I actually agree, Sancho is being deployed as a winger that holds his position most of the time in united and despite him having exceptional dribbling and ball carrying, he doesn't create chances from out wide, Antony is more fitted to that role. He excels at carrying the ball from outside to inside and from defence to attack, he also plays better with people around him. He'd be much better if we gave him instructions to drift into the middle with the ball like a mix of an inverted winger and a mezzala.

Sancho in a midfield three makes no sense to me from a tactical perspective. Bernardo Silva is able to do it because he has industry and awareness that Sancho doesn’t have. Not sur how relevant this is but when I play FM I use him as an Advance midfielder with the support role from the wings. I then make Bruno as an attacking midfielder with the attack. With Rashford I make him as an inside forward from the left wing. He gets so much assist this way as he passed to those two along with the striker I use. It sort of reminds me of the days of David Beckham where the creative midfielder assists from the wings. I find that if I make him an inside forward he slows the pace of the game as he hasn't as good a beating the opposing defenders himself. He reminds me of Mesut Ozil after Alexis Sanchez left Arsenal; he can assist but cannot score himself.

With Ten Hag rebulding, cutting deadwood, getting rid of players that don't suit him and his system and being a no-nonsense type coach, I do not think Sancho will be able to rebuild himself at United. I think he will have to do a Edwin Van Der Sar and go to a smaller, europa league level club, play every week, have a coach that will put an arm around him and make him feel good and then try again at the top club.

I can see him working in the final third with the player in his half space United need to widen the variety of their chance creation methods. One way is by making cutbacks for the striker from the byline or taking ambitious shots from sharp angles. ten Hag's 2-3-5 or 3-2-5 in attack both look to outnumber the opposition defenders. This attacking 5 consists of the 3 forwards and either the 2 fullbacks or the CAM and CM in the half space Sancho could be the one making runs from the wide space to the byline and making the cross/cutback or he can watch for runs and slip through-balls in behind the defensive line for the player in the half space to chase and create a chance
