- Garmin inReach plans Explained - In this video we look at the the Garmin inReach plans/ contracts and look at which plan for the Garmin inReach products will suit you best out of the Garmin inReach Plans there are on offer.
Simply explained, the plans are applicable for all Garmin inReach products.

On both subscriptions your are free to move between the plans during the year, so it is easy to change depending on what you need. You can also change in the plan period so you do not have to wait until the paid month is over. On the move to a more expensive plan Garmin will deduct the rest of the month from your lower priced plan. If you move to a cheaper plan, the change will happen when your current month is finished.
Thanks very much Andy. If pay the activation fee ONLY can I use the SOS function ONLY for the the next 365 days? Or, put another way, if I pay the Activation fee and 1 month Consumer fee on the first of May and immediately use for 7 days, I have 23 days left to use later in the year, can I use the SOS function ONLY during any of the 30 days I have paid for or can I use it THROUGHOUT the year?
It’s a shame it is so expensive-to not use it so to speak. £50 to use once a year is a bit much. Use it three tines and it is down to £26 per trip which is fine. I think they need a freedom solo or whatever they want to call it where there is one month included in the £35
So on a monthly plan for Safety at 14.99 is it 10 messages Per month? or is it 10 messages per year? on the safety plan (freedom)

Question. Say I have the annual basic plan. synched with the app on my phone. Then say my wife is going out w out me, can she download the app and use it in the same manner or would she also have to have my phone?
Your wife would have to sign into the app as you and she would then act if she was you.
The better device for swapping between people is the Zoleo as you can just select it is a different person using it.

One question/clarification about the Freedon plan - You can only cancel the service after 30 consecutive days ? i.e, You cant suspend the service after say 10 days, then use the balance later ?
Just pay the fee man, if its that tight, don't buy one.
You can cancel the service when you want, but it will be active for the rest of your paid period. Any balance or unused messages will not be transferred to the next month. You can also start a more expensive plan before your current plan runs out. You will then be deducted what you have already paid for the period on the cheaper plan.
Is there a Minimum Annual Spend ? on the pricing sheet I see there is one ?
Your minimum annual spend would be (£79.97)
Yearly fee - £29.99
Freedom plan fee - £34.99
1 x month contract - £14.99
TOTAL - £79.97
then £14.99 every month after that)

Hi, thinking about purchaicing the device.. I have a few questions regarding the freedom plan:
As long as i stay with the same plan do i have to pay the activation fee only the first month and never again? or do i have to buy it again after a year from the first subscription?
How can I set my preferences regarding the time when i want the service to be activated or deactivated? How can I prevent automatic activation of the service each month?
If I forget to pay for the current momnth does the sos still work? (obviouly messages won't work I guess).
Hi Leo, thnaks for your message, with the Freedom Plan the activation fee does need to be paid yearly, once you activate and start paying the monthly fee will will come out every month and you will be able to use SOS and send & receive messages every month until you suspend , once suspended you cannot use any of the services until you re-activate, you login in to your garmin explore account to suspend or re-activate, I hope this helps
I’m interested in the gpsmap 66i is the subscription just the the sos and text function I don’t want to subscribe would the unit work using gps to tracking my walk if I was to walk up Scafell Pike using Strava app Thank you if your able to help.
Many thanks for your question. Yes, the Garmin GPSMAP66i would still solely as a navigational device (and record your walk) without the subscription activated.
