Thanks for that . I grew up in Cliffside Park and worked there as a young teenager . Even on our days off we went to the park to play the pinball machines or just hang out. We were always there . Sigh what memories.😊

When we were kids during the 60's, we would go to Palisades Park at least 2- 3 times a year. It was the best place to spend a day with your family. We also enjoyed Freedom Land.
Thank you for the great memories.

I was born in 1952. When I was a kid this was the place to go. It was a sad day when they shut it down.😢

I was taken there as a very young child. The only thing I remember was a slowly turning barrel-like structure that you had to try to walk through. However, I remember the jingle very well from our black and white TV set.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised on a warm summer night that people would swear they heard the roar of the Cyclone, seen kids waving from where the skyride used to sail over the park with those spectacular views of the Hudson River, New York and the George Washington Bridge! Or even smell the odor of popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy, echoes from the past of a place we all loved and endeared!

And the hit song by Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, was written by a man who would go on to create TV shows like The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, bring back Treasure Hunt in the mid 1970's and create and host The Gong Show...Chuck Barris. And quite the Palisades connections to channel 11 back in the days.

Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon was born on December 4, 1936. He celebrated his 87th birthday on December 4, 2023 (Palisades Park was released in July 1962 and reached #3 on Billboard Hot 100 charts. It was his biggest hit).

Today, a single day at Disney World for a family of four, not including any hotel stays, will cost at least $500.

I went just once, but it was a magical and fun experience. The song by Freddy Cannon lives on, the commercial jingle unforgettable. As long as people remember it, it will be a part of pop culture.

Unfortunately, the number of people who remember it is dwindling with every passing year.

I remember looking across the Hudson River at 125th Street in Manhattan and seeing Palisades Amusement Park. Sometimes my parents would take us to Coney Island in Brooklyn. But when we did Really good at school We would be Treated to a day at Palisades Amusement Park.

The land could make more money for developers as skyrise buildings than it could as an amusement park. Greed.

I was in fifth grade when Freddy Cannon released Palisade' s Park and I was totally in love with a fourth grade girl at the time. (It never happened to you? Your loss) I dreamed of "you'll never know how great a kiss can feel when you're stopped at the top of a Ferris wheel." Nice memories, no kisses.

The owner was getting up in years so he decided to finally sell.
For decades,he gave the area an affordable place to go.
I don't usually praise a rich person but this guy was ok.
