Permatex purple is no good. It will prevent rust but at -5c I can barely disassemble pieces as they are sized in the grease. Better to use any other grease.
I agree, it is good for the backs of pads, and they say not to even do that anymore. Need something go on a parking brake actuator (two levers that touch and slide). If nothing is used, rust will lock up harder than any lube . Thinking of just pure silicon.
NEVER use Permatex Ceramic Extreme, CRC Synthetic Brake and Caliper grease, Permatex Green Ultra, Versachem Synthetic Caliper Grease, or Sta-Lube Brake and Caliper Grease on rubber or anything that comes into contact with rubber. It is NOT safe on rubber parts like caliper slide pins that have rubber bushings or have rubber dust boots. These greases will make the rubber swell and cause binding or seizure of the slide pins. These greases are great for metal to metal contact but that's it. The silicone paste, Sil-Glyde, and Super Lube Silicone grease are safe to use on rubber parts. This is what you use on slide pins and anything made of rubber or that comes into contact with rubber.
Sorry for your long statement. I used the stupid Sil-Glyde because a stupid video I saw here on YT. Two years later my caliper pins were stock. The little rubber swell and I had to buy new one and REPLACE. Too much BS. I already told a lot of people. In my two cars, front caliper at both side rubber was swelling and stock the pin.
The only thing your using brake grease for is the slider pins, use anti seize on the back of the pads were it comes into contact with the calliper. Anti-seize will last a lot longer than grease and breaks up vibrations that cause squeeks
I've seen Chris Fix film on brake job, where he used Permatex Copper Anti-Seize Lubricant (#09128). I've always used it for my brakes and thought it is the best product to use for brake lubrication. May I know your opinion on that lubricant? Maybe it is very good for Hubs applications before you put the disc on, but still for brakes themselves better to use Permatex Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant (actually I have it as well) or some other products from the list given in this film. Thank you for the great film.
That very first one, the purple ceramic, that stuff is TERRIBLE!!! Shop i worked at started using it before i got there, the next time the vehicles came back, the grease was all stiff and crumbling. Dont ever use this stuff. The green stuff by permatex, that is good stuff. Also, how is this vid the best of 2024 when it was made 2yrs ago/2022?
6:10 they come in 4 ounce, 8 ounce and 12 ounce containers. You mention it is small. Well, depends which one you buy. What the hells difference between 4 and 7? I thought it was a comparison between the AGS and the NAPA, but darn pics look identical, you loose your credibility.

I heard the purple is not to be used on the slide pins - also causes rubber parts to swell
@@carlloftin2850 True. You want the Permatex #80653 "Silicone Ceramic Extreme" The "orange" stuff.
I use Mibil 1 synthetic red grease and it works just fine.
@@carlloftin2850 I too learned the hard way... used on pins and turned into a solid in less than 6 months.

Hi! What about 3M silicone
@@bernardocisneros4402 thanks again

@@irisbaez1972 so what is lubricant are you using present?
so what is lubricant are you using present?
So you have Sil-Glide listed twice. And they are rated at #4 and #7.
I use Super Lube 41160 and 3M silicone paste. Both work very well and safe on rubber.
Two of the exact same products were in here twice

Anyone have any experience with the permatex silicone brake part lube, yellowish orange color if its good or not?
Ceramlub by Shark Industries. All you need.
good stuff but they are too 'proud' of it if you get my drift
Niglube RX-2 is one of the best grease for Brake lubrication . . .

What? No Raybestos Silicone Paste, DBL-2T ????
and it is reasonably priced too...

4:43, Not sure that is rated for high temps.
A I voice almost sounds real.
Glad I only had to suffer through this info ONCE due to that silly snarling immature sounding narrator's presentation. Totally intolerable....
WHAT'S THE SHELF LIFE?
infinity.
Grease is just oil. But the purple shit gets bad over time, and the green turns to liquid after a year

It’s Perm-ah-tex, not Perm-ay-tex. As in “perm-a-nent” since their original product was adhesives.
You're criticizing a robot LOL
Just lost ALL credibility with me by starting with the permeatex ceramic extreme purple crap.
I use permatex green (85188) for the sliders, liqui Moly blue anti squeal for the pads and CRC anti seize copper paste for the hub
