How do you add the braided knots at either end of the wrap? Can you do it separately or do you need to use the same cord? Been trying to crosswrap one of mine, ala Loðbrok's, but haven't found a tutorial that teaches the braid.
Hi!Thank you for your interest, a wax rope was used to bind the axe in the video, you can watch the instructional clip of the final finish of the bind starting at 1:35.😊
@Waynes_Dog Oh, I have that part down. I'm trying to recreate Ragnarr Loðbroks skegøx and have the basic wrap just like you showed, but I haven't been able to find any tutorials for the knots and braids needed to add the crosswrap that winds up the handle and around the head. I'm REAL close to figuring it out on my own though, and it appears you need to have two lengths of cord and two anchor points.
Yeah I intend to use mine a lot out in the elements, leather is one more thing to have to maintain. And leather requires a lot of maintenance especially when it’s used outside. It’d look pretty hanging on a wall. But I don’t think it would hold up for the axes intended purpose.
Lovely hands wayne.
Nice thanks
Awesome work!

Might be good as a decoration. Realistically its gonna tear apart/undo with first few swivels/strikes.
