I just can't understand the hate for Ghost from some people. At no point have they pretended to be something they are not, they came, played their music, did their thing, found their audience in people bored of the modern metal/rockscene and started to grow. Some people speak as if they have done something bad or wrong and some hate them for absolutely nothing, jealousy I presume.
I hear ya! Ghost are awesome and are far and away my favourite band. I think some people can't get over the imagery. They seem to think they should sound metal as fuck just because they look like they should stereotypically. Ghost are one of the most innovative and fresh sounding bands in well over a decade...maybe longer. Open your minds and expand your musical palet. If you have Ghost, then you have everything!

Overhype is the problem. Like anything that gets too big, it's really easy to get sick of something before you've even experienced it. It's like how many people outright refused to watch Breaking Bad, cos everyone else wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. With Ghost specifically, I think it's probably cos everything they do has been done before, and better, by bands who seem more... Sincere, maybe. And that'd be fine if it weren't for the fans talking about Ghost like they're the unquestionable saviours of music. I don't dislike them (I'd probably listen to them sometimes if the vocals were more to my tastes), but there's also definitely something kinda irritating about them, in a weirdly abstract kinda way.

I love Ghost, and I absolutely support him hiding his face. Ghost is Tobias' idea, but its not about him. And I appreciate it so much he understands that. The LORE of the band is so much fun and UNIQUE in the music industry now, having an actual face behind that could break the magic. Imagine if JK Rowling showef up in the Potters stories as a character herself? Would be weird. So I applaud how he understands this. Im sure that bcs of the lawsuit he just trying to connect the band to his name more, but its not about him getting fame.

I love Ghost, I still haven't heard a song from him that I didn't enjoy. I can honestly say that I love every single song, his voice is so beautiful and soothing to the ears, heart, and mind. I even love just to hear him talk
I think that Tobias does the interviews in this way because I once read that he was not interested in fame completely but he does very little because he tells him that he only wants to focus on his music. We know how it really looks in photos but if he does not want to be in cameras it is because he is not interested in fame or attention. and I think it's okay because he does not want to be one of those artists who forget how they started the truth, he would have preferred that he never revealed his identity now ghost lost that touch they had before

Saw these guys less than 2 weeks ago, and noticed this guy showing lots of respect to the bandmates during the show (Had seen videos prior to seeing the show and the show I saw was no different). Ex: during a guitar solo he will go over to the guitarist and clap his hands ( in a way that the crowd clearly understands that it's time to clap for the guitarist who is soloing). Loved their show and agree with your comment about him not wanting to be the centre of attention and likes to implicate the other bandmates as well. Also have to give credit to Ghost for being able to work things out with 8 band members because we all know for a fact that the more people you implicate in something, the harder it is to work things out properly and they manage to do it incredibly well.

I've been going to gigs since the late 1980s. I've seen way over 200 touring bands and I can safely say that Ghost have one of if not the best stage show and tightest musically. Toby is a real one off, the way he graces the stage and has this incredible voice that doesn't come through so well on record but is huge live. The way he cycles onto the stage half way through the set on a little bicycle all in white with the little boater hat, just makes me think of like Noel coward crossed with Alice Cooper or something. Thing is you can see all these influences, but he stirs them all together into something new and vibrant. It's a shame about what happened to the original band. It does sound like they struggled to make ends meet in the early days. Traditionally accessible melodic rock music and theocratic satanism have not been typical bedfellows. If you want to grow the cult into the mainstream there's no point grunting into the microphone and thrashing through down tuned power chords and shredding at 500 miles an hour. They are such and interesting mix of styles like a beautiful and unexpected tasting cocktail that I would glady raise in a glass to Toby for giving us this superb music. You also feel like there is a mystique and you're in a little clique that are into the band, and that's a clever atmosphere to create around a band. People's attitude towards Toby reminds me of the stick that Dave Brock of hawkwind gets. You know; the guys a fucking genius and has mostly picked great musicians to play in the band. They come and go, so much that you don't really know who's going to be playing in the band at any given gig. Could be Arthur Brown, Simon house, Steve Hill age, Tim Blake, but they always are musicians that understand what the band is all about and naturally fit into the Hawkwind family. To keep that idea alive and fresh for 50 years is one hell of an achievement, he never sold out and keep the integrity of the band for all that time. I hope that someone can say the same about Toby in 50 years time, but I'll be dead and gone by then!

I am from Sweden aswell and I feel like Ghost has really changed the type of swedish rock music, I really like the other swedish bands too (mostly meshuggah) but i think that the music needs this kind of evolvement to hit the major middleclass people.
Yeah. In my opinion they are something all the rock music needed for a long time. They are more show oriented and for the last couple of years I honestly cant remember any new artists who were so much into giving that kind of theatrical show while being accesible to non-metal/non-rock public in terms of sounding. I mean there are kind of young black metal bands and maybe other extreme metal bands which also make impressive shows, but their music doesnt reach out to general public. Ghost on the other hand has this kind of sounding which mostly everyone can be easily introduced to. They are like if Queen/Kiss been mixed with Alice Cooper/King Diamond but without being stuck in XX century. And also they have their own lore. I cant even remember any other band which had their own lore except GWAR. So yeah, Ghost is definetely a breath of fresh air to modern rock and metal music. Maybe even for a whole music industry in general
Ghost is an amazing thing all round. An amalganation of many different genres and styles, pretty much done perfectly. I'm really enjoying the recent interviews with Tobias, it's cool to hear him explain the many different ideas behind the concept.
Rats was fantastic. Video, song, and all. Papas and Cardinal are great fun characters. Squared Hammer was my first song that grew on me over time, then I went looking for more blew me away. Glad I found what was established with these pieces of art in my later moments of life.
saw them the beginning of this month, I stepped on his foot, we got there super early because of a loooong ass drive, any ways about a half hour before curtain I was trying to make it through the crowd to grab a bur, a line of people coming in were directly across my path to frosty greatness. there was a gap so i took it, well he did see me and in all actuality stepped under my foot.. Only reason i remembered it from all the other people I had stepped on in this journey to see my good friend the barkeep, He was wearing black and white wing tips, I used to have a pair i identical, So I said sorry buddy didnt mean to almost scuff up your fancy shoes, they look sharp.... he said thanks and i was back on my quest..... well anyways when they came on stage he was wearing the same shoes........... and half way through the first song he flipped me off..... it was half his fault to, jeez....
I can relate to the end of this interview so much. I am also coming to certain places in my mind and learning how to manage what’s important, 2017 was also the worst year of my life, and 18 was good but this year is going to be better.
Tobias Forge plays to the beat of his own drum. He does things differently for his own reasons and that makes his music interesting. As far as masks and concealing his identity I believe that he is very humble person and may actually be uncomfortable with the spotlight on him as the focal point as a “Rock Star”. That’s my opinion... I very much enjoyed the concert in Los Angeles and look forward to seeing Ghost again in whatever character Tobias is. Good interview 👍🏼
His voice is so beautiful that it sends me to a happy place. Could listen to it all day! I know it's easier for a ot of people to pronounce his name the English way, but Jesus it sounds so wierd to me....especially when he says it himself.

Some people are chiding him for his wanting to stay relatively anonymous. I think THERE IS something to the mystique. When you know everything about a musician, down the mundane details like what kind of food preferences he/she has it kind of takes away from it a bit. Maynard Keenan used to be kind of the same way he didn't divulge everything and didn't do interviews as much. And I think it served his career well. There was a kind of element that left you wondering, or wanting more. So I wouldn't knock this guy for wanting to shut you out from a thing or two here....
I think I get why he is covering his face even though many people know his look, its separates him from his character and if you don't know his face well then you're not trying to look at him as a guy under a mask but looking at his cardinals as there own people with here own back stories and personalities.

Ghost on the other hand has this kind of sounding which mostly everyone can be easily introduced to. They are like if Queen/Kiss been mixed with Alice Cooper/King Diamond but without being stuck in XX century. And also they have their own lore. I cant even remember any other band which had their own lore except GWAR. So yeah, Ghost is definetely a breath of fresh air to modern rock and metal music. Maybe even for a whole music industry in general
Ghost is an amazing thing all round. An amalganation of many different genres and styles, pretty much done perfectly.
I'm really enjoying the recent interviews with Tobias, it's cool to hear him explain the many different ideas behind the concept.
I'm happy I discovered Ghost. He seems like a nice guy. I have learned so much history about religion and different vocabulary.
It's okay that he hides, everyone knows he's sexy af, plus makes the best music ever!

Rats was fantastic. Video, song, and all. Papas and Cardinal are great fun characters. Squared Hammer was my first song that grew on me over time, then I went looking for more blew me away. Glad I found what was established with these pieces of art in my later moments of life.

saw them the beginning of this month, I stepped on his foot, we got there super early because of a loooong ass drive, any ways about a half hour before curtain I was trying to make it through the crowd to grab a bur, a line of people coming in were directly across my path to frosty greatness. there was a gap so i took it, well he did see me and in all actuality stepped under my foot.. Only reason i remembered it from all the other people I had stepped on in this journey to see my good friend the barkeep, He was wearing black and white wing tips, I used to have a pair i identical, So I said sorry buddy didnt mean to almost scuff up your fancy shoes, they look sharp.... he said thanks and i was back on my quest..... well anyways when they came on stage he was wearing the same shoes...........
and half way through the first song he flipped me off..... it was half his fault to, jeez....

I can relate to the end of this interview so much. I am also coming to certain places in my mind and learning how to manage what’s important, 2017 was also the worst year of my life, and 18 was good but this year is going to be better.
Tobias Forge plays to the beat of his own drum. He does things differently for his own reasons and that makes his music interesting. As far as masks and concealing his identity I believe that he is very humble person and may actually be uncomfortable with the spotlight on him as the focal point as a “Rock Star”. That’s my opinion... I very much enjoyed the concert in Los Angeles and look forward to seeing Ghost again in whatever character Tobias is. Good interview 👍🏼

@@AX7Raven Everyone has their preferences. I have a friend that's a complete metal head and listens to some pretty heavy stuff. Personally I prefer more melodic bands like Ghost
@@blazeinferno5133 well i don't actually hate ghost i like a few songs off their debut record. what annoys me is that these guys who are essentially a generic pop rock band are getting all this attention cause they wear gimmicky costumes and make simple and accessible music. I hate seeing bands like i mentioned above not getting attention cause bands like this. Listen to Gojira and Ice nine kills when you get a chance, just saying thank me later.

Some people are chiding him for his wanting to stay relatively anonymous. I think THERE IS something to the mystique. When you know everything about a musician, down the mundane details like what kind of food preferences he/she has it kind of takes away from it a bit. Maynard Keenan used to be kind of the same way he didn't divulge everything and didn't do interviews as much. And I think it served his career well. There was a kind of element that left you wondering, or wanting more. So I wouldn't knock this guy for wanting to shut you out from a thing or two here....

I think I get why he is covering his face even though many people know his look, its separates him from his character and if you don't know his face well then you're not trying to look at him as a guy under a mask but looking at his cardinals as there own people with here own back stories and personalities.
