Thank you for the perspective. I'm coming down the home stretch in my cyber security degree program and working on getting certs knocked out, so this is an opportune time for me to be thinking about this.

    Guees I did good.
    Also familiar with OWASP.
Working with GNS3 topologies was real fun.

Awesome video as always!! Thank you a ton!! I wanted a suggestion from you to pick the best cert for me. I am a guy owning a cybersecurity company and i have studied a ton of stuff in cybersecurity since past 4 years. I studied Security+, CEH, and CySA and a whole CISSP for like 4 years from books that my friend bought to study for his certifications.
I have not yet got any certification as i studied, and using the knowledge from the books of that certifications for my cybersecurity company's sake. I am being a trainer, consultant and penetration tester working for my own company.
The thing is that, I would to get yet another job at other company. Due to business of the company is unstable, and it was not being reliable than i thought.
So, Please recommend me a certification to do which can get me a job. As i already studied and gained much knowledge and even real life experience in cybersecurity may be choosing a bigger intermediate to advanced level certifications could be a great choice for me.
My whole life's decision of certification is now in yours hands.. please recommend me the best and bit advanced cert which can get me a good job at cybersecurity.
    Thank you sir.

Thank you for the feedback and I’m glad that you enjoyed the content! Starting your own business certainly has its own challenges but one question that immediately come to mind is why didn’t you go for the certifications when you were actively studying for them? Typically, when I’ve seen people in similar situations, there are gaps in their knowledge that need to be addressed to maximize your career potential. I recommend grabbing my free eBook ( jongood.com/getstarted/ ) where I provide the skills and certifications that anybody pursuing a career in Cyber Security should achieve. Is it possible that you have a pretty good grasp on some of the subjects? Sure, but I’ve also known people working in the industry for years who can’t pass an entry level certification like the Security+.
Once you are good on the skills and certifications that I’ve included in the roadmap, I would then need to know what kind of jobs that you want to pursue to give you something related. Keep in mind that I’m providing you with information and recommendations based on my experience, the experience of my students and the community. Ultimately, it’s YOUR LIFE and career, which means that it’s not in my hands but rather it’s up to you to make the decision.

@@JonGoodCyber Thank you very very much for your reply sir, im so grateful to get suggestions from you and i have checked your eBook and its absolutely a gem which kept me in the exact path i wanted now to chose and get certified 😇
Actually i did not chose certifications because, to be very honest my role in company was in too much like in quick paced and much busy with too many clients so just got it all studied and using skills from it.
As certs be the best possible way to improve and test myself So, finally the ultimate decision is that, i have now decided to take Security+, CySA+, CASP+ and CISSP for sure.
Thank you sir. Will share info in the comments when i pass the exams one by one in next 2 years :-)

I'm currently in a Master's program for Cyber security and I am seriously considering working for the DOD or the cloud industry. A have a quality assurance background and prior military experience but not much IT security background. Great tip on Hackme, I just started using it. Thanks for this video, I am super excited about this career field. Keep it up. I truly want to use it to help people and organizations as well. Cheers.

Thanks a lot for your informative videos. Came accross googling which cyber cert path to follow. I've got my MCSE, CCNA & CCNP back on 2006. Then I had a long time away from learing path and was capitalising my knowledges 😄 I am so surprised that today in 2023 CCIE barely gets on top 10 list of certifications. Will do CCIE anyway and because of your great videos AWS is the next mark !!!

I'm glad that you are enjoying the content! Honestly, traditional networking just isn't needed as much as it once was, especially in small to mid size companies where there are other network vendors that make more sense like Ubiquiti and of course cloud. Cloud is definitely a great shift to have in your plan!
