Thanks for your review. You are correct in all your assessments. In addition to the excellent sound, the number board lighting is even better in person I have one sound and one non-sound unit and what struck me about both was the quality of the paint. Not just excellent demarcation but the richness of the color and finish is just perfect.
Thank you for the compliment and thank you for watching! Yeah I agree, this locomotive is very fascinating. I’d like to see the prototype that has been restored in operation someday.
When I was a kid in the 1960s, I remember the SP Krauss Maffei locos going through my NorCal farm town at speed. I so remember Diesel hydraulic system sound like a high pitched scream (as if the bearings were going out!! LOL). This isn't too bad, but the German Maybach diesels really did "scream" at speed while hauling a freight train. The 4K HP KMs were bought to go over Donner Pass, but they just couldn't do it, so they were used in the Central Valley to Bay Area instead. Nice video, you do great work!
That’s pretty cool! I didn’t know that they sounded like that in person. It’s a shame they weren’t successful would have been cool to see how technology would have evolved had they been successful. Thank you for watching I appreciate it. Thank you for the kind words too!
Is it “Pea-co” or “Pie-co”? I have the DC model, and it is one of the best looking, detailed and running locomotives I have. Wishing they come out with the second rendition-the “hood” style.
I honestly don’t know how it’s pronounced. I gave it a shot haha. I agree that it’s great model! I haven’t seen a model of this caliber in a while. That would be great if they released the other type. My guess would be that they would release the D&RGW scheme next.
Uniquely awesome diesel locomotive model. That at first look, may not seem to be desirable. But, if you are a student/collector/modeler of train power. It wins you over, like so many other "ugly ducklings". And may even cause innovation designs to other, diesel locomotive designs. Would love to have one, for my collection, your lucky to have them. The back window looks like a camera lens.😆 Piko, doesn’t included, the air tank reservoirs for the top of the hood? Now for a Kennecott Copper Corp. GP39-2 "Vista cab" units and some Canfor/Englewood Logging Division SW1200RS's with dynamic brakes and unique spark arrestors. Looks like Bowser has the Alco C-415 void, in hand. Thank you, for the review.
I agree with you. There are many locomotives that have grown on me that I found unappealing. I think is model in particular is as-delivered and the tanks may have been added after delivery to SP. Those other unique engines you mentioned would great to see in HO scale. Thank you for watching!
hi mate saw your review and i got my self the same loco sp 9002 i just now got it from germany when they tested it it worked fine on my z21 multi maus setup it shorts out any clues why ? If anyone knows whats the problem please comment
Heya, I’m not entirely sure. If you got it from Germany, is it a three rail engine? Some of these came in three rail configurations. It’s possible that you may have that one and you’re trying to run it on two rail track. Check underneath the model to see what you have. The track could be dirty too. Let me know if it is three rail or two rail. Sorry for the late reply.

Thank you for watching my video! I agree with you that the paint is amazing on these models. All in all this model a perfect.
Awesome locomotives and review! Always found this locomotive and the history of it fascinating and intriguing

Always liked the look of them !!
They are some unique locomotives! Thank you for watching Mike!
Thank u. Just received mine today. Will fire it up tomorrow.
@@jeffreyrule8143 I hope you enjoy yours. These are by far some of the best HO scale locomotives I’ve seen! Thank you for watching!

Thanks- would imagine the Rio Grande scheme would come first.
German here. It’s a German company and it’s pronounced like the english word „peak“ with an o
So Peak-o
@@TobiasL1000 Thank you for explaining that to us.
@@TobiasL1000 Thanks Tobias - interesting that the pronunciation is the same as the UK model railroad company, Peko ….
Joe, what kind of controller system do you use and have you had any experience with the Ring Engineering, RailPro controller system?
I use a Digitrax DCS-52 system. I like it a lot. I don’t have an experience with this other systems.

Just curious, is there a way to adjust the notching, I noticed on mine at speed step 30 it’s only gone up 2 notches. Thanks.
I don’t know exactly, but I noticed mine does the same. It might be prototypical since they are diesel hydraulic.
@@modelrailroadingthesouthwest didn’t think of that, might just be the way it works. Thanks.
having trouble with there sound decoder, wish they just used Tsunami or lok sound....
