This really is a nice repair.
Personally I don't think I would have ground down the extra until I was done forming everything. I'm just saying who cares if it looks perfect or not, I'm assuming this is on an older vehicle and honestly structural integrity matters so much more. I suppose grinding it flat and then putting another layer over it is a great idea but I just don't care if I grind it flat and make it look nice. As long as it's structurally sound that's what matters to me. Only my opinion of course. Your videos get a million more views in mine man, good for you dude!

There are these little metal things, applied with an electric hot end, that can be used for stabilising the old and new plastic components. You just clip off the tips and they sink into the material. Very useful, if used correctly.

For that particular spot it’s an easy and genuinely best fix in terms of value. Costs just about half an hour of labour and almost zero overheads (there’s always some plastic around). You can argue about metal mesh etc, but honestly this thing broke likely because of unskilled person messing with it. There’s no way it will break again just by itself and plastic is well melted with the rest of factory part. 1000x better than replacing the light or bracket, cheap as fck as well 👌
