Aren't cantors choir leaders in the Jewish faith? (as in the 1980 remake of The Jazz Singer with Neil Diamond) besides horse riders? Video liked by the way and channel subscribed to.

Yes they are, it's a word Jewish people and Catholics share for song leaders, but the roles are definitely different in each faith! Cantors in the Jewish faith are soloists ordained to lead songs in synagogue, they have to go through a formal training similar to what rabbis go through. They also direct the choir and pick the music for synagogue. But Catholic cantors (like me!) can be any lay soloists who lead the singing at Mass. We don't go through a standardized training, and most of us don't direct a choir. Thank you for the like and subscribe!
