Bei uns auf den Dörfern gibt es auch viel. Meine letzten Rettungen waren von Deutschland 😞 Hier unter meinem Tisch liegt eine Hündin, die erschossen werden sollte.
Th se dogs are made to go crazy by being kept a prisoner and abused! People who do this are monsters. Poor darling he will take a lot of time to be socialized. 😢

Das frage ich mich auch so oft. Es ist nichts dort, was sie bewachen könnten. Ginge auch gar nicht an einer ein Meter kurzen Kette. Was ist die Motivation dieser Leute, sich einen Hund anzuschaffen? Welchen "Nutzen" haben sie davon? Ich verstehe es einfach nicht 🤬

Thorough education and severe punishment based on strict laws against animal abuse, are the only things that can stop this. Thank you Takis, you're my hero.

There is no simple solution to this, it is a deeply ingrained cultural malaise it would take a concentrated effort on many levels over generations to change attitudes, the political and cultural institutions will not expend the required effort to achieve the desired result. Severe punishment will just drive it out of sight and the rescue of such animals will cease as they are killed instead of abandoned.

Sadly, if this ‘kennel’ is to be revisited in a few months, it is pretty much guaranteed that another dog will be suffering the same fate. I know….I have rescued and experienced this situation. It is so sad.

A high percentage of people over there think of dogs as an object to use and neglect. There are no followed laws for animal abuse, The authorities must make mandatory prison sentences for these people.

Yes, but.... who will rehabilitate, socialize and adopt all those dogs? The spay-neuter law is not being enforced, the German vet volunteer who did free spay-neuters for 10 years lost his work space and is now sharing space with a local vet... So the recent changes made will lead to more unwanted puppies in rubbish bins, more unchained dogs needing rehabilitation, all private animal shelters on Crete full but still accepting animals, municipal shelters refusing or accepting? I agree with you, but more needs to be done ASAP to stop the backyard and chicken coop puppy mills. 😢
@@cs5414 It certainly is a large scale problem but if there were enough people who cared on Crete to volunteer to look for these dogs, then I’m sure there would be those amongst the volunteers willing to adopt. Even if just a few dogs were found this way then it’s a positive.

Poor dog, terrified to even move - another one abused by humans, so scared. It’s a sad world we live in & thank heavens for a man like Takis who really cares about animals. I took on a shelter dog last year from Spain so I can’t adopt another but I do donate to the shelter. If you can please support Takis in anyway you can.❤❤❤

Dear Takis: LAWs should be in place AGAINST KEEPING ANIMALS CONFINED IN SMALL SPACES and/or ON A miserable CHAIN 24/7 almost always w/little to no food or water kind human interaction or adequate shelter! OUTRAGEOUS! The suffering so many poor animals endure at the hands of cruel ignorant owners who torture their animals in such a way. I shudder to think how many poor animals lived and died from in agony on a chain !
