- While researching our recent book, Tim and I discovered that common reasons people cited for their deconstruction included issues such as "Christians oppressing homosexuals" and support for political figures like Donald Trump. When someone asserts that Christianity oppresses homosexuals, it often comes with a set of cultural and philosophical assumptions. To address this complex topic, Dr. Carl Trueman joins us to explore the question: Is Christianity oppressive? Don't miss this insightful conversation!
Father God give me strength I seem to bear the weight of the world on my shoulders as a single mom, I often face challenges that can seem insurmountable especially with raising two children with special needs. I’m trying to balance everything but Lord I’m struggling to make ends meet, to pay bills, and to put food on the table for my children. At times I want to give up but I know God will provide. 💕
It is like I am being oppressive to a thief who is stealing my car because I don't want him to.
That's what happened in Massachusetts. A homeowner caught somebody breaking into his truck, so he got him. The owner was arrested!
it is nothing like that. A lot of gay people have suffered trauma. Some are kicked out of their homes, shamed, ridiculed, bullied, abused, punished, victims of violence, and unable to live safely. Nice Christian families do most of that.
@@doobieddooo If Christians have done these, they are acting contrary to God's word. If someone comes to know Christ, there is incredible liberty, sins are forgiven and new life begins. That is the opposite of oppression.
God doesn't accept anyone the way they are 😮
He meets them where they are at and takes them to where He wants them to be 🎉
Hear Yahweh's Voice and Obey 😮
I feel so alone though..I seek God,but the noisyness of the world and the many MANY progressive christians that surround me,including my parents,I cannot hear Him or find Him,and now I'm numb, scared, depressed and lost. I feel defeated.

Always a treat to see Dr. Truman in these videos! Just got done reading Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self. Very insightful and well-read. My hope is that the church is able to show Christ to these communities in a way that is patient, cogent, and truthful to Scripture.
Glad to have found this channel 🤩👍 And it’s Adam and Eve , not Adam and Steve as my son told me recently 😏
“True humility is contentment.”
the only people who find it oppressive are people who want no accountability for their gross actions
Ahahsahshahsh is because you see only the gross. You see only 2 man using their holes instead see love, affections and more...
Do you want I use the same view on you?
Ok: send my greetings to who use your holes and you have married...
Born bad with Original Sin on my soul and commanded to be good. Where is the Original Sin and where is my imaginary soul?
Since I am forming and replacing every cell of my body I should know where to find the Original Sin and my soul. Nothing so far. Oh, wait, it's invisible.
If by opress you mean warning them they are going to hell if they don’t repent….then yes.
Christ is Christianity, and he lifts up the repenting and believes the Good News!
This LGBT christian movement is blasphemous. It makes a mockery of Christ and the cross. If Jesus accepted us the way we are there was no need for Him to die. This should anger us and cause us to read more and pray so that we can be consistent in extending truth and mercy to the lost.
Start by reading The Children Are Free by Jeff Miner. Analysis of the anti gay verses in the Bible
@@kevindahlenburg6014 - what's the purpose of doing that? I don't know the book or the author. I'm wondering if the book affirms the Word or contradicts it.
@@rodneyaustin3999 You wrote about reading more in your first post. This book has all the sources consulted at the end of each chapter, for those who wish to validate the source material. The Gospel is upheld, it's just that people haven't had a personal reason to dig any further than the surface of the scriptures - which we tend to do when applying biblical principals to others. The only way you're gonna know is to read it for yourself. I doubt if it will change your mind about anything but you can at least see why others are coming to believe that being gay and in a loving relationship does not contradict the Bible. It's 100% up to you.
@@kevindahlenburg2528 Hi Kevin, I appreciate the response. I will clarify that when I wrote "read more" I meant Scripture. I respectfully disagree in that the whole of Scripture contradicts such a lifestyle. Personally I'm not a fan of books that change the Gospel for cultural relevance. I have family members in that life and I myself have struggle and still struggle with lust. I never justify my life and the fact that I continue to struggle has given me great heartache. However, I do keep myself from dating and do my best to keep myself from situations that will compromise the word. I have heard of pastors who have proclivities for the gay lifestyle yet they remain celibate and choose to honor God with their body, which I respect and find inspiration from. However, I do not believe that the Bible affirms any lifestyle outside of a marriage between a man and woman with sex prohibited outside that holy covenant.
What is blasphemous is the Christians who want to be gatekeepers of Christ and prevent people from coming to him. Jesus accepts you the way you are as a starting point. The Holy Spirit changes us, but he is not going to change how he created you to begin with. He is going to change your heart and how you relate to other people, not how he wired you to begin with.
I don't find Christianaty oppressive, I just ignore them and have nothing to do with religion.
This guy is an expert, I can tell. Psychiatric journals have shown that the best thing anyone that is homosexual can do is to deny themself the chance for love and intimacy. Be alone forever! Celebrate being celebate! Never mind your innate psychological needs that are part of your cortex and hypothalamus, that’s only the devil at work in your head. Yes, deny yourself, and watch the shame, depression, and anxiety float away. Now, study after study shows that such denial dramatically increases risk of suicide and chronic depression, but remember that these aren’t the studies to look at and were influenced by the devil. Let the Christians, the true experts, guide your sexual decisions. They have a ghost/zombie/invisible man that tells them all the truth, so it must be true.
And these two light bulbs haven't stopped for even a minute in the last 10 years to see well maybe maybe it's just me maybe we are looking at this the wrong way maybe we have an opened our hearts or maybe we're looking at all this the wrong way......No not once. 😂😂😂
It's a bit of a ridiculous discussion
How so?
stay mad
yeah, the answer is : yes
This video is full of the most anti-intellectual verbes I've ever heard in my entire life. They having a clue😂😅😅
Why are reasonable people leaving Christianity? One reason might be that they see what Jesus warns about in Matthew 15:7. It's a fine line between righteousness and hypocrisy. Jesus didn't affirm a prostitutes lifestyle but he also did not judge them Just saying "I believe in Jesus" doesn't absolve a person who has a hard heart. Which Jesus also foresees in Luke 6:46.
They are false converts. They are leaving because God will not approve their sins and heresies.
