There's actually a call back here from the first film if you look closely she's actually missing her finger. And what did Beetlejuice give Lydia a ring with a finger in it so nice reference

We've waited so long for this Sequel and the fact that so many of the original characters are coming back is such a great hook, but I know none of them would be on board if it was not going to be great. I don't even care if there are a lot of "Member Berries" - I'm just so stoked that this is happening. The first one wasn't Oscar material, and I have no expectations for this one to be - just do right by the fans. The trailer alone is gold. I'm super excited to see Michael Keaton back in the role - and Carherine O'Hara is a treasure.

The first movie came out when I was 39. I thought the stop motion when cheap than, but the movie was top rate. You kids worrying about the effects is funny to me.
If you didn’t have the callbacks and references to the first film, you would complain you would say where are the references to the first film this film is completely new. There is nothing from the first film. They could’ve at least done ABC or D. No I think after 35 years having those references is called for and necessary because people do indeed want to see them because that’s what they remember.
I wouldn't say the funny face is a callback. I see it as just something that's part of the character. He's always been quirky like that. Also, having seen the film, they absolutely ignore the aging. Lol
80s Winona Ryder was the goth girl 90s was Christina Ricci '00s was still Christina until Angelina Jolie did her goth type style i didnt like it but to each their own we really didnt get a good goth girl celeb in the '10s but here in the '20s its Jenna Ortega

I just like they're not trying to reinvent Beetlejuice. It's what we know.
Beetlejuice was actually only in the 1st movie about 10 minutes so even if he hits every beat from the original there will be new stuff.

My theory about 'aging Beetlejuice', if they address it at all, is that it has something to do with the fact that he's had to un-shrink his head.
