  • The assembly of the bearing system in the Duncan Pulse yo-yo is not well described in the instructions and I didn’t find help on RUclips. Being new to the Pulse yo-yo, I was trying to troubleshoot sleeping problems on a friends yo-yo and found it difficult. Once I figured it out I wanted to pass the information along to others who need clear instruction on bearing assembly.

For the record, same process for the Duncan Hornet looping yoyo. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for your comment. One of my friends lost a bushing from his Pulse yo-yo and I ordered replacement parts from Duncan and they didn’t fit. I had to buy a new Pulse (about $12) yo-yo for spare parts. Have fun.

Yeah, not sure if they are the same size but the bushings, spacers, and bearing are at least all in the same order on the Hornet. I have been looking for a straightforward tutorial on how it all goes together!

I’ve been using yo-yos all my life. A friend of mine was having trouble with his Pulse yo yo. When I opened it up it turned out one of the spacers was missing and he didn’t notice. I’m glad this was helpful to you.

A friend of mine had a Duncan Pulse but was having trouble with it. I’ve been a traditional yo-yo buff all my life but never dealt with yo-yos with bearings. I told him I would take a look at it. When I took his Pulse apart I couldn’t figure out how to put it together and there was no help on line so I ordered a new Pulse, took it apart carefully and found out my friend had lost the bushing on one side. I just gave him the new Pulse (after I made this video) and kept his for parts. Interestingly, I was unable to buy Pulse bearings, even from Duncan. When I told Duncan the story, they sent me a new Pulse of my own. It is a fine Yo-Yo. 😊🪀

You are welcome. I have been playing with yo-yos since I was 10. I’m 80 now. One of my neighbors in my building was having trouble with his yo-yo and I took a look at it. When I took it apart, I couldn’t exactly figure out what was wrong, not knowing what it was supposed to look like inside. So I bought another pulse yo-yo online ($12) and noticed that he had a plastic bushing missing. It was then that I realized that other people could use information about the bearing system in the pulse yo-yo. I bought some replacement parts on line but they didn’t fit the pulse yo-yo. I contacted the Duncan yo-yo company and they didn’t have replacement parts available for the Pulseand they sent me a new yo-yo (at no cost) which I gave to my friend. So if you’re missing a bushing, you can contact Duncan and they will likely sent you a new yo-yo. If you’re missing a bearing, you can get a replacement online. Have fun.

@@jameslesterbaldwin9841 Thank you so much! I was attempting a trick and the yo-yo flew out of my hand and into the wall. I didn't realize at the time there was a bearing. I found it under my dining room table, lol. But it was interesting taking it apart and learning how it works. I'm truly thankful for your help. In today's world of electronics and gadgets, there's something quite calming about a toy as simple as the yo-yo. I have been having a blast with it. Thank you again! 😊
