Your 2024 may have many of these features, but remember 20 years ago, some 2000s cars were still getting features from 70's/80s luxury models introduced as standard equipment finally, so this car is a pioneer for many of it's features. Mercedes also had one of the first keyless push-start systems, which they relatively quickly integrated in their vehicles. This is one of my favorite looking implementations of their Push-Starts.
I drove one of these models/same year almost daily for 5 years when working with a client. It averaged 9mpg around London. I would fill up costing £130 and get 120 miles out of a tank. In terms of cost, we averaged about £7,500 a year in servicing/fixing problems, covering 1000 miles a year. Very unreliable electrics. However, as a driving experience, it was simply amazing.
And there we have it - the PRACTICAL results of the "plasticky" complaints about it I wrote of elsewhere in which I focussed more on the emotional, personal sensations of interacting with what to me is a piss-elegant car. Your horrific fuel consumption may not necessarily be improved by opting for my recommendation - a Bentley - but I am very sure that it's intrinsic (rather than "added onto") engineering, quality, solidity and durability would have provided you your thousand annual miles at a far lower cost than the simply mortifying figure you quote - you don't say when those 5 years were but even if we're only taking 10 years ago, today's equivalent of 7500 2014 pounds is just a smidgeon over £10 000. If the 7.5 you refer to was an average over every year from 09-13, that's even worse at more like £10800 today. And all that's asides from it (either Arnage or Mulsanne) - again to me - being a far more authentic and satisfying machine.

That's pretty awesome! I had no idea that the Maybach key fobs in 2003 had KeylessGo built into them. I know it was an OPTION on the W220 S-classes around that time.
