i'l never forget the day i went over to a friends house with my other friend to play my NON SATCH BELIEVER friend this song, he'd never heard anything by SATRIANI and he at That time was a Kiss,Wasp,Metallica,Van Halen etc fan, When myself and my other Pal put this song on and it was coming up to the Solo at 0.55 seconds in me and my other Satch fan friend just looked at each Other and turned up the Volume of the strero to ALMOST MAX and just Laughed So Hard at the expression on our other Friends Face!! it was PURE Disbelief at Satriani's Skill lmao
People can diss on Joe's singing skills all they want, and yes he's no Gary Moore, but this song has one of the greatest rock vibes of all time as far as I'm concerned. That's one thing Joe was good at, at least during the 80's and 90's, putting down a strong atmosphere. A vibe.
heard his Dad had died around the Flying CD came out. Flying in a BD song was part of my grieving process - have loved his music ever since. saucy, just enough feeling to really emphasize just the right aspects of rock. still pray for him on occasion. hope to see him in eternal life! Christ bring him home!
I went to a concert he held in Portland, Oregon 10 years ago. This was one of the songs he played. I was thrown off that he sang since a lot of his songs are instrumental.
the coolest part of this album is when you look at who is playing what...he really is not the "master of guitar" "the master of music" is more like it...
ibanez guitars, dimarzio pickups and d'ario strings - heard him say it's all he uses - heard it in 1992... saw him in 1998, got his autograph on a Flying in a Blue Dream concert - by far favorite musician of all time. have thought about having Flying in a BD requested at my funeral - blue lights on the casket - [big bad moon:] - "OH YEAH!" ;)
In its way a simple song, though the guitar parts are complicated enough. I've always liked it, though I have to be in the mood. Joe Satriani, the man who first showed Steve Vai the rudiments of the guitar.
wrong Joe was his guitar teacher as a kid then Vai went to Berkley and Berkley taught him everything. Vai transcribed some of Zappas music while at Berkely and sent it to him. Zappa was impressed and invited him to join the band. .
I like this song and from the ammount of likes i see compared to disslikes , i would say pretty much everybody does and the one person who does not obviously know nothing about music
@Sandiggity58 Motorcycle Driver has that gear shifting he does on a guitar... this has the most awesome solo :) Glad he has more than 1 good song unlike many artists today!
Hard to believe that album came out in 1989..... Genius
The guitar sound he had on this album is his best ever.
His best album ever!!! Maybe the best album ever!!!!
Was bad ass,miss good music
still sounds great after all these years.
....huge energy, good taste and last but not least great skill....
Seeing him do this live is the coolest thing ever: Harmonica solo with a slide attached to it, that he then grabs for the guitar solo!
Seen Joe in Redding California! Played this song and fell in love with his music!!!
Heck yeah!! I’m from Chico originally. My dad went and seen him in Redding too!
the very multi talented Joe Satriani is a beast of a guitarist with those power riffs an amazing artist.....
That solo at about :58 or so is an absolute face melter! God I love this tune. \m/
“Face melter”perfect!
This dude starts ripping the strings off the guitar in the beginning and never stops melting face the whole damn song
And at 2:05…
I was in Hawaii, and I first heard SURFING with the Alien. Jeezuz.

I know the guitar is amazing, but the low end is rock solid. Awesome tune no matter how you look or listen to it.
But "I like it" :)
I like it alot !
Flying in a blue dream has the greatest guitar songs ever played by the best player ever
You must not have heard Jeff Beck
Music to be laid by. Loudly.
Joe Satriani, the ultimate "GUITAR GURU", don't ever retire, just sort of rock out!
People can diss on Joe's singing skills all they want, and yes he's no Gary Moore, but this song has one of the greatest rock vibes of all time as far as I'm concerned. That's one thing Joe was good at, at least during the 80's and 90's, putting down a strong atmosphere. A vibe.

This is one of my favorite things on the internet.

i love blues, i love metal,
to imitate a mouth harp with a guitar like this, it just doesnt get any better
isn't he really playing an harp??
Never gets old; neverrrr!!!! 🎸♥🎸♥🎸♥🎸
My face just melted
This guy is one of my idol guitar player's. He plays Ibanez axes I love them. An I love schecter axes too. Bad ass guitar 's.
My grandpa introduced me to this guy. Cat's fuckin' crazy but he's got incredible taste in music. I've never heard anyone shred a guitar like this.
thanks 4 posting love this song, it is so awesome!!!!!
The best rock song ever!!!!!!!!
Seriously bad ass guitar playing.
the coolest part of this album is when you look at who is playing what...he really is not the "master of guitar" "the master of music" is more like it...
Awesome song Joe !!!

Looking forward to seeing him in Nantes he s a very gifted musician

Wrong it was Frank Zappa who showed Vai everything. Vai played backup for Zappa for years :)
wrong Joe was his guitar teacher as a kid then Vai went to Berkley and Berkley taught him everything. Vai transcribed some of Zappas music while at Berkely and sent it to him. Zappa was impressed and invited him to join the band. .
One of my fav songs since it came out. Usually play once a month
Oh I love the solos, I can't play guitar at all but I enjoy this!!!!
Mi tema favorito de Joe Satriani. Lo flipé cuando lo ví por primera vez en la antena parabólica cuando salió el álbum.
I have this on cassette tape lol

Damn this song is so badassed. Props. Flying is number one bud damn. ❤❤❤❤
This is rocknroll!
Perfect for a Twisted Metal clip.
Stevie Ray Vaughan would have loved this song.
He may have. This album was out for almost a year before he died.
@@billb.5183 Not to mention Satch and Stevie both playing at the same MTV gig in 1990.
I figure Billy Gibbons loves this song.
I think this isn’t really a blues song tho. Blues chords, blues progression, harmonica…but I’d never call this blues.
Stevie did like this song, the whole album actually
Awesome!❤
Going to see him in october again can't wait.
YAY-YUH!!! ALL UP IN HERE!!!
