Thank you, sir. I discovered your music 20 years ago and it’s impossible to describe all the ways your music has been interwoven with my memories since then.
Well Skellig is returning home. I just booked into the 2025 tour which touches down in Dublin, my hometown. I’ve also spent many a late hour at Cill Rialiag artists retreat near Ballinskelligs and Skellig Micheal, listening to this concert. This land belongs to the gulls, and their cry to the wind’. ❤
I was writing down a few lines about an experience I had this week, when "No fals gods" came up... People can be so wonderful, kind and heartwarming. So it was my mum's 89th b-day this week. She lives in the south, approx 700km distance. I was pondering what to send as a gift and finally had the idea to surprise her with her favorite flower. It's one that is rare and you don't get it in the stores. So I found one person in the country who cultivates them. I ordered some for her in her favorite color - white - and some for my sister, who is the main caregiver, as she's living nearby. Since these flowers don't last long, I chose the express delivery... The first attempt of delivery failed... It was almost a thriller... with a number of plot twists, and on the morning after the determined delivery the man who had sent the flowers rang me up and inquired... He surprised me with the sweetest news ever! He had doubled the amount of flowers, because he liked our little story so much, that he wanted to cheer our mum, by sending her extra flowers to pass on to the nurses who care for her. Isn't that the sweetest gesture you can imagine? What a treasure these musicians are! I kinda never go to concerts, but I really hope to one day be able to see these artists live! Thank you so much for all the art you play right into my heart!
I like the little introductions David gives to most songs in this concert, so here are alternate timestamps with those intros: 0:25 Skellig 5:40 Dún Laoghaire 10:40 Gulls 16:05 (Gulls explained) 18:59 Accumulates 24:57 Laughing Gas 30:20 No False Gods 34:10 House with No Walls 39:12 The White Owl 44:07 Dares My Heart Be Free 50:30 Heart and Soul (not Hart and Sole!) 55:25 Can't Hurt More Than This 1:00:05 Mutineers 1:04:42 Deep Water Swim 1:10:00 Spiral Arms 1:20:18 All That We Asked For 1:24:58 Dancing with Both Feet Off the Ground (w/ Niamh Farrell) 1:29:20 Kathleen (w/ Niamh Farrell) 1:33:18 Last Summer 1:37:53 Cake and Eat It 1:41:00 The Arc 1:49:15 Ain't No Love 1:56:19 Gathering Dust
I recall first seeing David on, of all things, Michael Parkinson way back in the early 2000's soon after 'Babylon' came out, I also recall making a mental note: this songwriter is different, he explores the niches and nuances of the human soul which are seldom revealed in popular music, sorry for the rant, thank you David for your courage and uniqueness.
The best gig that I have ever been to and in a wonderful setting. Skellig is such a beautiful album and to hear it played out, with the full band, was a true gift.
This is the most audibly pleasing album I've ever heard. The only way I'm able to unwind during a rough day at work is to grab my headphones and put on the "Calm Mixes" versions of some of these songs. Nothing soothes me more.
Every time I hear his voice I just have to stop dead and listen...first time I heard him I was in a store, and one of his pieces was playing over the speakers. I asked the girl at the counter "who IS that?" and she told me. I bought the CD. And the next one. And the next one. =)
Thanks for the post I'll show it to my friend, terminal cancer, but I found his brother unresponsive on the 23rd April. We needed a set of new tunes for my memory when number 2 goes. Something to see him out
Love to have been at this concert. We had tickets for one of the 30th anniversary of White Ladder dates, but it was postponed due to Covid and we couldn’t make the rescheduled date 😢
Any chance someone can tell me if they have heard the song called “wizard” by David Gray? I saw him play at State College like 20+ years ago and I’m pretty sure he said the song was called Wizard and it was amazing. Let me know, much love, thanks.
This has been the most important music for me this last year. I return to it often. 💙
Brilliant artist, brilliant performance, and what a wonderfully atmospheric venue.
One of the best singer/songwriters ever.
thank you talented person born under the heavens.
Love All of David’s songs❤️

Seen him every tour the last 23+ years, and lots lots more, was there for this, twice on the White Ladder anniversary tour

Was there with my mate. Great night. He's way better performing live than the studio album thing. Love him
What an awesome Concert ❤
Skellig is to David Gray as Spirit of Eden is to Talk Talk
This man is amazing and am so grateful to have seen him twice.

Instructions for a short journey to Nirvana: find your love, light the candles, open your best bottle and just listen in the quiet dark.
Saw him in Raleigh,...EXCELLENT!
And you are so stinking cute😊
This crazy guy.. oh I suppose😝 that was hilarious.. 1:37:47 but that guy was annoying. It had to be frustrating while streaming this masterpiece live.
About delay clapping..
Best of the best singer
