@@nykichr or even a GCN-Kids although the monetary side of kid specific content is pretty iffy now after all the changes on RUclips because of people abusing the system
Yhea she delt with the scripted stuff really well. Like when she was talking about how she learnt and added the advice parts about holding a door, using clip less. Really natural. Mind you kids seem to find talking to a camera far more normal than older generations. I guess they've grown up with everyone they know having a video camera of some kind on them. She was brilliant.
Thanks Ruby .... my daughter is same age as you and we are starting to go out cycling together... shell enjoy watching this. .... You did a great job 👏
It would also be interesting to see Ruby’s power numbers and how much she can improve if you give her a training plan for some weeks. And then she can drop Ollie.
Well, being serious for a moment, Ruby is already a handy racer. Additionally performance-based coaching for under 14s is not permitted by British Cycling. All coaching has to be focussed on skills.
Wow, just 30 seconds in an I am more than solidly impressed with Ruby. She is an incredible rider AND presenter! This was the video I didn't know I needed to see. I don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said, but I think it bears repeating. Great job, Ruby! As a dad, I love this video so much. Very heartwarming to see her so talented and confident. She definitely holds her own with Manon.
Maybe GCN can cover youth cycling races/events? seems cool to know what kind of events are out there for youths....i wish i had similar opportunities as a kid
What an impressively gifted and telegenic young girl! Ruby & Manon have truly convinced me to finally give those rollers a try! Kudos to GCN for yet another groundbreaking presentation.
I already saw someone tag Manon on social media showing their young girl take Ruby as an inspiration to challenge herself and roll with one hand off the bars, and that's the biggest victory there : Encouraging kids to try rollers, or cycling in general and have fun challenging themselves a little. Great great work GCN !
Me: Spent at least a week trying to ride rollers. Kind of started riding rollers. Decided I'm ready to trick-hop off said rollers.Rocket launched myself directly into a shoe cabinet with a mirror standing on it. Shoe cabinet fell. Shoes and broken glass everywhere. Spent the rest of the afternoon removing shards of broken glass from inside of shoes and tending to my frail wounded body (and ego). Sold rollers on ebay. Ruby: Pass me that skipping rope pls.
Several years ago, Ruby rode to the top of the Stelvio Pass as a fund raiser for charity. She is very impressive, especially for someone so young! I hope she continues to have fun and stays involved with cycling for a long time.
Really cool that you gave Ruby the opportunity to present with you today, she has done a really good job, good presenting from her. Definitely could join in a few more times :)
Wow!!! We are going to see a lot of love for Ruby! Got a feeling we will see a lot more of her in the future. We'll done young lady. We'll done Manon. #girlpower
@@teuast oh yeah they can find someone who looks like a mini Ollie and who's a bit of a geek. I just think finding a kid who basically talks about Aero, light weight bikes, climbing mountains and new cycling tech as their main subjects of conversion might be a bit harder...
Girl power! Go Ruby - I’m trying to get my 9 yo daughter hooked on cycling and some Ruby / GCN videos would be inspiring I think. More kids content please!
Nice to see race reporter ruby again...yes i used rollers in my teens. we did sprint races in malls to give exposure to our Winnipeg cycling club... we used toe clips in those days. i did master getting on solo, but these kids are so advanced now omg
This is gold! Ruby is a natural on the bike and a natural presenter. The other presenters could really learn a lot from her as well as a great opportunity for GCN to do some videos encouraging junior riders - that would've helped me a few years ago if it existed!
this is great! now i can send this video to my friends and encourage them to try rollers: "it's so easy a kid can do it!". never mind that she's an incredibly talented kid... i am looking forward to seeing more of ruby!
Best video in my feed today! I love Ruby her you tube videos are amazing! GCN + Ruby = WINNING FORMULA! I would love to see a series for young riders with Ruby as host!
Started on rollers with the often suggested method of using a doorway. I now have a small table beside me which is helpful as a place for support when taking a short break also a lot easy to grab my water bottle from. I have a short piece of thick cardboard on either side of the rollers to use as step stools I found that it is much easier to start with a natural height to step up from, I found this to be a huge improvement.
as everyone mentioned Ruby has a natural talent , would be a great ambassador for young people her age and with Manon makes for a great presenter team , hopefully will see more of Ruby , still remember her interviewing peter sagan , good job Ruby
Thanks for this and yes you two do make it look easy. I got a set of rollers a couple of months ago and I make sure to ride every day. I'm already seeing and feeling improvement in length of time on the bike and increases in speed. I did find out fairly quickly that the shop had to change the rear tire to a training tire. With the road tires on the bike I found that the rear tire became too hot too soon, even at it's maximum rated pressure, and developed bumps in the rubber that became worse with more and more use. The harder, thinner training tire works very well and the 'bumpy' issue didn't show on the front tire. I still use a shelf or a doorway when I ride these days until I can up to more speed. By the way, it's fun watching your videos while riding or watching bike training videos of great places to ride around the world!
The timing for this video couldn't be more perfect. I just bought rollers. I already have a couple bruises from the first couple tries. It was fascinating how much I had to make my posture better to be comfortable. It's being really fun.
I kept coming off my rollers and nearly sold them. Then I watched this video of young Ruby and now I've managed to master them at last. I'm over 50😢 Young Ruby is a very smart kid. Mum and Dad must be so proud. Dare I say it, maybe an Olympic Champion of the future🥇 Don't give up Ruby!!!
Imaging a specific cycling channel for kids to bring them into the sport. With kid specific content like how to learn riding a bike, how to become more confident in traffic, excersises for improving your balance, introductory sessions for easy bike tricks, introduction into bike technics and so on. Ruby would be the perfect presenter for that and could be accompanied by another presenter from different channels depending on the topic, GMBN for tricks section for instance.
When i learned to ride a bike, i just rode. No media/social media influence involved: only me and my bike and eventually, my friends. We rode to get from A to B, rode to pass the time, and sometimes even raced each other. Again, no media/social media involved that would plaster me with ads.
I use my cycling rollers a few times a week as they are the best training tool I have. I have cycled the distance of the ring of kerry on my rollers 200km just for fun.
Ruby is truly amazing. After listening to her, I'd say she should be a full-time GCN presenter! I've ridden rollers since my late teenage years (and I am decades past that now), but never got even close to what Ruby can do. Got to the point of riding "no hands" and could remove a t-shirt. Not anymore. Would highly recommend rollers for developing a really smooth pedal stroke and a high cadence. Roll On.
Never been a fan of rollers but I can see the practical aspects like going into the garden or not taking wheels off. Less outlay and maintenance a bonus.
Great to see a 12year old doing well in cycling and being in the show. I would be interested in seeing what racing opportunities kids have and how they progress. Ruby was well experienced and well spoken. Thanks!

well done girls. i did ride the rollers some 50 years ago and did use the doorpost trick all the time, and sweating like a pig lol. one little trick when you begin is to put two strips on the front roll to keep the bike in the middle of the roller, it is also great to improve the ridder stability another trick is to film yourself from the front for stability and from the side to improve your attitude on the bike. cheers.
I have the same blue rollers - I added a small resistance unit from a Japanese manufacture so I can do some structured training (I have a power meter). Rollers are really more engaging then fixed turbo trainers.
