I met Ernest in a perchance situation and I haven't shared it online yet. He and his wife were in front of my wife and I in line for the Tame Impala show in ATL 2021. I couldn't believe my luck. I was getting so nervous to talk to him, but luckily my wife was incredible and went up to them. They were so kind to my wife and I. Later on we were going to get refills and the bartender let us know they were paid for. Across the bar his wife winked at us. His music is something that I'll always cherish and I'm so glad that my wife and I had that interaction. I wish I remembered to tell him how great Purple Noon is to me. Can't wait for this project!
That’s awesome. I’ve played quite a few shows and met a few bands/artists and some were total assholes (like MGK) but when you meet a good one - you just appreciate them and their work that much more 👍🏻
I met Ernest at his Brooklyn concert for the Purple Noon concert and showed him my purple noon inspired shoot and he loved it soo surreeal he’s been one of my biggest inspirations for my career
I know the feeling. I still remember when You and I first came out on Chill XM Satellite Radio and then Within and Without was released shortly after. I've followed Ernest's music ever since.
I've listened to Washed out for more than 13 years, it's therapeutic for me. I guess we don't think about the people putting out such effort, energy, love and life changing music and so thank you for this personal perspective for both of you and please live life to the fullest and be well. Cheers!
This had me teary eyed. You’ve made beautiful music that has lived with us and soundtracked many memories, more than you’ll probably ever know. Thank you, sincerely, and enjoy your quiet life. Look forward to the album
Ernest, I've been a huge fan since Within and Without. I saw you in Denver at Colorfield. Thank you so much for your music, and thank you for giving us a look at your day to day. So happy for you and your family. You inspired my album and you continue to inspire me in other areas of life. Thank you.
I first heard “Belong” off High Times in 2009, and it’s been great to watch you grow from the early work to who you’ve become as a person and artist in recent time. Thank you for all the contributions and inspiration over the years. Looking forward to the new project. 🤝
I studied abroad in Thailand 10 years ago and my friends started playing 'Life of Leisure'.. I was instantly addicted to Ernest's music and have been following Washed Out ever since.Your music brings me to nostalgic, happier times. Saw your set in Chicago on a rooftop in 2019. What a beautiful journey you have gone on as an artist over the last 15 years. As a graphic designer myself, I respect the visuals in your work. Thanks for all the music and hard work. So excited for the new record, cheers!
Such a phenomenal mini documentary. It's not easy nowadays to really make that conscious effort to slow down and do what you know is right for yourself and your loved ones. In recent years, I've tried to do that myself with mindfullness and meditation, especially living next to big city. Glad you've found that too and I'm happy that you're creating projects from a place that makes you happy. 'Paracosm' for me is one of my all time favorite records. Everything about it is perfect, like a dream I never want to wake up from. I'd like to think this next project will carry a similar grace to it as well with regards to what I've been seeing from you these past couple weeks. Regardless though, I'm just glad you're enjoying the process and doing what you love. Cheers Ernest!
As an artist myself, who hasn't dropped a project in 2 years watching this inspires me and gives me hope that I'll eventually arrive at what I'm supposed to do. Also lets me know I shouldn't resent other things that might pull me away from creativity cause they're important too. Thank you
I’ve been with your music from the start, and from that start, I always labeled it as my favorite musician in general, and that hasn’t changed. The aura you provide for your listeners musically, visually, and internally is something I’ve yet to find elsewhere; a peaceful combination. Thank you for channeling your world into so many artistic forms - beautiful documentary and locale!
I was at your Seattle show in 2022. It was magical, euphoric, and passionate. I was taken to another dimension with my eyes closed. When looking at you, I sensed something from you. I thought maybe you seemed down. Hearing you say now that you were severely burned out hurts my heart. I am sorry that you were suffering in silence for our enjoyment. I experience burnout too, as an introvert. It's exhausting. I can't even imagine going on tour. I thank you for sharing your art, your soul. Your music feeds my soul. Your music is euphoria and joy. Thank you for sharing part of your story and your life with us. I wish you and your family the very best and many blessings ❤❤❤
I've been listening since I was 16 and I am 30 now. I was very lucky to see you in Tel Aviv in happier times. Your music gave me more than words can say, within and without changed me. Thank you and blair for calming me down and giving me new air in good and harder times❤
Washed out is a soundtrack in my life. His music always evokes nostalgic memories for me. I listened non-stop to his first and second album when I was on holiday in Greece. So every time I hear his melancholic melodies and voice, it takes me back to those beaches and sunset nights. I am 41, musician and photographer and this beautiful documentary shows me that I have much more in common than I initially thought. I love his art work and hope to see more from that in the future!
I appreciate you sharing these intimate parts of your life with us, they're deeply appreciated, like your music! Thank you for continuing to create and share!
What a beautiful video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, emotions, and insight about your life's current journey. I wholeheartedly cannot wait to hear the new album and just how much of yourself you have poured into it. Please never stop creating art.
Ernest, you have been a source of inspiration for me ever since I came across your first release while scrolling through ISO50 while I was in college a long time ago. Your artwork, regardless of medium, lifestyle, and outlook on life is one I feel a deep connection with. Never stop creating no matter what that means. Your work always comes into my life at the right time it seems. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this! I saw you live in 2015 for my very first concert in Dallas Tx - and live in Dallas as well in 2022. Cant wait for this to come out. But I understand and or wonder myself about the burnout. thank you for talking about it. We dont always need tours. And we are patient in regards to music. I am so grateful for all of the music that you put out.
Thanks for your creativity! Each of your songs is a separate world, filled with emotions and meaning. Your songs are always with me, they are incredibly sensual and allow me to feel this world more deeply. Your music inspires me and supports me in difficult moments. Continue to create and delight us with your works! ❤
Growing with your music, your life experiences, has been a blissful journey through my life and my experience here. Looking forward for all projects of yours. See you in Austin
