Gotta say… Joey McGuire is making a believer out of me! I saw some inspired defense in that game. At least two 4th down stops against the top SEC rushing offense and forcing at least three turnovers. Offense looked very good. It’s exciting to see the program improve so much during one season with McGuire. I’ll bet that he delivers a pretty good recruiting class also.
It just feels like a differenr team. Even when the offense sputters a bit sometimes, you don't see them totally quit trying like they used to under Kingsbury and especially Matt Wells. They fight tooth and nail til the end now
As funny as it may be to say, it is "The Brand", he has the players buying into it and living it every day. It is an essential part of human nature, give people something to believe in and rally behind. If you look at most of our stats, we should not be 7-5 or even in that bowl, but the way they play for 60 minutes, they eventually make the needed play, well, more often than not. We couldn't make enough plays against NCSU, KSU, OSU, or TCU, but you get the point.
It was interesting to hear the 2 D players reference "The Program", the offseason workouts led by ex military guys that built a mental toughness. Joey McGuire understands how to foster unity and lead young men to achieve great things.
Tech was undefeated with this QB this season. This dub didn't surprise me

Yes, if struggling Jawhawks could almost lay an egg on Arkansas, the much denigrated BIG12 deserves an appology. It's really sad how many schools have deserted the conference only to find lack of fame elesewhere.
It's funny because people were saying the sec is just Alabama. Now they're saying it's Alabama and Georgia. How quickly you all forget that auburn, Florida and lsu have all won titles in the last 2 to 15 years. The sec is definitely not like any other power 5 conference

I seriously doubt Ole miss would beat Iowa State or West Virginia. They would legit be one of the joke teams in the conference 😂. Yet they can scrape by 8 wins with that easy SEC schedule.
They won 4 games in that SEC schedule. The other 4 wins were out-of-conference.

Yeah that game stung, especially since Texas Tech is a team I really enjoy watching. Watching them kill one of the best ASU teams we have had hurt a lot.

I watched this whole game and the Ol miss Quarterback got all he could handle of the Texas Tech defense.
Unpopular opinion but the Big 12 is the tougher more balanced conference compared to the SEC.
I’m a Longhorn fan and I agree. Texas will benefit leaving the round Robin schedule. The Big 12 schedule is pretty much the conference eating themselves alive. The conference did a bad job selling the round Robin s.o.s. to the playoff committee and it hurt the big 12 tbh. The Big 12 will be better off without the current scheduling format. A lot of strong Big 12 teams will make stronger cases for the playoff, if not a serious contender for top bowls

Last year, outside of Bama & UGA, the SEC was 2-7 in bowl games. So far this year, in the regular season and bowl games so far, the SEC is 8-9 against other P5 programs and 5-7 against P5 teams with a winning record.

Dart is terrible and lane can’t win with him. He’s not a football god but he’s a legitimately good head coach who’s offense stalls out under dart. I think the late season rumors about lane leaving really hurt this team. They were playing really well until stories about lane leaving started to come out

Dart was a turnover machine at USC also. Threw 7 touchdowns and turned it over 6 times last year.
looking back, dart was exposed after drake london got injured at usc. his int's went way up as he couldn't go through his reads as london was always his safety valve.

It was hilarious. The hype was that Ol' Miss was going to run all over Tech. And the announcer started the game saying, _"Ol' Miss has one of the best running games _*_you are going to witness."_* And it was a dud. Tech all but shut it down.

@King Kid I don't know, Kiffin is 84-47 all time in college as a HC with only 1 losing season, so he can obviously win. Looking at his history, he has a track record of a good season followed by a bad or mediocre season, then a good season again. He hasn't figured out how to maintain success.

@@kingkid8906 That is a fair question and the FAU Owls won 2 CUSA conference championships games with him as a HC. That is not a Big 12 or SEC level, but it still counts as winning the big game when it mattered.
However, I do agree with you that he will not lead a P5 program to a championship, but he has proved he is more than an OC, he is just not a top level HC.

Ole Miss had a 4th down , their line of scrimmage was their own 48 yard line the defender caught it at their 22 yard line. His interception cost his teams offense 30 yards of filed position.
