Hunting Aotearoa Series 5 EP18 Hunting for a Prize Boar

Hunting Aotearoa meets up Trevor Addenbrook and mates from the Te Kuiti Pig Hunting club on a search for a prize boar. This is their annual club pig hunting competition and there are a lot of members who are all keen to weigh in the heaviest boar.

The Rangitoto Ranges and Pureora Forest is one of the best forests in NZ. It has the best birdlife on the mainland of NZ. It's really good to hear that the aerial 100 operation killed a lot of the deer and pigs. These pests do a huge amount of damage to the forest . Deer especially take out certain species of plants that need t to stay there to feed our native birds. Pureora Forest has had more 1080 than any other nativ forest and that's why the native birdlife is so good.
1080 is a safe biodegradable poison. It's actually a poison that nature produces in leaves of many plants in Australia to stop possums eating their trees. It even naturally occurs in tea plants so when you drink a cuppa you are drinking 1080. No probs. At that concentration your body breaks it down like it can with other poisons like alcohol, and there's no accumulated effect.
There will always be pigs on the bush margins for pig hunting. Good on you guys .
