Now even though Liverpool back then was still dominating the English First Division to assume that they would be as dominant in Europe i think it would be an exaggeration. Why you might ask and the answer is because since the mid 80's a lot of changes had happened in other parts outside England in terms of continental football : first of all Serie A started to become THE PLACE TO BE, it started to establish itself as the most powerfull league in the world (do not forget that Liverpool struggled against a Roma side and were beaten by Juventus in that last cup final before the ban) and second of all a lot of eastern teams started to attract the full support of the communist regime in terms of investments and begun raising super-teams (Steaua, Red Star, Dinamo Kiev, Dynamo Dresden, CSKA Sofia etc. ) were basically concentrating the best talents within their corresponding nations, the best players from their respective internal competitions were brought sometimes willingly, sometimes even forcefully trough unorthodox methods to these clubs so as to compete successfully on the european stage (the regime wanted for this teams to gain international success as much as possible so as to be used as propaganda - "the socialist system is superior to western capitalism"). It certainly isn't in Belgrade. It's Anfield, as rightly admitted by Guardiola, Mourinho, Wenger, et all.
@featendoughnut1798 😂😂😂 to think that singing a sappy pop song means creating a more intimidating atmosphere than Deiljie ultras is nothing but a joke. Mourinho, Guardiola, Wenger didn't had to play against Red Star, Olympiakos, Galatasaray, Dinamo Zagreb etc. IN A FINAL, SEMIFINAL or A QUARTERFINAL of an important european competition. Put Red Star in that position and you'll see all hell break loose in the stands. Just look at what atmosphere if we talk about the 85-91period was during the Red Star vs Bayern semifinal in 1991 or at the clash between Red Star & AC Milan from 1988. Liverpool dominance was fading if you didn't understand my argument and the reason why you didn't saw the same eastern team each year in the final of an european competition (maybe with the exception of Steaua who between 86-89 they had 2 finals and 1 semifinal of the European Cup) is because the fall of communism and the sell of players, teams breaking up and they didn't got to fullly reach their potential in terms of a generation. Even for Liverpool it took at least 7-6 yeas before they became dominant in the mid 70's. And also many eliminations from Europe for Liverpool came at the hands of some eastern european teams like Widzew Lodz, CSKA Sofia or Dinamo Tbilisi.

By the way, just ask Barcelona or any other top European side what European away ground is the most intimidating.

2 derby incasseranno tanti soldoni, perche'
Ciao ! Grazie a tutti e FORZA MILAN !!!
