Tatum stacked team worse stats across the board. And so are AD, Kawhi and Jrue Holiday. Kawhi also with a Finals MVP. On top of that, we may have new champions now, if Boston wins for example, Tatum would be a champion.
@12gark In reality, it probably goes Beon/Steph and KD's way. They may be older than the other trio when they played the 92 Olympics but Nick was right, Magic had retired, still great, but at the end. Bird could barely walk, let alone play. The only thing was Mj was in his prime. Tbh, the trio for the 92 dream team was Mj/Charles and Scottie, that would be a better and tougher comparison
Yeah remember when Nick didn’t want Jokic to win back to back MVP because that’s only reserved for the greats. Then Jokic when to become exactly that… a great
I really don't think we can call Jokic a great bro.. who has he beat? No Admiral, no Yao, no Shaq, no Duckworth, no Ewing, no Arvydis Sabonis.. he doesn't even play against any Dirks or Garnetts or Kemps or chucks, etc.. His only real competition has been Embiied and Nurkic... and Embiid usually beats him. Not a great yo
@@jdfraed123that’s absurd, we’ve seen jokic perform at all time great levels against historically great big men, AD and giannis are all-time defenders and they can’t guard him
@@jdfraed123 off topic abit, but love your mention of Sabonis, sadly people will not understand as in NBA he was already past prime and without legs and not that hard to beat. Tho I think Sabonis at his peak was better than Jokic is at his, as Sabonis can do literally everything what Jokic now does + highflyer. Saying that, I for sure think that Jokic IS all time great, as he can do everything and beat opponents in alot of ways, not 1 dimensional like SHAQ for example (not shitting on SHAQ, 1 dimensional but hardy anyone stopped him).
how dare you deminah the good year kyrie and luka both had by saying luka overcame "kyire's drama" wtf are you talking about colin?? They both love playiing together and they're winning!
All the nonsense Nick just said about the Dream Team and yet that team beat opponents by a record margin and no other Olympic teams since have been as dominant
To be fair, that's largely because there are a lot of REALLY good European players in the league now, like Luka and Joker, which make the European teams a lot more competitive than they were in 1992. But I agree that the Dream Team is GOATed.
Euro ball now is 1000x better now than it was back then. The dream team inspired a lot of people in Europe and you can see that influence now in the current NBA. Back then the US were basically the only nation that played basketball seriously, the only other nation would be the Soviet Union but they were at War and imploding at the time. So saying the Dream team blew teams out more than modern Team USA doesn't really say anything
Kyrie hasnt caused any drama in Dallas, hes been a great leader. Give credit to Kyrie for that. I also think Luka is mvp but "overcoming Kyrie's drama" is a stupid argument
jokic should won this year, but embiid winning last year is an evidence that it can be participation trophy lmao. I wish jokic won't get robbed another mvp he deserves.
The Dream Team would destroy the 2024 team. Dream Team 2 would also destroy the 2024 team. This 2024 team will struggle to win the gold. And KD will most Likely have to save them again. The team is to small and lacks physicality.
Jokic and The Warriors completely exposed Nick’s lack of basketball knowledge the last 2 years. If the Nuggets go back to back he might have to go into hiding.
@@nategarner4508 call it what you want but he was wrong. They won and he predicted they wouldn't. They beat the celtics who supposedly had a historically great offence. And he himself said he was obviously wrong
Jokic does not deserved 3rd MVP. 25ppg and 12rpg are just his career averages, nothing stellar. Is he at par with Bird or Magic that warrants 3rd MVP? Is he better than Duncan? If he wins his 2nd championship then give it to him next season.
it’s like sometimes they don’t hear themselves talk sometimes. he also said dream team vs this years olympics team “steph and lebron aside” who would win? like what..?
Jokić was fifth in total points, third in total rebounds, second in total assists, and eighth in total steals. I agree with both of these guys, on most topics, most of the time. I'm also a huge fan of both old-school NBA as well as the current NBA. With that said, the 92 Dream Team would cook the current team.
A lot of the guys for that dream team would be considered huge letdowns these days. Malone,Stockton, Barkley, obviously laetener. Mullins was just good, pippen was a #2 option at best, and at the time bird was still good but clearly a shell of his old self. The dream team guarding these guys 30 feet from the basket would be hilarious
Lukas finally getting MVP recognition but way too late in the season. Instead people were saying Giannis could be MVP when he’s not even having an MVP typa season
Luka and Joker both deserve the MVP this year. I would choose Joker, he's the more Valuable Player imo. But I would be happy if Luka won it. He had an amazing year.
But where is statistics that says Jokic is in top 4 statistical category, top 10 players, only in history. Where is advanced stats that says Jokic is the most efficient player? Where is PER. With u guys it's always cracked narative. When Jokic was No6, hw played with Campazo, Burton, Morris...Get real!
If anyone wants an interesting read, please hear me out below: The NBA seriously need to look at the bias from the MVP voting committee. I am seeing a disproportionate amount of votes for Jokic. There is another agenda going on that's not to do with basketball. Which is not only unfair to Luka but Jokic , SGA, and all the other candidates. Im seeing voters like Bill Simmons getting votes, the same person who partners will gambling sites like Fam Duel on their podcast. ESPN members get a significantly larger proportion of voting power, which is interesting when you look at ESPN recent venture into the gambling industry. The objectivity of these voters should be called into question. The odds being so in favour of Jokic is also telling. -5000 Jokic and 20/1 Luka. Vegas knows something we don't. As most basketball fan and mock polls suggest it should be a lot closer race. Oddschecker suggests a relatively even amount of money has been placed on the both of them. So how come Jokic is such a favourite... In December straw poll when Embid was front running favourite he was averaging less in pts, rb and ast than Luka is now - at 50 win pace, which Luka managed to achieve. So how come Luka was never the front runner. All of this information anyone can find on X, you can even find the voters names, which is also wrong. For all we know they are being bribed , colluding together to try and get the winner they or someone else wants. The house always wins as they say. It's clear who the fans MVP is it's Luka, my votes Luka by a mile, not just because of his performance but because I cannot stand corruption/ bias in sports. I would not be surprised if this is happening in the NBA, just look at FIFA - this Jokic, Luka situation reminds me of the Messi/ Harland balonD'or in 2023. Messi is the goat but it's almost felt as if Haaland could not have done more that year. Again both deserved to win and the odds, albeit in Messi favour were a lot closer. I feel sorry for Jokic as he does not deserve to be dragged down by all the controversy, he is an all time great but may look less legitimate due to the poor way in which the award is given. I am an NBA fan and do not have the time, platform or resources to deep dive into this the way I believe should be . But the NBA has to do better, MVP needs to be legitimately defined, it affects the history books and peoples trust in the organisation.
It isn't a heated MVP Race. It's off the board almost everywhere. Jokic is 70 to 1 on Fanduel. And 100 to 1 on other sites....But that won't stop the media from trying to rob him again
LUKA is MVP. Period. He has been playing through injuries himself, showing up for games when team members are out for a month, sometimes two months, 73 and 50 pts nights, record number of triple doubles. JOKIC has won two. There is not much separation individually between him and Luka. Luka deserves it more this year.
Nah, Joker leads in virtually every advanced stat that measures value: VOPR, Box +/-, PER, win shares, on/off and like 6 others. He means MORE to his team than any other player, which is the definition of most valuable, and he single-handedly carries Denver to be the best team in the league. It literally doesn't get any more MVP than that. Luka is having an amazing year that would be MVP worthy in most other years, but not this one.
@rmr9345 LOL, okay, I got it now; you're a Mavs fan with a strong bias. No point in further discussion as reason has left the building. Well, I hope if the Nuggets don't win it that your Mavs do... just don't count on it.

Lebron overcoming Kyrie in Cleveland did not get him an MVP and he won a title/was a better player than Luka. If that’s what pushes the MVP award in Luka’s favor that would be completely ridiculous.
Ummm…Luka already surpassed bron in offensive skills. Not sure how you think bron is the better player. By every statistical measure, Lukas last two years were better than any single season of bron. And he did it during a time when the west was loaded. We haven’t seen a west this loaded since Kobes era.
@@stackonez7182 prime bron was only better at two things than Luka : 1) lowering his head and being a freight train to the hoop and 2) freak athleticism/dunking. Luka is the better shooter (midrange, 3pt, and FT), has a better handle, has better footwork, better post game, better at improvising and making difficult shots, and is an equally good passer. Just pull up highlights of each player. 99% of brons highlights are amazing feats of athleticism (crazy dunks and finishes). Luka’s ability to get a shot off and make that shot is on another level.

People seem to forget that the dream team was facing FAR WORSE international talent too. I'm pretty certain they faced 5 players who were in the NBA at that time. 2-3 of them were literally names you have never heard. The dream team was dominant....but the level of opposition was GARBAGE
I like Jokic, but to give him 3rd MVP having 25ppg and 12rpg with his career averages. It is nothing stellar. Is he better than Bird or Magic? Is he better than Duncan? Is he really better than Shaq or Kobe? If yes give him his 3rd MVP. Only player that really stood up is Luka 35ppg 10rpg and 10apg. He unlocking Kyrie potential and keeping him happy should be MVP.

Love your take Nick!!!!! From one Nick to another keep preaching maaan, people aren't giving Luka enough credit...catch and shoot 3s 40 percent clip ✔️, having one of his best passing seasons with almost 10 assists a game, better than Jokic by hair, ✔️ improving his steals, and blocks, one game he had 4 blocks and 4 steals...smarter defender, ✔️ lastly Dallas WERE 28th in PACE last year, this year they are 8th double ✔️✅....I mean the dude went NUCLEAR in every facet of the game and still no MVP!!! Best Player on Best Team= MVP Prove me wrong people go head???
Ill admit Luka has had an amazing season, and I do think he deserves MVP...but Jokic deserves it more imo. Hes still the best player in the league and is tied for the 1 seed. Also, on all 3 of Jokic's MVPs, Nick has been a staunch critic. He initially said Jokic was the worst MVP in 40 years. Then he said he didn't deserve back to back and that it would make the award irrelevant. Then, Jokic had an incredibly dominant Finals run and Nick was silent. NOW im supposed to care about his opinion of Jokic??
‘Statistically all 3 are great’ is such an oversimplification. By raw stats luka is markedly better, and by advanced stats jokic is significantly better. Their baselines are all great true but the differences matter in such a tight race. SGA should be unanimous 3rd as he has unquestionably the worst individual stat (when you considerbbox score and advanced stats collectively) and does not have the best team record (tied with denver) and he’s overcome the least amount of team injury.
Luka hasn't had to " overcome Kyrie's drama". That's a stupid take. Kyrie has been great in Dallas and enjoys playing there. Luka had a great year statistically and has an MVP argument to make. Jokic will probably win though.
It depends entirely on the rules. Hand check or no hand check? Offensive goal tending above the cylinder? 1992 team has better defenders and more size. 2024 team has better shooters. I'd take the 92 team mainly because MJ and Pippen wreak havoc on D, Magic is too big and strong at the point, and Barkley, Malone, Robinson and Ewing would dominate Embiid, Bam, and AD in the paint. Plus you don't need to go 12 deep. Only 7 or 8 would get serious minutes.
Everyone sleeping on SGA only one of these 3 that is a true 2 way player. 2nd in the league in ppg, 1st in steals. Doesn’t get nearly as many calls as other stars in the league. Hopefully he shows it in the playoffs.

He still doesn't want him to be MVP or consider him the best. He went with Giannis this season too, he just switched to his neglected Adult Slovenian Son because Giannis clearly wasn't winning it.

@@garyco766 1 nobody should be using all the advanced stats because I guarantee if I asked you to name everything that goes into the algorithm for each of those stats you’d have to look it up 2 jokic on off numbers don’t impress me because the reason is less to do with him and more to do with the fact that Denver doesn’t have a backup center. Yes they have 37 year old deandre Jordan who played 36 games but you don’t get to credit a bad backup to jokic being that good. If any other team has no backup they’ll have great on off numbers too. Nikola Jokić had another incredible, utterly historic NBA season. He led the Nuggets to a top-two seed in the Western Conference for the second straight year and helped the franchise tie their single-season win record with 57 victories. Nikola's got as deserving of a case for his third MVP as you're going to see, which would put him in an illustrious class. Only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Moses Malone have won three or more regular season MVPs. Here's an overview of some of the many, many statistical milestones and achievements Jokić pulled off this season. Jokić was fifth in total points, third in total rebounds, second in total assists, and eighth in total steals. He’s the only player in NBA history to be top-10 in all four categories in a single season. Nikola was the only player in the NBA that was top-15 in average points (twelfth), assists (fourth), and rebounds (fourth) this season. Jokić led the entire league in on/off offensive efficiency with plus-18.9 points per 100 possessions. He was first in total plus-minus at plus-682. Jokić recorded the second-most double-doubles in the league with 68 and the second-most triple-doubles with 25. Nikola had 21 games of 25-point triple-doubles, which led the league. On March 11th against the Toronto Raptors, he became the first player to ever drop 35 points, 17 rebounds, 12 assists, and 6 steals in a game. On February 25th against the Golden State Warriors, he became the first player to ever tally 32 points, 16 rebounds, 16 assists, and 4 steals in a game. He had the second-longest streak of 20-point and 10-rebound games with 12 consecutive from October 24th to November 17th. You could make a case that Jokić had the most efficient three-game run since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976. From December 28th to January 1st, Jokić missed just two total shots in three games. This wound up being the highest field goal percentage in NBA history (92.9 percent) with at least 25 total shots in three games.

Then Jokic when to become exactly that… a great
Everybody who knows a little basketball Knows "nicko the Clown" is mostly Wrong

If anyone wants an interesting read, please hear me out below:
The NBA seriously need to look at the bias from the MVP voting committee.
The narrative about Kyrie is crazy. What drama? The media creates the drama

Jokić was the only player in the league that averaged at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. He's the sixth player to ever put up these numbers.
Nikola was second in total at-rim assists and total two-point assists.
He was first in total steals by a center.
Jokić was fifth in total deflections in the NBA.
He was second in the NBA in non-restricted painted area field goal percentage at 61.7 percent (minimum 100 attempts). This is typically where players take floaters and hook shots from.
He finished second in total points in the painted area.
Jokić was first in post-up points and assists.
He also led the league in total points and total assists from the elbows.
