i don't want to hear this jack black slander >:(
it might be classed as slander but with jack black its really easy to imagine it actually happening
Jack Black would call it an honor
Jack Black is my spirit animal
It certainly tracks for Jack Black...
Fun fact! Weird Al DOES NOT NEED permission to do these songs, but he asked to be polite. Its a shame when he makes a song better then the original that talked about possible rape. The OG song had topics of rape in it, Al made it all funny and took that element out of it. Be mad if you want but your wrong lol
The music video for "Tacky" debuted on July 14, 2014, as the first in an eight-video series. Produced by Nerdist Industries, the one-shot video mimics Williams' own style used in his video for "Happy": It features comedians, Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black with Weird Al Yankovic dressed in tacky clothes and dancing purposely poorly while lip-sync-hing to the song's lyrics about a person who brags on about his questionable style choices. The video was filmed at Palace Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, previously featured as Julianne Moore's apartment in the 1998 film The Big Lebowski. Yankovic specified that during each of the six continuous takes, he would have to rush down five flights of stairs while changing his outfit in order to appear in the beginning and end of the video.
The guests all do "tacky" stand up comedy.
@@CaptainNice lol
@@markfreedman8407 I don't think Jack Blacks tacky dancing is 'accidental' lol
I remember running into my brothers and I's room and waking my little brother up yelling "Jack Black is in a Weird Al video!" XD
I haven't seen it online recently, but at one point 4 of those continuous shots were shown simultaneously in one video. It was awesome to see the consistency, along with different costumes and (I believe?) one different celebrity.
The cameos are indeed all famous comedians.
1. Aisha Tyler
2. Margaret Cho
3. Eric Stonestreet
4. Kristen Schaal
5. Jack Black
Well, at least semi-famous. I'm not sure Kristen Schaal is exactly a household name.
@@chriswhinery925 Famous enough that I was able to recognize them all (Stonestreet was the only one I had to look up as I never watched Modern Family, but I was at least able to recognize him as "that guy from Modern Family.") I take your point, though.
@@chriswhinery925 She was on Whose Line a few times, so folks have heard her name at least, enough that I recognized her end remembered her name at least, which is fairly impressive as I usually don't remember anything. :P
Jack Black is the only famous one
@@chriswhinery925 It was the year after this music video but she was the lead actress on a network tv show, Last Man on Earth, that ran for 4 seasons. She was probably more known for her voice work before that starring on animated shows like Bob's Burgers, Bojack and Gravity Falls.
Kurt Cobain of Nirvana said “when Weird Al wants to parody you, that’s when you know you’ve made it.”
He said "you are not going to sing about food are you?
"One legend to another" kinda moment there
@@rickmooney-realtor2766 - No, the song is about how nobody understands your lyrics.
- PERFECT. Do it!
According to Al during one of his interviews, the scheduling for this video was based almost entirely around Jack Black's availability.
Apparently, the rest just had more flexibility.
You are correct, he had part of 2 days available, but not all of one day. That's also part of the reason it's one continuous shot, it was the fastest way they could do it as opposed to the normal sets, props, and multiple shots.
Yes, they are all famous and yes it is a continuous shot. Al had to run all the way to the ground floor for the final shot. 🤣
AND change clothes on the way.
Believe they did it in only 6 takes.
@@lawrencejoy2256 I hear they got it on the seventeenth take
@@raybergstrom That's funny....as a kick in the crotch.
I've seen him live 3 times. The most recent time he opened with this song. He was outside behind the building and he had a camera broadcasting live as he walked in. Singing this song and in costume. The audience kept looking at the camera video and each entrance trying to figure out which entrance he was at. He is amazing live. Constant outfit changes. Came out dressed appropriately for Amish Paradise
He is amazing live! I only saw him once, on his tour for Running with Scissors. But it was such a blast! He did Dare to be Stupid, Fat, The Saga Begins, Germs, and so many more XD
I saw him twice, for In 3D and the album with Fat. Dr Demento opened for him on the first show, in ... '85? He even balanced on one foot and put the other foot behind his head, like in I Lost on Jeopardy!
@@finekat296 I saw him for running as well. Then he played at a local Fair believe it or not. Then I saw him again When he was on his recent tour. He hired 2 local girls to be the cheerleaders when he played Smells like Nirvana, and they were in the background of his tacky entrance to the stage. I bought his album collection after the show. And had to go back for a replacement because the one I got was busted.
@@ThaneOfEurmal oh that's cool! He did that for Like a Surgeon XD
Also saw him when he opened with this song. Same thing here. First time I saw him was the mid 90s. Both times were great. Been a fan since In 3D came out.
Your dawning realization that everyone in the video was, indeed, famous was funnier than the parody itself. I laughed so hard I had tears.
Of course it begs the question of how famous they really are... :) But then, this IS someone who is apparently seeing Weird Al videos for the first time...
Jack blacks appearance is the best
Yes everyone in this video are comedians. Some more famous than others.
Aisha Tyler
Margaret Cho
Eric Stonestreet
Kristen Schaal
Jack Black
Yeah, they're all famous.
"Produced by Nerdist Industries, the one-shot video shows Yankovic mimicking Williams' own style used in his video for "Happy": It features comedians including Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, Jack Black "
Black is obviously the most famous but they've all had careers and I guess it's pretty easy for Yankovic to convince you to star in one of his videos.
From what I've heard, these days, Al just needs to get around a celebrity management team and just ask, the response is usually an immediate "YES!"
He got the keyboardist for The Doors, Ray Manzarek, to play on his song "Craigslist", so yeah :)
Weird Al is an institution who’s career has spanned over four decades and he is an incredibly nice guy, most celebrities are honored and excited to get to work with him.
Lana from Archer? I recognized the rest but only knew names of the last 2.
Looks more like Michael Lee Aday or Mear Loaf then Eric Stonestreet to me not sayig you are wrong you are probably right jus dont look like him to me
I've seen Al perform this in concert. He starts outside the venue on the street and sings as he walks through the theater and comes in the theater and sings down the aisle through the crowd to the stage. Everybody goes nuts!!! It's the best entrance I've ever seen anyone make at a concert. He's followed by a camera man who films him until he enters the theater and we watched him on a big screen while his band plays on stage.
Al is a creative genius!!!
Al patched together a bunch of these entrances and made two videos of all the different states and cities where he did this. It's amazing to see.
My beliefs on Jack Black are 1. he absolutely had that outfit in his wardrobe 2. there is nothing he could do that would cause me to think “that doesn’t make sense.”
I fully belive that the only thing they had to tell jack black to get him in the building was "weird Al video!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
lol the scenes he made of himself in his garden in just his underwear! XD Jack Black is another gem just like Weird Al.
If I remember right, Jack Black actually wasn't supposed to be in the video, he just happened to be available. Don't know if the outfit was his though!
“Handy” and “The Saga Begins” PLEASE!!!
Oh! And also “Foil”!!!
Definitely the Saga Begins
Saga Begins is amazing
In the mid-1800s when photography was a new thing, they used to take pictures of the deceased in different poses so they would have a remembrance of the person. Granted the selfie craze happening now probably isn't being done with the same respect that the original death pictures were.
Exposure times were extremely long back then. A dead person's nature of being stationary makes them a perfect subject matter because any movement would blur on the exposure. Dead people made lively images. It was the living that appeared as though they were ghosts.
My grandmother had several of these types of photos. Many times it was the only image people had of their loved one
Usually they were photos of children. Heart wrenching
1:14 - "Taking a picture of your food and showing it. Why are you doing that? JUST EAT IT." He said, inadvertently quoting another Weird Al song...LOL.
I’m not having a great day, my dad passed away Friday night from Alzheimer’s, but you made it better and made me laugh along with weird Al. Thank you
Sincere condolences for your loss. Life can get rough, so we have to grasp the bright spots where we can.
So sorry for your pain. I can completely relate. (lost my Mother to complications of the same about 2 years ago)
I found it best to embrace the "At least they aren't suffering anymore" mindset. (sounds trite, but in the case of Dementia, it very much applies)
May your grief pass quickly & your recovery not be done alone.
@@sharkdentures3247 thanks alot. Definitely the hardest thing I’ve faced. So sad and he was only 72
So sorry for your loss
@@kadianae thank you
First awesome day at a new job, doing what I love.. what’s better? Watching this video! ( on my lunch break) If you review Weird AL, this song is a MUST to review, and you DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Your reaction is priceless with the voice and commentary of a gentleman… keep up the good work!
P.S. 4:07 YES That is Jack Black!
Someone once commented:
“Weird Al: ( on phone) Hey Jack, would you like to be…….
Jack Black: ( rushes right over before the sentence was done)”
Your Horoscope for Today is one of his originals. Celebrating Ska and people who live by their daily horoscopes. It's one of my absolute favorites!
1989 as my grandmother's casket was about to be closed, my grandfather asked for a photo to be taken of her body. Night after the funeral, I gave him his pills about 1230 am when he was going to the bathroom, then woke about 630am to find him dead. Pictures were not opened and put in his casket.
I have a Weird Al "Tacky" t-shirt that was given to me years ago and I love it. It is FLAMBOYANTLY tacky.
The only thing that makes him even more special is the passion he brings live.
Love watching all these Weird Al reactions flowing through, prob one of the highlights of my day. Still waiting on you opinion of Word Crimes.
You didn't have to wait long, lol
Would love to see you react to Weird Al's "BoB"
Also this was shot in one continuous shot, with Weird al changing outfits during the song.
Yes all the people are famous.
Actually They worked around Jacks schedule to make it work.
Saw Weird Al in concert, and he opened with this song. They showed him dancing to the stage on the big screen while acting it out. He was amazing, the show was so well done, the set and dress changes were well thought out and planned. I was able to get a picture with R2-D2 at the end of the show as well. FYI, I was wearing socks with sandals at the show in support
Hahahaha... it was hilarious watching you realize that everyone else was a celebrity once you saw Jack Black. Yes, that was Aisha Tyler (new host of Whose Line, voice of Lana on Archer), Margaret Cho (stand-up comedian, does many guest spots on sitcoms), Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), and Kristen Schaal (voice of Louise Belcher on Bob's Burgers, many TV and movie appearances).
The steadycam was operated by Colin Hudson, who most recently worked as a steadycam operator on Marvel's Shang Chi.
Been waiting for another Weird Al reaction.
I love this one because I am absolutely tacky.
We i saw him a few years back, this is how he opened the show. He started outside walking down the street, into the venue, down the aisles and up on stage. It was a great show.
You are awesome. Of every react video of this song, you are the first who noticed the one shot. It's one of my favorite nuances of this video and I've seen dozens of react videos for this and you're the only one I've noticed who noticed the one shot
One Weird Al song i would love to see you do is CNR.. Its about Charles Nelson Reilly. For those that dont remember him he was a standard on the old Match Game show.
Loved CNR on ‘Match Game’ (& Gene Rayburn too); and Paul Lynda on ‘Hollywood Squares’
I used to watch him on Saturday mornings on a show called "Lidsville"
the people in the video are
Aisha Tyler known for playing Andrea Marino in the first season of Ghost Whisperer, Dr. Tara Lewis in Criminal Minds, Mother Nature in The Santa Clause films, and voicing Lana Kane in Archer
Margaret Cho is a stand-up comedian
Eric Stonestreet actor and comedian. He is best known for portraying Cameron Tucker in the sitcom Modern Family
Kristen Schaal actress, voice artist, writer, and comedian. She is best known for her roles as Mel on the HBO series Flight of the Conchords, Louise Belcher on Bob's Burgers, and Mabel Pines on Gravity Falls.
Jack Black-- we all pretty much know who Jack Black is
Not only was this a one-shot, but between the first verse and the last one Weird Al had a costume change and got down several flights of stairs
When this song was still fairly new on his tours if you went to see him in concert this would be the opening song and he would actually open with it by there be a video screen on stage and suddenly you'd see him singing in his song and walking along and what it was was he would be somewhere some distance outside away from the venue walking towards the venue and the camera would follow him and he would sing the song until he got to the venue and you would see him walk through the backstage area and then eventually at the same time as you were still seeing him on the camera on the screen you would start to see him walking down through the audience towards the stage. He would wind up completing the song on stage.
Fun fact: Jack Black was the 'centerpiece' (For lack of a better term) in Weird Al's mind. He called Jack up first and mentioned the video, and when Jack said he was only available on X day, Weird Al said something along the lines of "What a coincidence! That's when we're shooting it!" Apparently, he scheduled the entire shoot around Jack Black's schedule because he was a necessary ingredient.
The irony of talking about Weird Al singing about taking pictures of food, and saying, "just eat it"!
Back ages ago, they use to have portraits taken post mortem, families often couldn't afford photographs often so many times children's photo shot after death, or family photos done.
It was a single continuous shot... which makes it even more impressive that Weird Al is at both the start and end, wearing different outfits. Yes, he ran down the stairs and changed clothes to get ahead of the camera.
Jack Black is a good friend to Al. Al asked him if would like to be in this music video Tacky. Jack was out in New York firming a t.v. show or movie, something like that and told Weird Al he could only do it on a certain day, that he had off from filming. Weird Al said great! They filmed this video on the one day that Jack had off. Jack flew back to California and filmed the Tacky video. He then got back on the plane and flew back to New York! What a great friend! True story!
I love how the whole video is one long shot, no cuts.
Oddly enough I work in the Deathcare industry and Our Funeral home offers LiveStreaming of funerals. I thought it was odd until I was shown the live view of a couple hundred people gathered in India where this man was from. I changed my opinion about it ever since. But, no don't take selfies with the dead. We treat them with reverence. Great channel BTW.
5:30 to quote a tumblr post:
jack black is literally the only human that never needs any context for me. I could see him going anywhere and doing anything. like if i got abducted by aliens and saw him just wandering around the spaceship putting bugle chips on his fingers to make it look like he has claws i would be like ‘that’s some classic jack black right there’ and not even question it
I feel like MrLboyd has a special glow when he watches Weird Al, so I am gonna ask, "Are You Pregnant"
All famous. No worries. Awesome reaction.
In order:
1. Aisha Tyler (Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Criminal Minds, Archer)
2. Margaret Cho (stand-up comedienne)
3. Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family)
4. Kristen Schaal (Bob's Burgers, too many to mention)
5. Jack Black (obviously known to you)
Yes, they are all comedians. The girl in yellow suspenders is Margaret Cho, the guy in the hot pink jacket and lime pants is Eric Stonestreet (well known in his role on modern family), and of course Jack Black. The other two are also comedians, but I'm unfamiliar with them. ^^'
The fact is back in the day you were nobody till Weird Al did a Parody of your song , it was like now your really on top
Got to check out his mock interviews with celebrities!
The eminem one is awesome!!!
So many great comedians in this video!
Weird Al often has great comedian cameos, but this video is the greatest in that department.
I'm here because you reviewed one of the most important songs we could share today. I still can't wait though for Couch Potato!
You have to hear "Another One Rides the Bus" off of his first Album
AWESOME before he became Nationally Known.
Late commend add, but yes, these are all famous comedians. (Jack Black being a Comedian musician who has turned into a great actor too, but started doing just comic-music related work). Margaret Cho, Aisha Tyler, Eric Stonestreet, Kiersten Schaal, and Jack Black. These people are very very proud to be in this video (and I assure you Jack Black was not just asked to show up to dance, he's tacky and proud, and I love him for it).
One shot, multiple celebrities cutting in, lip singing and reintroducing him. All.one
Awesome reactions man keep it up I love seen your reaction to weird al. For your next reaction do weird al headline news. Keep up the great work
They are all stars…. Lol. Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Shaal, and Jack Black. Love this video❤️💕❤️
My beloved cousin passed in 2016 of a brain aneurism and I got to see on FB her "friends" posting selfies with her coffin. It was very upsetting to me. Beyond tacky
4:12 LOL!!
edit: selfies with the deceased...that is not the way I want to remember that person.
As you noticed the video is one continuous shot... with an elevator which is always a nightmare to time properly. But also notice that after Al starts the video he has to get down to the street and change clothes before the camera get there.
Yes Lenear! It is a single shot video, LIVE, on one of the late night talk shows. I think Steven Colbert? Selfies with the dead? Another reason to be cremated!!!
Ever since I saw Weird Al's Tacky, I've been looking for a pants like the one he wore in the video. To this date, no luck.
So it took them five or six takes to nail this video, and each time Al had to run from the top floor of the building down the stairs to the street while changing clothes. In his late 50s.
Dude is in shape, all I'm sayin'.
I'm with ya living under a rock I've listened to weird Al older stuff I had no idea he was still doing it
I thought white and nerdy was one of his last lol
Yes, everyone in that video are or were famous. They are all comedians that were at the top of their game when the video was made.
At the start of a Conan episode Al sang this walking from I think his limo through the theatre and back stage onto the stage.
Im surprised you didnt catch that Weird Al changed his outfit and got downstairs in the one continuous shot.
That's great you picked up the continuous shot....yes it is and every time he does it live he does it the same way...starting in the dressing room all thru the crowd to start the show...His costume changes on set are in a league of their own
ya it totally is 100% him and an actual one-take with an absolute ton of famous comedians taking part
this is a newer track but one that made it big online and on the radio again
His BEST ever is Word Crimes. You would appreciate it so much!!!
Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Jack Black, Kristen Schall and Eric Stonesteet, yeah I would say they're all famous 😂. And yes the production is phenomenal.
It took me 5 years to realize the woman in the elevator is the voice actor for Mabel Pines in Gravity Falls, Kristen Schaal.
Jack Black is less of an actor and more of the avatar of one of the more chaotic trickster gods. He just shows up and you don't question it.
Can you do more Weird Al.... We've got a whole slew of Weird Al
Ebay (his spoof of backstreet boys)
Whatever you like (his spoof of T.I. whatever you like)
Couch Potato (his spoof of Eminem)
Trash day (his spoof of hot in here)
Actually, Al has a Rolodex of celebrity friends and Jack black was one of them and he had only had one date available so the whole video shoot was based around Jack black’s availability.
This is my first time hearing this song as well and wow it's a great one! I also appreciate the single shot I think its a nod to the Happy music video doing the same thing, thanks I love these Weird reactions
so the cinematic concept of doing a single take is called "Mise-en-scène" there have been several experimental films that practice this approach including The Battleship Potempkin
and as far as what to watch next i would suggest one of the polka compilations. you have seen many of his direct parodies but if you want to see what he can do with an acordian you need to watch some of the polkas.
i would recommend "Angry White Boy Polka" or better yet "NOW That's What I Call Polka" just because the songs are WAY more relevant to younger viewers. but PLEASE do Some of the polka medleys
The filming of this video was literally scheduled around Jack Black being available.
Thank you, I've enjoyed your dive into Weird al.
Yea all the dancers are comedians, voice actors, and writers
Yes they are all in fact famous. They are all worth checking out. And… Yoda and The Saga Begins.
When you realized all those dancers were famous people: priceless.
Thanks for doing this.
The "living under a rock" idea feels very true after seeing all these first time reactions to #1 Billboard albums, Grammy winners, and hit television stars.
Did you see "I Love Rocky Road" because I'd love to see your reaction to one of my favorite Weird Albums songs.
Believe it or not, that was a trend quite a while ago. I inherited my grandmother and great grandmother's photo albums and there are funeral pictures included in the mix. I thought they were weird until I found out that it was a trend eighty to a hundred years ago or so.
@4:11 when he realizes he didn't recognize anyone. Lmao
What camera are you using? Looks awesome.
I see a lot of reaction videos and people using decent setups but nothing as clear as yours. Probably have a lot of light on as well.
I watched one reactor from near her begining, and was using her iphone to record. Constantly apologizing about how bad it looked, when it looked just fine. When she finally got a "professional" camera, it looked worse.
@@Eidlones The more light you have the better things will definitely look.
The iPhone does a really good job, too.
I see people using some costly gear and it never looks as crystal clear as these videos. I noticed it more so in recent videos.
yes, They are all well known actors and comedians. Aisha Taylor, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet , Kristen Schaal, Jack Black
Jack Black would definitely freaking just walk in a twerk for comedy's sake. The man is a LEGEND. All the comedians in this vid are absolute bosses and just killing it.
You should check out the movie 1917. The entire movie is filmed to be one continuous shot. It actually isn't, but it flows exactly like it is. Its very interesting.
cameo appearances by Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal, and Jack Black.
I like how foil turned out.
I have a 3 parter:
Crash test dummies: mmm mmm mmm mmm
Weird Al's parody: headline news
Crash test dummies ft weird al: mmm mmm mmm mmm/ headline news live performance.
Getting a polka: I’m okay enough to be noticed
Getting a parody: I’ve made it!!!! 🥲
Yes they are all comedians.
"Why take a picture of every meal you've had...just eat it:"... yeah.. he did that parody too!!!!!!!!!!
You should see this done in concert it is awesome.
Handy ,foil and the saga begins are pretty great
"Jack Black wasn't originally supposed to be in the video, he was just walking by and they roped him in" is my headcanon now.
Plus, who would ever say no to Weird Al? *cough*Prince*cough*
They got Eric Stonestreet who plays cam on Modern Family as well
Mr. Boyd....are you a radio guy? just asking cause, well, you have a voice that would be IDEAL for radio (that's supposed to be a compliment, not an insult lol)
I am really excited for when we start on the polkas!
they are all famous comedians and/or comic actors.
Kristen Schaal was in Flight of the Conchords. You would love Flight of the Conchords.
the realization of everyone being famous after seeing jack was great xD
