This song was her comeback hit and her first hit as a solo artist. She left Ike ten years before and the music industry wouldn't touch her because she was too old and considered a "has been". But Tina didn't give up and didn't stop. She took every gig she could get and even languished in Vegas for a few years before blowing the doors off the music industry. This song became a #1 worldwide hit and started the second half of her career when he was 45. And the second half of her career (as a solo artist) FAR eclipsed the first half with Ike. She became HUGE in the 80s and 90s. HBO has a great documentary that came out last year called TINA that tell her whole story and serves as her farewell to her fans, definitely worth watching. She's in her 80s now and not in the greatest of health but she is LIVING LEGEND with so many great songs to explore from the early 60s to 00's. Wave that TINA flag, y'all...she is a bonafide survivor, thriver and ICON.

100% on the money. And remember her hair is always a,wig because of an accident at a hairdresser when she was still on tour with One. I went to see her live when she went on the What's Love tour in 1993. There were these twenty year old guys behind us screaming "Tina!! Let us be your love slaves!"

I met her once at a grocery store. We were just shopping and I said hello. She said hi and if I remember correctly we were both in the spice isle so, we ended up talking about what we were going to make for dinner. We had a couple of good laughs on using such spices on the wrong foods etc. She is one of the nicest human beings you’ll ever meet and I mean this even without her celebrity status. She just makes the world a better place.

This is the iconic rebirth of Tina Turner who was already iconic. She was free from Ike Turner and she owned her name, her music. She shot ALL of her naysayers down who said that she was done and that they didn't want to do anything new with her. On top of that she was a consummate performer that slayed people more than half her age on stage. I love Tina Turner. I was so happy to see her as a black woman on MTV with countless hits for me as a black girl absolutely needing that representation.

Tina Turner launched one of the greatest comebacks in music history. This started in 1983 when she teamed up with 'Heaven 17' to sing 'Let's Stay Together' (Al Green Song). She then basically ruled the 80s and 90s.

Tina Turner was her own woman. These comeback songs were absolute smash hits in the mid 80’s. This woman was on top of the world and was the face of Rock and Roll (See Rolling Stone) not only for her music but for her being and her style. On a personal note, my mother was abused by my step father when I was a child including broken hip, nose etc…later, as a young man, I took her to the Uptown Theater to see the legendary Angela Basset performance in the ‘93 film about Tina and for us this was so cathartic the words are unsayable really. Tina Turner is not only a survivor but so vivacious in her music, in her take on life, taking the world by the horns- and so wonderful for you two to get to know her work better. Legend.

And she looked hardly any different in her final concerts at the age of 70 - and made her 20-something backup dancer look shabby in comparison. Looks like her concert exercise has kept he in great shape - never mind having the luck of great genes!
Favorite story about her - a friend talked he into going with her to a pilates class. 2 hours later, the instructor was wiped out, and Tine had hardly broken a sweat!

I came to this video the day after Tina's passing was announced. She had a long and stunning career, and worked her butt off for it. The thing that sticks in my mind is the reputation she had for treating her band and crew like family. That's a trademark of the best lead performers. She may be gone, but she left a legacy few can match.

Did you see her gorgeous legs? Along with her impressive vocals, lively dance moves, and iconic hair, Tina Turner's legs have become one of her signature features. Often flaunting them in sparkly mini dresses on stage, the star's pins were insured for $3.2 million and she even dedicated a song to them in 1994.

This comes from the Private Dancer album, which in my opinion is one of the best albums by a female period..regardless of the genre. This was her comeback album, there is not a bad song on this album. Better Be Good To Me, her remake of Al Green's Let's Stay together, her remake of David Bowie's 1884, and the title track (written by Dire Straits Mark Knopfler)
    are awesome.

Tina Turner is the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll". She has spanned over 6 decades of music. She started out with her husband Ike & had some great hits such as "It's Gonna Work Out Fine", "River Deep-Mountain High", "Proud Mary" & "Nutbush City Limits". But she had even bigger hits when she went solo such as "What's Love Got To Do With It", "Better Be Good To Me", "Private Dancer", "We Don't Need Another Hero (from Thunderdome)", "Typical Male", "The Best", "I Don't Wanna Fight", "GoldenEye" (James Bond movie) etc. Turner also released a duet with Bryan Adams "It's Only Love".

I was so proud of her! She is absolutely fantastic! I grew up watching her with Ike... She never hit her potential until she went solo.... And man did she show him!!! She is just one hell of a singer and entertainer... And a wonderful person.

According to the movie, What's Love Got to do With it, Tina went to get her hair done before a performance and it did not turn out as expected. She was afraid Ike would be mad. So she did something to it to jazz it up somehow. Ike was very pleased and thought she was a genius and thought it would be great for their image.

Nutbush City Limits, Proud Mary, We Don't Need Another Hero, Steamy Windows, The Best, Better Be Good To Me, I Can't Stand the Rain, Goldeneye, and River Deep Mountain High. And all of her live performances at Wimbley Stadium are off the hook!

Not withstanding she was 30 years older than me, and I was a scrawny nerdy white boy lol. But dayam she has a sexy class to her !! Those legs are legendary !!!

The beautiful part is watching you guys react to this, close to 40 years after I caught it for the first time on late-night TV… and damned if Tina doesn’t rattle my cage EVERY bit as hard now as then. What’s even more amazing is that she’s often said she never cared much for the song itself, and yet she still gave it everything she had. A vocal performance for the ages. Oh yeah, and them LEGS.😍🎶😊

One of my biggest sheroes. Tina endured so much abuse and pain She reinvented herself in her 40's when the industry turned their nose at her. She persevered ,rose above it to become a much respected, strong icon that so many look up to. Deep dive she has so many amazing hits You Better Be Good To Me should be next. Long live the Queen 👑🙌

Thank you guys so much for doing a reaction to this incredible song. This was probably her biggest song of her solo career. It was released in 1984 and she had finally broke free from Ike and all his shenanigans. Also check out "It's Only Love" her duet with Bryan Adams. Phenomenal. Tina was always very special to me. I lost both of my parents back in 2018 (10 days apart from each other) and Tina Turner was my dad's all time favorite. He said she was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen. I miss em both every day. Thanks again, me fellow Okies. Love you guys!
