So much information given freely by you helps people immensely. The weight of items these days are but 1/4 of what they used to be 40-50 years ago, it certainly is a time for travelling.....cheers Abbie. Great video. 👍🏼😊

Thank you very much for your videos, Abbie! I used them to prepare for my Via Alpina Switzerland hike a couple of years ago (managed to escape UK between two Covid lockdowns ))) ) and I'm watching them again in preparation for TMB this year. After hiking VA (end of August, I had all kinds of weather, from blisteringly hot through torrential rains and to snow) need to say that everyone is veeery different. I really didn't need that many warm clothes and in a couple of cases where I did, I used layers. Used hat and gloves only once and only because I did a touristic detour to Jungfraujoch. I was using packable rain jacket I had bought in Sports Direct, excellent for both rain and wind, weighs nothing, very compact. Hygiene was also very important to me ))) so I took merino wool underwear, socks, bras and thermals. Cost like a private jet but was worth every penny. I also used Sawyer mini filter and you can drink right from it (I screwed it on top of the plastic bottle). After hiking VA in trail running shoes (with 11 kg backpack) agree that might not have been the best idea. Trail runners definitely have advantages (when it's hot, when you go uphill, when you do day hike w/o backpack, no need to take another pair of shoes), but their disadvantages (during descents, especially on the trail full of stones sticking out of it, when crossing streams) slowed me down significantly (had to watch where I put my feet). Though still can't make myself commit to boots as they are very heavy. But judging from the videos of TMB trail, it's definitely for boots, not for trail runners (unless you're not carrying more than 3-5 kg on your back).

I did the TMB a few years ago, part camping, part Rufuge and got my pack down to about 10kg. Next time I would just do Refuges and cut the pack down even further. I agree camping option is not easy and gave me unwanted stress!

Great energy, Abbie. Your excitement is infectious. I've done the TDM and it is amazing, going again this summer with a partner. I highly recommend the Knife Edge Tour du Mont Blanc guide book. Has actual maps, places where you can camp, stay, route planning itineraries, etc...Everything you need to know.
Ps. Mont Blanc is not the highest mountain in Europe. The highest are in Georgia/Russia I believe. Doesn't take away from it in anyway though, spectacular hike.

Abbie, when I hit the trail there are three things I must have.
    1. Tissue
    2. Tissue
    3. Tissue
Everything else in my bag is frivolous luxury.
Looking forward to the TMB film.

Excellent vid. If you are planning to stay in refuges most insist that you have a sheet sleeping bag. My flight cover also doubled as a pack liner; killing two birds with one stone. A small sponge is a useful item for drying your tent in the morning. I managed to find gas canisters in an outdoor shop in Les Houches. In terms of guide books I cannot recommend the Knife Edge guide book too highly, it contains really clear 1:25,000 IGN mapping and the route descriptions seemed more accurate than those in the Cicerone guide.

Hi Abbie, Off on TMB in June 23 and looking into anything we might need to know flying there from the UK so would appreciate any advice. Maybe it’s a good topic for a video. What you can/can’t travel with etc. loads of American videos on the subject, but struggling to find much that references international travel, particularly in Europe.

Hi Abbie, I'm so glad to have found your channel. It is super interesting to learn about the brands found in Europe. As I live in Canada, I only have access to Usa brands, but it's so nice to see what you have access to. Anyways, keep up the good work!
    Cheers!

I love that you are plant based as much as possible.. and the carrying extra just in case someone else needs it would be something i would do too haha. I hope my pack weighs a lot less than that when i tramp the Cleveland Way later this year. Awesome movie... again.. thanks Abbie

Hi Abbie, I saw your full lenght movie about the TMB (and watching all your videos since) and decided immediately that I have to go and do that in the close future after the pandemic. What kind of sleeping bag do you recomend to bring for tenting (comfort/limit/extreme)? I found several packing listst, but mainly for sleeping in refuges and these mention only sb liners, which would be too cold for sleeping in a tent for sure. Thanks!

Hi Abbie great vids on the TMB, to the point where I'm hoping to do the trek next year . Did you say you camped all the way ? If so was there any real chance of you getting caught by the rangers? As I love to camp but sleeping in a hut with others isn't my thing as I'm a light sleeper . Many thanks 😊. Sam.
