As soon as you get males with any animal type it's worth having a second pen just for them too fatten up in makes it easier too see what's what. The maps which now have multiple animal pens for each type work great with seasons.
You could have used the hand tool to check the grass growth in the sheep pen to see where growth was at. in theory if the grass was tall enough to mow then it would have been tall enough for the sheep to eat from it. its also potentially that there was not enough cuttable grass in that area on the first day that it did put all the grass it could in the area but the sheep ate all of it before midnight but then the next day there was a grass growth stage that then gave you enough grass to cut. I have found wool to only show up in spring. similar to seasons in 17 but no wool now in summer.

Put Chaff on the ground in the feed area,, this stops the animals spilling food so you do not need to clean the area,,, it also works with woodchips but chaff flattens out better
Unfortunately this method has a negative consequence and a lazy, bad idea. A percentage of all consumed food is classified as "overage". By covering the feed area the spillage is permanently lost and cannot be recovered. This means wasted income from cost, effort, or time. An efficient farmer does not need to do this because there are many methods such as elevators and positioning of animal enclosures that minimize impact.

Good to know I was wondering if they could die from normal end of life age, what I'm suspecting now is if the cow birth pattern is the same accros all animals because this video shows the same thing (no hint of a possible birth until 9+ months)

You've pointed out a few things in here that I never thought about. Always so informative. Thank you, Sir. So I have 150 cows and 50 pigs. The Yorkshires are about to start giving birth and still I have had no slurry spawn up in either the cow pasture or the pig pen. Solid manure is plentiful. Seems weird for an animal pen to only have solid manure. I will see what happens

Hey so I tried something. If you put down chaff where the feed trough is. It keeps the area at 100% cleanliness. The chaff flattens out and is easy to drive over. One more thing it didn't seem to wrought or disappear over my 12 day winter (seasons). This is probably old news. But I hope it helps someone. I did it to help keep my slot count down. Enjoy!
Love the video as always! Would have liked to see a bit more about weight and lifespan, just one breed would be fine. Also more on males and their role if any. I assumed they would grow to a larger max size to sell for meat, but could effect offspring rates or something too. 👍
I'm having much better results with cows. I'm getting over 20k liters of milk per day, with just 67 cows. Waiting for milk prices to peak in early spring the. Payout will be huge.
I'm not sure about age yet. I've heard they will live 8 years before they die of old age. I'm just watching their weights. When they stop gaining weight I'm going to sell.
Coming to your video very late. A year late to be extact. BUT, the reason why I'm looking now is cuz I'm only now going the seasons route in preparation for FS22, (which is expected to be here a WEEK LATE the rat bastards! If it weren't for covid..... yeah) So I'm trying to pull off a fresh crash course on seasons before my copy of FS22 arrives. And, as always, you educate like no other! Thank you for your time into this matter
I've watched both the sheep and cow videos, and in each the males are considered useless. But my thought is whether or not if a male cow is brought to maturity, would it possibly increase reproduction instead of milk or wool ect. as a product. It is just a thought, but one that should be explored as well.
If a player is concerned the grass is too short or is not available to be grazed by animals, test the ground with the MT9 tool. If its is not 100% grown, the grazing mod does not activate.
Hey Mr. SealyP, this is absolutely brilliant tutorial! Thank you for taking the time to put this up! I do have a question...the wool, while in the pellets will it rot if i let it stay for a period of time? I'm waiting for a great price before I sell them. Thank you, mate!
QUESTION: I AM RUNNING SEASONS ON MY FARM I HAVE SHEEP HOWEVER IT IS ON AN EXISTING FARM DOES THAT MEAN THE SHEEP HAVE COST THE AMOUNT THEY ARE ON BASE GAME OR SEASONS?
Do weight and age have anything to do with sale price? A 1300lb steer vs an older 1800lb bull...same price? or is it what breed you have, you are stuck with that price across all young to old. if so, how would a wore out milk cow be worth the same as a young 1
@@MrSealyp The price for sale (while fluctuating over time) is fixed to weight. So a newborn and a mature sheep should be different in price. If we removed the fluctuating sale price per weight, we would see a steady increase in value as the weight grew. The sheep will stop gaining weight at some point, and the question is at a certain point does the age of the sheep start effecting the price per weight? Moreover, are males just to fatten and sell? Would a 3 year old male be bigger than a 3 year old female? Or do they take more time because they get bigger? And does anyone know what sheep's lifespans are? ..

Im super late to the farm sim 19 scene. But even if you buy the animal and cant sell it for as much for that single animal, still net profit. You get additional animals and wool. Even with the ones that dont produce wool, you still make money on the animal by selling the offspring. The sheep dont work like beef cattle in game. Sadly.
@@MrSealyp thank you MrSealyp been trying to figure it out lol but thank you... Keep those videos coming loving everyone of them.. When will you be doing a video on Sussex farm..
Anthony, your talking about two different mods. The seasons water pump which is demonstrated here is designed to only fill the trough to 15% its a sort of emergency water source as the water is expensive from this source. The 'blue pumps' as you mention are water valve and pipe and the theory is that the water has been plumbed directly to the water area. That is part of a mod called Animal Pen Extension which is PC only due to it involving extra scripts. That mod will fill the water fully as that is how it was designed.
