They did very well not to break anything and ........ win !!! It isn't really a boat but a giant sized dinghy with no ballast. Its skillful, but it doesn't represent sailing. Without the crew this boat would capsize - just realised that it isn't even as stable as a dinghy ! It does however show how strong the wind was as they are actually moving quite fast through the water with only about 3m2 of the mainsail up.
sailing a dinghy/skiff doesn't represent sailing? sounds like your boy messed up and served the Moët at 9 instead of your preferred 8°C on the yacht again, what a shame...

How many tens of hundreds of giant sized bpats oike Raffica with No ballst do you know of ? Is thos kind of boat representative of the sport of sailing for your ? It is skillfull saling by an experienced crew, but NOT representative of the sport. Are you happy now ? You can get back to your Grog.

I think sailing is a very diverse sport, including various type of crafts, from the America's Cup boat, to offshore Volvo Ocean yachts, to record breaking multihulls, all the way to lasers, 420, 1o1, sabot and Optimist, and all sorts of other dinghies etc (Please do not be offended if I did not quote your class of boat ;) One of the interesting part of sailing is to see the development of boats, both in technology and design. that is why we like walking along the dock looking at all sorts of boats... The beauty of our sport is the diversity of crafts. This boat, as "original" as she is, is part of that diversity and therefore, she is a great representative of our sport.
