Ahh the memories. I remember when they were starting to promote this album, me and my boy went to all the shows in NY that we could. Also, I remember carrying Matt on my shoulders at Crazy Donkey when he stage dived. Good old days.

4:00, right at the end, "dun-dun-dun dun-dun-dun D...", pretty sure those are quarter-note triplets, but otherwise...nope - more 4x4s in here than a Jeep dealership. I guess you could count/group the "fast-paced world" riff at 0:44 as 3+3+4+2+2+2 16th notes - even if the groups of 3 are not "real" triplets it's hard to dispute the next-level awesomeness and face-melting ability of that riff...and the whole song really 😎🤘

@@tfwnoyanderetotally agree on 0:44, clearly all 16ths, but the second last bar of the song is 6 evenly spaced notes over 4 beats = 2 slow triplets, I've always counted that bit as ||:1e+a 2e+a 3 + ----:||trip-let-and trip-let-and|END (on a D that lasts forever)|| (that's my first and last attempt at notating rhythm in a comment :) )

They didn't sell out, Matt had to take a break from screaming because of his voice gave up. He's doing that live again and I bet they're going to have more screaming on their next album.

Wasn't Matt only 19 here? His vocals sound great and mature considering he was still pretty young.
Yup. He wrote/recorded Ember to Inferno when he was just 17, pretty nuts.
But it caused him a damage of his throat. After Shogun (2008) he asked Matt Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) to teach him how to sing with gutural voice properly.

Song is AMAZING, love the parts before the chorus and the solos. pure gold. these guys will NEVER get old. and I think all of their music is great in one way or another.

One of the first of the metal bands i've been in to long time ago, and for me, this is their best album, aggressive, melodic and thrashy, one of the reasons why Trivium will always have a special part in my heart even I'm more of a Black Metal and Death Metal person now. Top 5 songs of any band I've ever experienced live. Mayhem Fest 2009. Bodies were raining over the guardrails through all the moshing hahaha. One of the only songs that's ever tested the integrity of those guardrails. EDIT: Paolo also jumped into us in the crowd while playing lmao.
