I'm Australian. My first serious boyfriend was in Tokyo, a Korean national who had been born and raised in Japan. We had some serious struggles. Later, in the US, I married and American man, and divorced him, and married another American. In my marriages, what I discovered was that the family and the culture were not the challenge. It was the men's assumptions about what it meant to be in a loving relationship with a woman, that were the struggle. They assumed I would do the housework, that I would do the cooking, that I would do the laundry. I wasn't interested in being a domestic servant like that, and those relationships failed as a result. You can do this, if you continue to examine your assumptions and his assumptions about what your relationship will be. I agree though, I think he has a better chance of finding work in Australia, and your chances are pretty good too, but his chance of finding good work in Japan are very slim.

いや、それはおしゃる通り今の日本はもうダメです。 就職できたとしても良い収入になるとは限らない。しかも日本人と一緒に働くのは(申し訳ないけど) ちょっと厄介で、おすすめはいっさいできない。 とにかく一般企業で勤めている場合、ぜったい嫌です。出世しようと思ったら経験やスキルに基づいてというより年齢やその職場(会社)で連続どれぐらい働いてきたかという関係です。生産性が低い日経国内企業になるべく近寄らない方がいいというのは私の申し上げたいポイントになります。すみません
