Great idea to interview and show viewers own vehicles. How they got into classic cars. Brilliant idea

Thanks, it's always fun to chat with owners at the meets we get to so hopefully that side of things will grow on the channel.

Hi Rick, what you describe all sounds very interesting, and a very good idea. I agree, talking to the owners of classic cars is much better than just having a quick drive of it. A live stream sounds good too - I'm sure people have plenty of questions for you and Harley - we are a nosey bunch ! Everything you and Harley put out for us is always interesting, and much appreciated, so have no fear, your followers will still be here and backing you all the way. Thanks Rick and Harley - take care 🙂

We appreciate all the video's that you and Harley put out. Talking to other owners of classics is a great idea.

+1 for liking the idea of speaking to owners. When I go to shows I like to chat to other owners when they are with their cars. It brings the vehicles to life. I think I Drive a Classic's videos where she speaks to owners are some of her best.

The idea of talking to other classic car owners is a good one. On occasion, you or Harley have done so and it's great to hear the personal stories the owners have to tell. It's a highlight for me. I have no problem with any change you are proposing Good wishes.

What you put out on your channel is always enjoyable. I have always had an interest in cars going way back to my childhood , many , many , many years ago. 😅 Keep it up.

I like the idea of reviewing individual cars that local people own. Their stories, why they love them, that sort of thing would be good. Perhaps viewers could write in and request a particular vehicle to be reviewed. Another viewer who owns one might make it available for you to have a look at. That sort of thing. All in all, Richard, I find these changes very promising and I’m looking forward to viewing again this year.

The additions to the channel will certainly be of interest, especially the back stories the owners have about their classics.
Highlighting those one-man operations refurbishing classic parts etc will be particularly helpful for sourcing hard-to-find parts.
Onwards and upwards Rick. and thanks for the vlogs.

Love to hear from other owners of classic vehicle owners, as well as seeing their vehicles up close.👍

Mixing it up a bit in the way you described sounds just the job. Live streams would be great too. Looking forward to it all.

Thanks for the video. I watch several car and other "old stuff" related sites and it seems many who used to do a few videos a week are backing off to something less intensive. I understand what time pressures the whole YT experience can be on someone.
As for ideas, I like the visits to museums and to others involved in the old car business like the Alvis barn find and parts guy. I'm not a fan of live feeds as the comment sections have to be constantly monitored for trolls, although they do provide for community members to meet each other and communicate in real time with you. Your call of course. I would like to see some activity on the A40 as that model is appealing to me. I realize that activity is weather dependent as well as financial in nature so I leave that to you. I like the car owner interviews that focus on their car's history and their story of how and why they have it. And lastly, show us all the car related stuff you have collected spread throughout the house and property with some history and background on them. Thanks for what you and Harley do!

Plans sound good for 2025. I do like the idea of you featuring individuals cars and the stories behind them. I think people do like the individual history of cars and the work and commitment invested to reach the point they are at and able to show their cars.

Like the idea of showing other folks’ cars. Not 100% sure about live-streaming though. Best to show how you (and others) fix the old cars to keep them on the road. Whatever you produce I be watching it here Stateside 😊

I think that’s a great plan, I’m amazed how you put the output you do (I’m probably not the only person who feels slightly guilty I fall behind watching). The diversity will work well for you 👍

I love the idea of a feature vehicle. Also, a live stream would be great. The only trouble is it means setting the alarm for early in the morning as we have a 10 - 11 hour time difference in Australia (depending on the time of year).

Hello Richard, I am a channel member and have subscribed for over 5 years. Thank you for the update, and the pleasure of seeing the joy of classic cars being lived out in you and Harley. I agree that video of you driving a car belonging to someone else has a limited appeal, rather like watching someone enjoying a great meal. The audience are not getting those flavours and satisfaction from vicariously witnessing someone else having the enjoyment. Hearing from the owner gives much more enjoyment and insight plus gives inspiration to own one of those models at some point.
My preference is for mild tinkering videos personally, it always amazes me what your garage contains. If there is a requirement for an offset flange ratcheted ring spanner 3/4 inch Whitworth reverse thread you seem to have one!
I'm also surprised that your channel subscriptions are not higher, perhaps too many people are dreamers who ogle Ferraris and 0-60 times giving content providers 200k+ subscribers? Both of those things are to me of no interest at all.
Thank you for what is a true enthusiast channel and thank you for presenting it in a friendly and inviting way. It is also lovely to see Harley developing into a fine, well spoken smartly turned out young man, following your enthusiasm for the history of motor vehicles.
Onwards and upwards, (but don't change too much? )
    Best wishes Richard Batty

Thanks for the feedback. Not having a journalistic background I doubt that I could give car reviews the depth that they would deserve anyway, others with the appropriate skills can do that so I don't see much point me trying that particular angle. Bending the ears of owners to talk themselves about their firsthand experiences, as I/we do at shows from time to time, I think that'd work. Thanks for supporting the channel! Cars full stop are a niche subject for RUclips, old cars are small sub-section of that, so I never see the channel being super-big, but as long as numbers continue to creep upwards then I'm happy enough.

I subscribe to two channels where the 'host' drives peoples cars. They both do things a little differently to one another but only one does interviews with owners once in a while. I think the idea of you chatting to owners and their interests would be great. I do know that not everyone likes a camera 'in their face' but I think if they are willing to talk 'face to face' that would be nice rather than just a disjointed voice. I would suggest keeping it in a casual chat form (as you do now) might put people at ease rather than a sit down set of questions, some people can 'freeze' in that setting. On the technical side you might need to purchase an additional microphone (Bluetooth?) but they are reasonably cheap to buy but don't go for a 'cheap as chips' model as they are more trouble than they are worth. I do like the idea of 'mixing things up' a bit and I am sure people will not mind if the midweek video does not appear or is on a different day at this time of year. Personally I don't really like live chat videos but I am just one person so if the consensus is to do one then fine I can choose to either watch it or not. Finally it is your channel and I support any changes you wish to make Rick so good luck with the coming year of 2025. 👍👍

Great ideas! I'd really like to see a special on Austin 7s and especially the design and construction of Austin 7 Specials. I own 2 specials. One is a relatively well known one in Australia called a Flemming Special and the other is a basket case I recently found up in Queensland. I live stream on say the up and coming car shows in the UK would be interesting. I'm thinking of coming over for a visit to the UK to see some these shows. Cheers guys great job!

I would definitely like to see you chatting with some of the owners of the classic vehicles, and you going to visit some of the businesses that help to keep them on the road.
When we meet next, I have a couple of other ideas for you too.

Sounds good to me. There must be a lot of people who would like nothing better than for you to have a look at their collections. Wish I had something to offer you myself but sadly not. Truth is, we'll probably watch anything you put out but we wouldn't want YOU to get bored! But don't stop doing the shows and museums. More museums should invite you for a private showing because it must be great publicity and some smaller ones are not well known., All the best for 2025.

A question Richard. The blue Volvo 164 that was parked in the scene where the old red Volvo was , did you own that Volvo ? I'm thinking Harley mentioned in one of his videos that you owned a Volvo years ago.

    • @oldclassiccarUK
      @oldclassiccarUK  10 часов назад

Yes we owned that a while back but I never really gelled with it, which was a shame as on paper it was my ideal cruiser. There are a few videos about it (a 164e) in the darker corners of the channel. Previously I've owned 120s and PVs.

@oldclassiccarUK I have always liked the Volvo 164 e. The front styling with the position of the headlights with the grill made it very classy looking . I also liked the 264 GL model. Same car design but with the big headlights in the front .

Diversifying from the areas that have made your channel popular, with a certain group of subscribers, is always a dangerous step. There are loads of car channels on YT but I only tend to regularly watch about five because their USP hasn't changed. One of the reasons I watch your videos is because the pace is unhurried and you spend time to occasionally focus on the insignificant items of old vehicle memorabilia that other car channels will ignore. Your other USP is that you are keen to concentrate on pre-1950s vehicles which are not popular with other channels, so keeping that is important. This is relevant to the tinkering aspects of your videos because fixing a pre-50s vehicle is so much different to post-80s "classics" which are the food stuff of many other car channels. On the subject of meeting up with other owners and discussing their cars I sense this could be quite boring and better suited to a radio podcast than a video channel and it's something you could always do more of when you go to car events anyway. Hope this helps.
