Satterfield is often referred to as one of the hardest punchers of the 1950s, but he never had Mitchell in trouble. Ted McWhorter who worked Mitchell's corner was later George Chuvalo's chief trainer.

Satterfield was an enigma. He out boxed the great Harold Johnson in one of their fights so he had boxing skills which he also used against Vern Mitchell but mostly he just went for broke and tried for a knockout or he got knocked out himself. He was great to watch. Too bad he did not take boxing seriously. He should have been LHW champ. His manager also managed him tough. His manager was very brave. Bob fought everybody who would fight him. Can you imagine that. Today almost every opponent is hand picked especially for Roy Jones and Mayweather in their day.
