  • The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, 94-92. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists while Chet Holmgren (15 points, 11 rebounds, 5 blocks) and Jalen Williams (19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists) totaled 34 points. Trey Murphy III led the Pelicans with a Playoffs career-high 21 points and 5 3PM as CJ McCollum (20 points, 6 assists) and Jonas Valanciunas (13 points, 20 rebounds) added 33 points. The Thunder lead the best-of-seven series, 1-0, with Game 2 taking place on Wednesday, April 24, 9:30 PM ET, on TNT/TruTV.
Chet Holmgren recorded 5 blocks in tonight’s game, he becomes just the SIXTH ROOKIE to record 5 or more blocks in their NBA Playoffs debut, since blocks were fully tracked in 1973-74, joining:
    Myles Turner - 5 blocks on April 16, 2016
    David Robinson - 5 blocks on April 26, 1990
    Manute Bol - 9 blocks on April 18, 1986
    Sam Bowie - 5 blocks on April 18, 1985
    Kevin McHale - 5 blocks on April 5, 1981
Chet Holmgren joins Tom Burleson as the only rookies in Thunder playoff franchise history to record 15+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ blocks in a game, since 1973-74:
    Tom Burleson - 18 points, 11 rebounds, 7 blocks (4/24/1975)

People have been doubting the thunder all season but the team has proved the haters wrong so let's just see what they'll do the rest of the series. If Zion was here it would be a 7 game series.

McCollum sold the offense if you ask me forced and missed shots. Ball dominate as well towards the end. Pelicans gave the game away. A bunch of blown opportunities. Just game 1 let’s see the adjustments.

Shouldn’t even been this close, OKC couldn’t grab rebounds or keep their offense consistent

Pelicans really gave this away when they had a lot of chances. Couldn’t male a bucket to capitalize in the end. So many offensive rebounds that didn’t amount to anything and turnovers.

I don’t care who wins because neither team can get by the Clippers but Pels played for crap and have to realize they let that one slip. 38% from the field, 28% from 3, out board, out assist (two keys in the playoffs) and to lose because of that shooting.

OKC had a perfect matchup with Lakers, too bad we cannot beat the Kings so thats a risky move to throw a game against Pelicans

Pels Coach, "Hey, let's call ISO for that last 14 seconds against one of the best on ball defending teams in the NBA. Let's not run our offense and get a great look and exploit the obvious mismatches. This is where NBA IQ comes into play"
