thanks so much Tudor. excellent video, i got the TTartisan in December, used it for landscape and street shots which is not my main area, love it so much, no problem with the vintaging the DXO PL6 take care of it with just a click. yes it is sharp at f2.8 which is impressive.
For someone like myself who is only interested in throwing manual glass onto her X-T10, the TTArtisans lens is a great budget AF option imo, and looking at samples from each lens lead me to prefer the TTArtisans option, as they generally have a nice vintage look to their lenses. I've tried the XF 35mm f/2 and couldn't care less enough to hold onto it because the Fuji AF is much jumpier than I like with that lens. Not sure if it's a firmware issue. I'd rather use the Konica Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 or any of my Nikkor lenses with a Pixco speedbooster.
I have a theory with my Mitakon 35mm f/095: I do believe that image pop comes from the hard vinegting … when we have vignette, we pay more attention to the center / subject
Havent tried the fuji, but i have the ttartisan and while the optics are good the af accuracy is really poor, even in good light and static subject. I like manual TTartisan lenses, but they need to improve a lot if they want to continue making AF lenses.
May I suggest you to use words "the fuji lens" and "the ttartisans lens".. For non native speakers like me is really confusing when you say "this lens and this other lens, the best lens is this one for this and the other lens for this other reason" because you speak very fast and keep moving each lens so i can't follow you correctly... 😔. Thanks.
I'm glad that I already have the Fujifilm XF 27mm, so I never gave the TT Artisans lens a thought. When I see these comparisons of a mainstream lens versus a very economical lens with similar stats, I can't help but wonder about the longevity over time. Maybe a cheap lens is fine right out of the box, but there is no track record yet. The more expensive lens could be a better deal after years of flawless service. FWIW, I really like this focal length on my Fujis, and am looking forward to the upcoming Voightlander 27mm f/2. It has a one stop advantage plus it focuses closer than the Fuji (my only real complaint is the long MFD), yet it maintains the true pancake profile. Manual focus with good DOF scales would make this lens a perfect street shooter tool.
Yes, totally agree - the minimum focus distance is annoying me too. The new Voigtlander is very interesting indeed - but it's missing the 5 meters mark on the scale, so I don't know how it will work with zone focus... We will see
@@Tudor_Mateescu You can go out and make a test by standing 5 meters from a wall and then focusing the lens. Then put a mark on the focus scale with a tiny amount of paint. Use a bright color and then you will have your "snapshot" setting anytime that you want to do a grab shot.
My fujifilm 27mm f2.8 broke after 2 months and I got an error prompt. The plastic inside that limits the front element to extend forward broke. I glued another piece of plastic and it works but I still get the error now and then. Now the motor is not working properly because I keep pushing the front element inside. I think the TTartisan will last longer because there's no moving elements the live outside. The focus on the ttartisan is internal.

Absolute agree with you, the TTArtisan one have kinda of 3d pop effect, no need blurry background but subject still stand out
This ‘Not so perfect’ lens with your recipe together is like a magic. Thanks for your recipe!
Thanks a lot!

I gave a thumbs up for the review and for the reviewer's blue tongue.
Yup :))

Could you have a video on xpro 1 ?
Have a review
My go to lens is the 35mmf2 one, but I would like a pancake one. Do you think I could switch without loosing quality ?
Nice review !
The 27mm f2.8 doesn't have in my opinion such good IQ as the 35mm f2. So no...

Yes, what camera body you use?
Hmmm, as far as the field of view is concerned 56 is wider than 55. So TTartisan is wider not tighter...
remove that lens hood on the ttartisan. vignetting improves
Very interesting, I'll try it :)
Greetings from Greece
Greetings 😃
The title is strange ? Wrong...

not clear which image is made with each lens... this leaves the video useless...
When I listen ‘lens with character’… 😂 don’t buy decision taken immediately.
Fuji 35mm f1.4 is a lens with character, so it depends. In this case I really like the TTartisan way of rendering.
