And yet, he has demonstrated repeatedly that he isn't concerned about anyone. Under Harper, as Housing Minister, he didn't do anything to change the housing situation that has been developing for decades. Before that, he also tried to change voting rules in such a way. that he would have kept thousands of Canadians from being able to vote, mostly seniors, students and indigenous people. And more recently, on nine bills out of twelve that sought to address the housing issue in the last 8 years, he voted NO, just like he voted NO on making sure the hungry children that he pretends to care about, have at least one hot meal a day at school. On October 20, 2022, as chair of the Senate Committee on Banking, Commerce and the Economy, Pamela Wallin welcomed both Mark Carney and Steve Hanke as witnesses. As it happened, it was the day that Liz Truss resigned as the UK’s Prime Minister, allowing Carney to declare that “if one foot is on the brake with monetary policy, it’s foolish for the other to stomp on the gas.” He implied that only Liz Truss was to blame, and not at all Andrew Bailey, his successor as governor of the Bank of England. Carney gave his Liberal Party-friendly outline of what caused the big surge in inflation, with a strong emphasis on supply chain shocks. When Steve took over, he was dismissive of Carney’s analysis, because for him, inflation was always a monetary phenomenon. Wallin stoutly came to Carney’s defence: “Our last guest, as well, said that inflation is a domestic issue, so I think we’re on the same page here.” She then decided that she had had quite enough of this monetarist claptrap, and left the meeting, turning it over to her co-chair. So it was not that surprising, but quite disappointing, that in her discussion with Andrew about his excellent biography of Pierre Poilievre, the discussion never got around to one of Pierre’s greatest achievements as an MP. He saw the monetary expansion led by the Bank of Canada following the COVID recession leading to a ruinous inflation early on in 2020, while inflation was still under control. This was based on Hanke’s monetarist model that Wallin didn’t have the patience to listen to. Nor did Andrew and Wallin get around to discussing Mark Carney’s role in that expansion. As an advisor to PM Trudeau on the economic recovery he was enthusiastic about the US Fed’s average-inflation targeting framework, which led to the highest inflation in four decades in the US. The same framework was essentially adopted by the Bank of Canada under the more honest moniker “inflation overshooting at the effective lower bound” and also led to the highest inflation in four decades in Canada. It is a shame that this didn’t come up. If Pierre becomes Prime Minister within the next two years, he could be facing Inflation Overshooting Carney on the opposite side of the house as Leader of the Opposition or Shadow Minister of Finance. Probably Andrew is unfazed at this. He is quite brilliant, but his mind doesn’t naturally turn to monetary policy. Regarding what global warming policies Pierre might adopt to replace the Liberal backup tax once he axed the tax, perhaps the best policy might be to do nothing for a while and leave this issue to the provinces. At least two of the nine Supreme Court judges believed this was a provincial jurisdiction anyway. One of the advantages of a federal system is that provinces can experiment with policies and the best ones can be emulated by other provinces or by the federation. There is a danger of a rush to the bottom in terms of taxation of GHG emissions, but what we have seen in the present Trudeaupian dystopia looks more like an insane upward rush in tax rates, which are already creating a lot of misery for Canadians. In the medium or long term, the federal government may need to get reinvolved, with a constitutional amendment to affirm its powers if necessary.
Challenging the reporter while eating an apple is quite prophetic! It comes with the Tree of Knowledge, and knowledge is a cornerstone in a democracy. Pamela, your informative interview has helped me understand Mr. Poilievre, thank you. The nuances point to lessons from Preston Manning about democracy, especially with the comment “don’t suck up to me, tell the Canadian people and when they want it, we’ll give it a good look”. Help make Canada a Post-Trudeau National State.
As redundant as the current Senate is in its current format, I am all for having the senators elected by the Canadian people. It would bring more legitimacy and credibility. They (the senators) shouldn’t be appointed by the power that be. Any politician willing to tackle this issue ???

No, never again. We’ve lost trust in all of them. Most of them are also part of the WEF and the rest didn’t stand up to him, so what are those cowards good for? They will not succeed again until they get rid of everyone and start rebuilding from scratch. Even then I don’t know if I could ever trust them again, just like what the Ontario liberals did to themselves.
The fact that people thought the Liberals would squeak through, shows that even the most enlightened, educated people involved in or connected to politics, were able to predict the outcome in Toronto-St. Paul. Why is that? The loss by the Liberals under Trudeau was obvious to some of us less enlightened, much ahead of time. 😅
Why would you vote for someone who supports the un which aligned themselves with the wef sept 2015 for sustainable development using a third party to run Canada is absurd

I do so wish that all these politicians and their analyzers, supporters, critics, pundits, etc. would spend some time learning the truth about how finances and economics really work so there could be some serious discourse on what governments should and should not do. I highly recommend some very serious scholars, economists and writers: Michael Hudson, Bill Mitchel, Randy Wray, Warren Mosler, Steve Keen, and Stephanie Kelton. For those willing to read, they also have books available. Also, "Web of Debt" by Ellen Hodgson Brown and "Beyond Banksters" by Joyce Nelson are very revealing and informative. The best place to start, however, would be the short video by Bill Abrams entitled "The Crime of the Canadian Banking System". Please get informed so we can get busy with real solutions and not this unknowing, status quo, misinformed or austerity narrative the world has been choking and dying on seemingly forever. May the truth set us truly free.
We better not have to pay for those guards once he’s out, he should be using his own $130 million dollars he’s made by selling out the Canadian people the last 9 years. 21:55 he did talk about where his focus on environmental issues was. He talked a lot about carbon capture. Also, who cares? I think climate crap is a luxury issue, no one really cares about that right now unless the person is totally steeped in the Climate cult.
Great interview
Pamela Wallin - pseudo aristocrat at taxpayers expense. We do remember you, lady!
As redundant as the current Senate is in its current format, I am all for having the senators elected by the Canadian people. It would bring more legitimacy and credibility. They (the senators) shouldn’t be appointed by the power that be. Any politician willing to tackle this issue ???
we re still waiting for trudeau to mature!!! pierre poilievre for pm. conservatives for government! good to see pamela wallin!
It’s far too late for him. He’s like 50 years old already and you can’t teach an old snake new tricks.
If you just listen to Polieve, then you know what he's all about! If you're in favour of common sense, then Polieve is the guy for you! If you're in favour of wacko-ness, then you know who the guy is for you!!
I wasn’t surprised
I know people are ready for a change
If there’s a future for liberals it’s without Trudeau
They don’t have a future for a number of years. They outworn their welcome.
Canadians want a change.
I stayed up all night and watched the sweet moment when the Conservatives went ahead in real time and loved it.
Why would you vote for someone who supports the un which aligned themselves with the wef sept 2015 for sustainable development using a third party to run Canada is absurd
Who are you talking about?😮

From Amy Hamm: Prime Minister Pierre Poilievre will make woke heads explode. Canadians are very tired of woke. Common sense needs to return. What kind of Canada would want Gad Saad to leave.
My only worry is that he won’t be anti woke enough. I think fiscally he knows how to fix the economy, however the country needs to reverse a lot of this woke b.s. this is not about right for disadvantaged people, this has turned into a clown show, where supposed disadvantaged get special rights and he need to realize, no one wants that. We need to get back to everyone being treated equally, not special rights for only some. Not to mention politicizing the school curriculum, murdering people through MAID, forcing people to go against their own religious conviction and force them celebrate pride stuff. I can’t believe that even needs to be said.

Lets hope that PPs 13:57 length of time in government translates into his experience and knowledge thru hard knocks, tenacity and hands-on experience. (Not like the drama teacher)
Lets also hope that PP is true to his word. We will find out.
My god.
!!! THE DRAMA TEACHER. PUT AN END TO THAT FRAUD SOMEONE SOMEWHERE SOMEHOW. ! I need WORK I LIVE IN BC BUT UNLIKE THE REST. I DONT WORK FOR FREE 🆓
Love Andrew Lawton!! ❤
Does "Course Correct" as she says, mean listening to the Citizens and Voters, of Canada? LET'S HOPE SO..
Pierre is going to have to axe the carbon tax firstly. He has to ramp up the gas and oil sector in the west hard. Pipelines and selling our energy will make our economy stronger. Mining operations are also needed to go forward fast.
Good interview Thank you
I enjoyed the thoughtful answers Mr. Lawton gave to Pamela’s questions. I’ve been watching Pierre for a long time and feel even more confident that he is the man to turn Canada’s reputation around for the better internationally and domestically.
He didn't seek the leadership because he was struggling with priorities....and could he devote enough time and energy to both and still do a good job...the thoughts of a wise man and perfectionist....my concern for him is burn out.
It’s not a message but a feeling. I have liked Pierre for years. That hasent changed.
Populism is democracy in its purest form.
It would be interesting to see you two do such an analysis on each other 😅
Who actually listens to lamestream media. I haven't in 25 years
I do so wish that all these politicians and their analyzers, supporters, critics, pundits, etc. would spend some time learning the truth about how finances and economics really work so there could be some serious discourse on what governments should and should not do.
Pierre is the cleanest pair of underwear in the dirty laundry bin.
Nobody is more arrogant than Trudeau !!!!!
Pierre can go anywhere in Canada 🇨🇦.. Justin needs Guard's.. The Coalition has paved the road too freedom.. 😊
We better not have to pay for those guards once he’s out, he should be using his own $130 million dollars he’s made by selling out the Canadian people the last 9 years. Yes that’s right, he’s made a net worth of $121 million dollars as PM the last 9 years, even though the P.M. salary is only $400k per year. 🤔 the math ain’t mathin’.
our whole family likes Pierre Poilievre and will definitely be voting for him,
Easy answer. You cant make the changes in 8 years till you make the changes.
Just to say this was a wonderful program of balancing politics in a discussion
Excellent book, very interesting and informative , a great read.
This woman seems very out of touch. She still thinks people want less social constraints and she could not be more wrong. Everyone I speaks to is sick to death of all of the debauchery going on right now.
What a great talk !!
So nice to see you in this arena again Mz. Wallen. I just found your podcast and was very pleased by this interview and the questions asked. I am quite unsure about Mr. Pollievre and this interview helped me clear some of the fog around him. I look forward to more great interviews.
I spent half a lifetime in the military. I didn't feel it necessary to step out from the military into the "real world".
A mistaken one in my opinion. 😉
Nice to see you Pamela
I think you have to wonder why are we now seeing the likes of Pamela Wallin and Paul Wells spending all this time with Andrew Lawton.
My spidy senses are tingling.
An interview I would expect from you. Thank you so very much.
We need Pierre right now . 👏👏👏
"Progressive Conservative" was always an oxymoron. It just means cowardly Red Tory/liberal.
Really! No nonsense? Former CBC reporter turned Liberal senator. No thanks!
..PP4PM..
Ezra Levant wrote a book about Trudeau. Have you read it?
You have to risk being offensive to think
How many billions in foreign money?😊i AN BALANCE. the budget in 15 seconds. Zero dollars to foreign countries.
Such a great interview ❤
21:55 he did talk about where his focus on environmental issues was. He talked a lot about carbon capture. Also, who cares? I think climate crap is a luxury issue, no one really cares about that right now unless the person is totally steeped in the Climate cult. Maybe he should invest money into the scientists that have been largely ignored who say there is no climate emergency and actually explain how this has been completely blown out of proportion.
Politics is no substitute for life.
Did Poilievre ever refund the money from the Senate expense scandal? Oh wait, it was Wallin, not PP. She must have forgotten.
Pamela Wallin's picture is all blurry. No botox today?
What about your expense account overage (Duffy too)?
This hurt because we have the same last name!
Maintenance is very important to her and extremely expensive in my opinion 😉
Looking gorgeous!
Interesting 😮
Wait! Lawton wrote a book on Pollievre, and admits he never even interviewed him...???!!
