Me and my father went to this game and left way early during the blowout. While stuck on the highway, we listened to the stirring comeback on the radio with Gil Santos and Gino Capeletti on the call. The Patriots had tied the game by the time we got home and watched Franklin miss another chip shot field goal on television, leading to this loss. Pops really thought that Ramsey was the qb of the future for the Patriots...
I was at this game with two friends of mine. We left the stadium along with thousands of other non-believers halfway through the 4th quarter since the Pats were down by 3 TDs. We got out to the parking lot and heard the 1st TD over the intercom. By the time we hit the highway next to the stadium, Pats scored TD #2. Halfway back to Dorchester, we heard TD #3 on the radio. When we got back to the house we saw Tony miss field goal #1 in regular time which would have won it. Injured Tony Franklin missing FG #2 in O.T. just added more drama. Best game I ever missed for sure - never leave a game when you're down by 21 points with 8 minutes left to go in the 4th... D'oh! Thank you for posting - I still talk about this game to anyone who'll listen.
Same thing happened to me in 2000 for the Monday Night Miracle at the Meadowlands. We left after the 3rd Quarter ended with the Jets down 30-7. Missed the greatest Jets & MNF comeback of all time as the Jets won 40-37 in OT
I'll add to this cuz i was at this game too. Where I sat I was surrounded by my high school's rival football team and it wasn't pretty. When it was 10-31 they left, and then TOM led them on that crazy wild 3 TD surge and was in position to get that fg try; THAT'S WHEN THEY CAME BACK. The rivals kept hanging around until the eagles made that final fg drive. The they left. If it wasn't for about 30 trusting fans protecting me I would've been in the hospital, or in jail cuz I was ready to fight my high school's rival! When I got home I let my brother have it! HE GAVE ME THAT TICKET TO THE GAME.
My first game ever! 8 years old. Stayed to the end. Always remember Franklin barefoot missing those kicks. Also Philly missing as well. Great first game to get a kid hooked on Patriot football.
This game was not sold out and was blacked out in Boston. My friend Steve and I attended. Some missed opportunities by both teams. Despite several penalties, it was entertaining game. Thanks for the press dynasty memories.
Still hard to fathom how back in the beginning Brady was first drafted so low and then if Drew Bledsoe isnt knocked out silly by the Jets Mo Lewis early in the 2001 season we maybe never knew what he would have become.
Listened to this game on armed forces radio. The commentary team said the windy conditions were the strongest they had been in and that the pats should never have attempted the overtime field goal. Also. According to ex pats kicker John Smith, Franklin was an unreliable kicker when it came to crunch time and so no surprise when he fluffed his lines.
Yep, I don't recall this team. Bradshaw was mostly w Vern Lundquist on games before switching to the pre game shows on CBS in 1990, later of course going to Fox.

Do you guys have access to any of the following Eagles games? Saints @ Eagles Week 2, Cowboys @ Eagles Week 7, Eagles @ Cardinals Week 8, Cardinals @ Eagles Week 11, Eagles @ Jets Week 15. All from 1987.I know Dallas, Philly Week 7 is up on RUclips but there's a5 minute gap from 10:00 to 5:00 in the fourth quarter that's missing.
My first game that I went to. Me, my dad, my buddy Rob, and his dad. Fucking Tony Franklin! Been a Patriots fan forever! A #12 was QB that day. My first playoff game was with another #12. In fact, his first, the Snowbowl!
That's crazy, this was my first game ever and I didn't even realize it but the snow bowl was my first playoff game. I've now been to over 150 home and road games.
I heard Randall Cunningham had an epic career-long run in this game. Can anybody tell me at what point in the video the play is so I don't have to sit through the entire thing (up until that point) ?
it's crazy to think the Eagles D Line then had Reggie White, Jerome Brown, and Clyde Simmons, but they aren't as good Fletcher Cox, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham, and Hassan Reddick, who are bigger, stronger, and faster. At Quarterback they had Randall Cunningham who is not as big, strong, or as fast as Jalen Hurts.
@@richiesspeedshop82 1987 was the Saints 21st season since coming into the league. Just insanity it took them that long not to just make the playoffs but finish over 500. YIKES, then after finally getting into the playoff this year they get blown out at home in the Wildcard game losing 44-10 to Minnesota.

This is a classic game. I remember watching this on TV, I was in 5th grade. Thanks for putting this video up Homer!

Tom Ramsey. The last New England Patriot to wear the #12 before another Tom came along 13 years later. Some guy named Brady or something.
Still hard to fathom how back in the beginning Brady was first drafted so low and then if Drew Bledsoe isnt knocked out silly by the Jets Mo Lewis early in the 2001 season we maybe never knew what he would have become.
i remember listening on the radio thanks to our no sell out blackouts
I remember those days.

reggie white, what a beast
2:41:16 and this about the end for tony franklin in new england...(he has the distinction of scoring the first superbowl points ever for the patriots)
Ironically he did the same for the Eagles In 1981.
Dick Stockton and Terry Bradshaw in the booth?
Yep, I don't recall this team. Bradshaw was mostly w Vern Lundquist on games before switching to the pre game shows on CBS in 1990, later of course going to Fox.
Dick Stockton is the only man sounded like a million bucks calling a NBA game or a NFL game
Good: I am watching all my 1987 games, and I really wanted a better version...mine was 196 mbs...thanks ma man!!!
no problem!

keith byars is to date the last patriot to score a td in the first quarter of a superbowl
RIP Mike Pitts
Tony F’n Franklin da barefooted Kicker did what He did best back in ‘87 - shat His pants & miss
Kicks
And to think in only 30 years these teams would meet in the Super Bowl.
In fact, also just 17 years later in Jacksonville too.
My first game ever.
gotta say this was a pretty lively crowd for that pats era...even moreso since it wssnt sold out
Do u have Jaguars @ Panthers from 2011, week 3?
Why
I heard Randall Cunningham had an epic career-long run in this game. Can anybody tell me at what point in the video the play is so I don't have to sit through the entire thing (up until that point) ?
5:35 reggie white killing our qb on back to back plays seen that somewherelse
1:43 in the grass...needed that ref 20 years later
Exactly! Where the F was that Ref on 2/3/08 !
it's crazy to think the Eagles D Line then had Reggie White, Jerome Brown, and Clyde Simmons, but they aren't as good Fletcher Cox, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Brandon Graham, and Hassan Reddick, who are bigger, stronger, and faster.

Damn Bruce Armstrong, you let reggie white run right through you
Reggie White did that to EVERYBODY.
2:19:15 even though they ended up winning in ot i wonder how bad buddy laid into the defense for folding in crunch time
Damn it I got to go take a crap
They never retired Ramsey's #. Wow.
Best QB they ever had other than maybe Brady......
1:21:24 is he serious? first saints winning season ever?
holy shit thats correct...pretty fucking sad
Yes, they sucked back then.
Yes, even with the overrated Archie Manning they sucked. The fans also wore paper bags over thier heads that said the 'Aints. Thats how bad they were.

Fly Iggles Fly
#12 Tom Brady: Lost 3 Super Bowls
#12 Tom Ramsey: Lost 0 Super Bowls
Therefore, Ramsey > Brady
lol😃
Who thought of the trash that the patriots wear today
2:00
"QB 12 Tom Ramsey"
Why did I just picture tom Brady with the face of Gordon Ramsey
'block the lb u bloody donkey!'
15:09 fooled absolutely no one. some real goaline ineptitude from the eagles even with the free downs from the penalty
