Got one of these, pretty impressive for the money. The downside is that if you're doing very then metal, it can be hard at the lowest amperage. TIG goes down to 30 and that's more than I'd like for thin sheet metal. I'm trying to add on a pulse TIG option using an Arduino board. I'm not 100% sure where to add it in and I don't want to ruin the machine.
The other thing I want to add on is a HF start for the TIG. Lift TIG is ruining the tip and I have to have a lot of ready to go tips cleaned up. HF seems to be something that can be added on like a spark plug coil. It would be cool to have these add ons where you can just buy and install.
The Fluxcore part works great. So handy to have around.

Good to hear all this feedback cause I never did get back to the Tig setting and try it out. 🤠

Coffee and Tools.. If you use gas for MIG and Gas for TIG you will need two different tanks. TIG 100% argon and MIG 75% argon and 25% CO2.

True, but I just didn't have any bottles for the Tig test, shame on me

For tig you have to buy tungsten electrodes, and i have never been able to draw an arc. Just melts the electrode. But i may not be doing it right. Oh and buy a different hose. The one they send is as hard as steel.

Are the settings in metric or imperial for wire speed?

Do you know if the 200amp model runs mig with gas and or flux core

Don't know, the 270 was not listed for gas but came with the fittings which I thought was odd.

What are the MIG gas options? I noticed the Hose has CO2 printed on it? I've only used Argon CO2 in the old days with a 1980's Millermatic. Anyone can help me better understand Gas options.

CO2, cheapest, more splatter, 75% Argon 25% CO2 (options including helium mix), can produce clean smooth welds, also Flux core, makes a bit of a mess but can produce very strong welds and can have better penetration, almost required if welding outside in any wind. Note CO2 bottle and argon/inert gas blend bottles have different connectors.

The MIG-270 runs on 220 OR 110, but you are limited to ~80-90 A on 120V.
