@@TheThamesmen Comfortably Numb from the same concert, regarded as being the fourth greatest guitar solos of all time! All the best from the far north of New Zealand!
No more needs to be said! They just keep blowing me away. My favourite band for sure. I don’t know, they are musical geniuses, and they really impress their audience, every single concert. RIP Richard Wright, what a loss!
Always the older sister eh!! There again if it wasn't for the elder sis or bro we wouldn't have got into such great bands so early on. Your sis is lucky!
Hi guys your reaction was perfect 👍 I was there that night and believe me it was and still is the ultimate live show ever. Please listen to Keep talking another great track from the Division bell album and also try One of these days from the Meddle album.
The very opening track of the PULSE concert was the greatest looking and sounding live music video I had ever seen - until I saw the next one, and then the next one after that ...
It was the "Delicate Sound of Thunder" tour that lasted from 1987 through 1989 (3 years!), with a world wide televised concert in Venice, played on a floating stage towed down from Norway. The Pulse tour was from 94 and on. This is from the "A Momentary Lapse of Reasons" album from 87, the first without Waters, and this is one of the very few songs Gilmour has written both melody and lyrics to. I was at one of the concerts in Osloiin 94. The bass in the start before Gilmour start playing (you don't hear this on the recording) was so deep, that it was like a punch in the gut. And I swear the concrete floor turned to liquid. A suggestion: Free - The Hunter (live). Anyone that hasn't heard of Free must look it up.
@@TheThamesmen You’ll be blown away by Paul Kossoff here. Old blues number this. Real name is Asgeir btw, but that’s a hopeless name in english. But if I can call you Betty, you can call me Al. 😊
We are so sorry - we had to remove our 1st video of this, as we had a technical issue (bloody thang was nearly double speed). HEre we are, tech issues sorted and many thanks!!! George and Alex
Oh So Good!! Fantastic, Brilliant! Absolutely Love This. I saw Pink Floyd at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin many years ago and my young mind was blown. Saw some concert goers being carried out on stretchers by paramedics.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for watching the amazing Floyd spaceship! I adore a bit of Floyd. nothing like them anywhere else on this planet.
This might be my favorite live concert performance of anyone. I love the buildup, intensity, and David Gilmour's emotional and expressive guitar soloing. The whole band is great in this. If you want to check out a bluesier/rockier version of this solo in the same song, I suggest listening to David Gilmour's performance of 'Sorrow' from his solo tour, 'Live in Pompeii 2016.' I personally love that solo, too.
Honestly, I find the performance of 'Sorrow' on Pompeii 2016 lacking. But there are other songs from that concert that are really great: 'In Any Tongue' is my favourite and rivals the best Floyd songs.
For another great Gilmour guitar solo, I would like to recommend "Fat Old Sun" - the version from David Gilmour's Live at Gdansk show. And for an interesting version of "Comfortably Numb", I recommend the version from Gilmour's Remember that Night show, David Bowie is the guest vocalist. I enjoy your reactions, thank you.
Oh I love Fat Old Sun and it's covered here. ruclips.net/video/cBXe8EKHWC4/видео.html&ab_channel=TheThamesmen What a great track. You are right about Remember that Night show - Need to head into that. Be well Michael and thanks for watching!
Great suggestion but I prefer the Remember That Night version of Fat Old Sun. That could just be me though. It just feels more soulful whereas Gdansk feels like he lets loose a bit more. Both great shows, it just depends on what the listener prefers.
@@fortch17 I agree with you, IMO the Remember That Night version of Fat Old Sun is the best one. I prefer most songs from Remember That Night over Gdansk, although both concerts are great.
Wooohooo, we get to see it again 🤗 Hope glenn gets to see his request! He knows it’s my favorite live performance from that concert. Great review, guys 👍🏼
For other songs, just about anything from this concert is great! High Hopes, Learning to Fly, On the Turning Away... Have you both already heard the album “Animals”? All of those are great, but most people ask for “Dogs”...I like them all 👏🏼🔥🙃
staggering stuff, and another great reaction, thank you. May i suggest trying Castellorizon/On An Island from the Gdansk show for some more ridiculous Gilmour magic...
Drumming...Nick Mason is a calm magician at his kit - Gary Wallis is a performer and a well respected session drummer. You are correct - Pink Floyd had far more fun performing post-Waters. Brilliant as he was as a lyricist, he became far to bitter and egotistical. The 2 PF albums after Roger were more about emotion, nostalgia and hope, and this tour in support of the "Division Bell" album was among the best in history, culminating in the release of the "Pulse" video release....now we can all experience, now and in the future, the magic they produced.
You guys need to bring this full circle. You need to react to the Gilmour Live in Pompeii concert. For Pulse, Gilmour was in his 40s, for Pompeii Gilmour was in his 70s, wearing a black Tshirt (just like in Pulse) and still demonstrating how you are supposed perform. Gilmour was the first live performance in that amphitheater since 79AD. He played for two hours performed all of Floyds hits and was the musical God of the last two centuries.
I also like Guy Pratts bass playing on this track, if you do a RUclips search for 'Guy Pratt, lockdown licks, like a prayer', he talks about this, and his work with Madonna.
another version without all the big production , Dave 's just guitar playing. "live at Pompeii" 2016. Dave play's his $3.9 million " Blackie" strat ( modified to use only 2 pick-ups ) with the Jimi Hendrix guitar strap xxxx. If you want t hear just Dave's playing you will not be disappointed, solo work " in any tongue' ( third best solo ) "rattle that lock" ' the blue".. and some Floyd also.
Nuestras disculpas, nuestro español es terrible. ¿La traducción automática y los subtítulos cerrados de RUclips no funcionan? ¿No puedo decirlo desde aquí?
Got to disagree. I mean, it's all subjective, and if you prefer the Pompeii version that's entirely up to you. But to me, the guitar work on the Pulse version is significantly better. That's not to say the Pompeii version is bad, of course. They're still insanely good, and having experienced it myself twice in London in 2015 and 2016, it's an experience I'll never forget. But I still think the 1994 Pulse version you see here is probably the finest 10 minutes of music I've ever heard. But again, that's just my opinion. :)
Thanks for posting! If you have a minute, we recorded an Eddie Van Halen tribute video. As fellow music fans, we'd love if you'd take a listen. It's on our channel. Don't be too tough on us :)
