Any fix for this reboot issue yet? Does a firmware update fix it and is the firmware update only available through the VW dealership? There’s no automatic firmware install like Windows or iPhones, so how would the existing firmware have gone bad? 2017 Golf
Hi, No I've still not found a fix for the issue. I don't want to take it to the main dealer as they'll charge a fortune just to diagnose the fault. It does seem that more and more people are having the same type of issue so hopefully someone finds a fix for the issue soon.
2016 Golf is doing the same thing. Dealership ran a dx and could not problems so they just suggested I pay $1000 to replace the whole thing. Sounds like this is a faulty system.
I recently bought 2014 VW Golf in resale and facing this issue since last week. Only when someone sits in front car seat. Anyone able to find the solution to fix this issue?
Hi, The problem seems to be the MIB 2 Head unit in the glovebox. I've bought a second hand one from Ebay which works however I need to get it re programmed to the car.
Hey Unklemunkleman, have I understood that correctly? After you changed the MIB Unit, your radio works again? And you only have to pogramm the MIB for your car?
I've heard the issue can be a bad usb port, and that also a firmware update is available to fix this issue. As far as I know, dealership would have to apply update to infotainment system.
Hi, The only work around i think is to buy a new MIB2 head unit ( it's in the glovebox on my Passat) and have it recoded to the car. I bought a second hand one from ebay.
Mine does the same when I don’t drive the car for a month or more which is annoying because I work from home and rarely use my vehicle. After driving it for a hour or more it will come back on.
