If this was in September 1998, it was the first time I had been to a live taping of Conan O’Brien (as a 16 year old). I never imagined I’d be searching it out to watch 23 years later….
frank mcourt has alot of nay sayers about his book (gerrard hannon) but i dont care it its a bs, if parts are true and others are bs, its a beautifull, moving piece of literature in any case and I loved every sentence of that book. and the two that fallowed
I've read the book. His childhood in Ireland was hard! His father drank up all the money and his mother had to beg for food to feed them. He was a masterful storyteller. RIP Frank.
@@gasaholic47 how would I know what exactly? if you refer to his mother, well he said she was sleeping with her own cousin so she could live with him rent free, she even stood up in a theatre in New York where the 2 brothers were telling stories and told everyone itwas a pack of lies.
As an Irishman, I commend McCourt for what he’s done. Most people don’t understand the Irish mindset, a mix of nationalism and piety that create an overall toxic space for people of the likes of McCourt. Good on him for having the strength to speak out in such a loud and important manner
