Looks like touching up solder joints, and perhaps flowing solder into some vias. CP1 through CP4 shows as 10k resistors in the parts list on the PLL board; while it appears to be a package of resistors I cannot find a pinouout. I am guessing it is a network, probably forming an R-2R DAC if I had to guess. I'm not sure why they needed to be removed however just to clean up solder joints.
I'm not sure what the classical defect was that you were fixing. Obviously something to do with the audio output. It was an interesting video nonetheless.
The classical defect is the the dry solder joints of the CP1, CP2, CP3, CP4 resistor packs at the D/A converters of the DDS. I did this fix also myself and this fix is well known for TS-950SDX owners.
You do not need to do all this removing components. The defective connections can be measured / identified on the board with an an ohm meter and each pin soldered with the CP chips on the board. Full instructions all written up at www.qrz.com/db/zl4ai

I did this to exclude repetition of the same cases in other near places of the circuit.
