    I think Cindy and Terry were more interested in consistent work than they were with the numbers and the behind the scenes stuff. They were happy with "The Brand" and were afraid to rock the boat. Dawn and Max on the other hand realized things weren't adding up the way they felt it should, and weren't afraid to go balls to the wall about it. In my opinion, Dawn was backed into a corner and given an ultimatum (they all were actually) and she called their bluff bc the big wigs didn't believe she'd walk. Now Max did the opposite. She really didn't want to leave, and tried to force the changes she felt the group needed. I think she felt that if she stood her ground they would come around. Instead they called her bluff, and moved on without her. I don't think that was her original intention. I'm sure she didn't foresee them actually doing En Vouge without her after having already lost Dawn. The whole situation is unfortunate.

    Sorry, I agree with Maxine and Dawn! You can’t let the music business pimp you whereasTerry and Cindy are fine working and not getting paid what they are truly worth. The funny thing is you see how these two never tell the complete truth why Dawn and Maxine wanted new management. And shame on the interview for taking their sides lauding “ they had checks waiting but didn’t want to do shows”. All Money isn’t good or right money. Bottom line I can guarantee you that at some point during that arbitration these two cited they are the leaders of the group by talent and the judge bought it. This is really a shame to be ran out of your own group when you are trying to fight for what is right for the whole group. This is so typical as black people we are our own worse enemy and refuse to do and challenge what is right willing to take table scraps when you don’t have to.

      Dawn has told how many stories? Did she quit over money or did she quit because Sylvia Rhone put pressure on her to committ to the group?
      Cindy and Terry won because they never left. They never stopped using the name in the market place, unlike Max and Dawn..

    There are two sides to every story. According to Dawn and Maxine, their problem wasn't that they didn't 'like' the manager, it was that the same manager was also managing their producer. That's clearly a conflict of interest - if it's true. There is only so much money in the pot and the artists and producer are eating from the same pot so how are you going to get the best deal for everyone when they are competing interests? Mess.

They could have accomplished so much more together, been paid their fair share for their contributions in the industry. Why don’t groups recognize they are a force together? Now they are all fragments of the the success they once had. I wish them all well.

      1st rule -- when you wan to know something, follow the $$$$$
      2nd rule -- make like an owl, stay quiet and out the picture, you see/learn everything. then you can spot the common denominator ...its a light at night that always reveal itself... that would be the manager, d.....whipped one who was already disrespectful which made it easy for him & others to pimp the others ladies until he couldnt get away with it any more. no way you should have a million dollar hits but make no money...some folks go along to get along and others have too much self respect not to notice and figure out whats what.

    En Vogue sold over 30 million records and yet none of them are millionaires. They weren't even making $1.00 for every record they sold!! They were one of the top groups in the 90's and yet made practically no money. Dawn wanted them to renogotiate but the other heffas were afraid of rocking the boat so they decided to stay and work for peanuts like dummies instead of sticking together and renegotiating their contract (something all artists are supposed to do.) THEN when they reunited in 2009 with all ORIGINAL members. Management wanted them to sign yet ANOTHER bad deal. Dawn said Hell Naw, and Maxine said, "'NOPE Ya'll wont get me this time" Max wanted them to get a better manager, and Cindy and Terri wanted to keep getting their little check, and now the REAL En Vogue will never be and they blew a chance for a major comeback and to make bank!.
    They should have learned from TLC. After they renegotiated and FIRED their manager and hired a better one, they got like $10-20 million a piece plus a better deal off sales and touring.

      That is simply untrue. Dawn & Maxine have both been in the media being negative toward Cindy, Terry AND Rhona. Perhaps you should look up the definition of the word "dignity," because Terry & Cindy have been nothing but professional about their former bandmates. Dawn is known in the industry for being "outspoken," but she will never be a successful solo star because she doesn't know how to deal with people.

  • @Support4MySingers
    @Support4MySingers 7 лет назад +5

    Let's be honest here. After you hear both sides of the story...what it ALL comes down to is...all four girls love each other, get a long with each other and agree on their music and singing and what they want out of their singing foursome!
    BUT at the end of the day Terri and Cindy have their own feelings about the business side while Max and Dawn have their own feelings about the business side! That's ALL this is about!
    If all four women agreed on how to handle business behind the scenes, then they would all still be making music together!
    The only thing that ever separated them was Terri and Cindi feeling one way, while Max and Dawn felt another!
    Because of that...they will never reform and make music or ever do live shows. You have two different teams who don't agree on how to handle their musical business.
    Terri and Cindy will only have each others backs and agreements while vice versa with Dawn and Max.
    If all it takes is for them to agree on management and their payroll then they could at least do a world tour singing their hits.
    But you will always have two different teams who just don't agree on the important things. So it's over for them and they have no one to blame but themselves. At least part ways on good terms as members. Remember the friendship, the great music and the good times and acknowledge that their differences in what they feel is better will never match and then just lay it all to rest and never speak of anything but the good times. The four of them will never agree on their personal business affairs so just part ways with love and focus on talking about what was good like us fans do!

    You can see so clearly why Terry and Cindy have ground rules around any future reunions - which they always leave the door open to. You trash your reputation and ability to get consistent work if there’s constant chaos and you can’t rely on your members to operate in good faith. Everything they’re saying here and have always said is perfectly reasonable and fair. And this seems to make way more business sense than the way Dawn and Max have operated - they’ve now tried twice and failed twice at forming a new group together, whereas Cindy, Terry and Rhona have been solid as a rock for over 10 years, and nearly 20 all told. That tells me a lot.

    I dunno. I see this from both sides. They all had valid points. Ultimately though, the only thing they should've done is decide that we are all either in total agreement about the change or we don't change. I keep thinking about the actors in the show Friends and how they successfully renegotiated their contracts over and over simply because they were going to stick together no matter what. I think Maxine (and Dawn) should've recognized that even if they were technically right they had no more power than any other member of the group and that they were a lot less marketable without them than with them.

    • @keepsit100atalltime9
      @keepsit100atalltime9 Год назад

      Clearly, Dawn and Max fumbled the bag. First Max was upset bc she felt it was a conflict of interest bc their mngr was also their producers mngr. Then I heard they renegotiated somewhere along the line to get the producers, who were also En Vogue's bosses, out the picture as their bosses. So then they would work directly with the label which they said they shouldn't have done. I'm still not understanding Max's issue.
      Then Dawn throwing a tantrum b/c she wanted to do a solo album. She should've left that alone and focused on En Vogue's album only. Why would you damn near complete an album only to say you're not signing the contract? You should have done all that before you got in the booth. Something tells me that contract wasn't as bad as Dawn makes it out to be.
      Keep in mind they never filed for bankruptcy. If they were really getting 2¢ per member per album they would have definitely had to file for bankruptcy.

    • @benfoldsfiveforever
      @benfoldsfiveforever 2 месяца назад

      With that logic, then why did Silvia Rhone even put the contract out AFTER like 80% of the album was finished? The proper way would have been to present the contract BEFORE they entered the studio to begin EV3. It smells like a setup to me, and that last-minute move on Silvia’s part kept them from renegotiation yet again. Very unfortunate for all 4 ladies; because not for nothing, I feel in my heart that Terry was a pawn in this whole thing too. I’ve seen interviews of her promoting her solo album and she sounds sincere when she said she was “terrified” to go solo and really had no intention of doing so, which leads me to believe that she was pressured to do it. I think she was being used, to keep all 4 from renegotiating for better terms as a united front

    • @filmgirlLisa
      @filmgirlLisa 2 месяца назад

      @@benfoldsfiveforever I dunno about the Terri part. People are terrified for many reasons. I've heard interviews of her saying that she didn't consider herself a good singer until she was a lot older (adult, I believe). It may be that she was insecure having been in a group most of her adult life and just not knowing if people want to here her solo.
      What I said has nothing to do with when the contract was presented. What I'm saying is that they should've got together and stuck together on whether to accept or reject the contracts. If Silvia stood in front of renegotiation then they should've as a four women group decided to stick together.
