this song will always make me think of my father, my first real hero and my first role model. he past away last December (he was 74), so things have been a bit tough and I've walked around in a bit of a trance for a while, but this song reminded that he's still my first real hero, and always will be.
My Dad passed away suddenly in 2012...I must have played this song 1000 times since then to honor him in my own special way...Thanks for posting such a similar sentiment, Ms. Lockwood...My condolences...
thank you Mr Noreen, and if anything can be said the lyrics are kind of honest in any context, my father gave me the confidence to go on and do my own thing, and he openly encouraged me to follow my dream in following our family's maritime and naval heritage in the way he wasn't allowed to, while my first attempt failed on the grounds of my recent bereavement but they where kind enough to say i can try again next year. also i'm very sorry for your loss, i understand losing a loved one and how the pain can constantly sear into you heart, but you must constantly remind your self that if you don't get up and get moveing you'll just end up frozen or grinding to a halt, the only thing we can do is be brave and keep making the steps we need to go forward.
Thanks so much for your kind words...I appreciate them very much and I take much comfort in knowing there are others in this world who feel as I did and still do...
Early 90s childhood vibes fuckin love it. Walking along cinderblocks, fishing, riding bikes, going to the gas station for candy and snacks, what a great song
Lyrics: Real human being And a real hero Back against the wall and odds With the strength of a will and a cause Your pursuits are called outstanding Your emotionally complex Against the grain of dystopic claims Not the thoughts your actions entertain And you have proved to be A real human being and a real hero Real human being and a real hero Real human being and a real hero Real human being and a real hero Real human being A pilot on a cold, cold morn' One-hundred fifty-five people on board All safe and all rescued From the slowly sinking ship Water warmer than, his head so cool In that tight bind knew what to do And you have proved to be A real human being and a real hero Real human being and a real hero Real human being and a real hero Real human being and a real hero Real human being Real human being Real human being
Reminds me of my parents and God (of course) I nearly died multiple times. I almost died from drowning, injury, bronchiolitis, suffocation, but luckily they are there for me.
For some reason this fits to Windows 98 to me... Maybe it's because it was my first Hero... I mean OS that I liked, And kinda after that I started to love Windows XP and Windows 7 when I got to use them.
This song is written on the real hero pilot Sully Sullenberg who was a pilot on US Airways Flight 1549, who made a quick decision to land in the river Hudson after birds went into the power engines and saved 155 people on board in 2009. This song is about him.
Ever get into the creative vibe that you get silly after a while? I just asked my partner if he could “jump off the Verrazano?” I said it’d make a great shot for the music video (we’re musicians, not filmmakers, but just me performing this doesn’t feel right, ya know?) I guess the next few weeks will tell. But either way I hope I do it justice musically! Can’t promise the same for the “video”. 🤫

Sister, at least you had a father to be your hero. A lot of us had to look elsewhere. God Bless.

best song sung by the best voice. totally the most song I've listened to in the past few years..can't wait for her to come to Scotland!
Agree, one of my favorite.
I love the first verse. It's vague enough to apply to all of us, especially men who overcome barriers, to be better father's than their own.
Lyrics:
Real human being
And a real hero
Back against the wall and odds
With the strength of a will and a cause
Your pursuits are called outstanding
Your emotionally complex
Against the grain of dystopic claims
Not the thoughts your actions entertain
And you have proved to be
A real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being
A pilot on a cold, cold morn'
One-hundred fifty-five people on board
All safe and all rescued
From the slowly sinking ship
Water warmer than, his head so cool
In that tight bind knew what to do
And you have proved to be
A real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being and a real hero
Real human being
Real human being
Real human being
Thanks man!👍
