  • The Beast's Extremely Sinful Life BEFORE He Met Belle | Beauty And The Beast
    The love story told in Beauty in the Beast is truly a tale as old as time, but it might not have been quite as sweet as you thought. It turns out that before he became the Beast, he was a Prince who could be described as nothing less than an egotistical tool. Thanks to a book by Serena Valentino, the Prince’s history has never been clearer. And sadly, it looks like his life before he met Belle was full of sin and manipulation.

    According to the movie, wasn't he 11 before the enchantress came? I know that they have gone back and tried to change what was said, alter what was meant, and give other authors the 'right' to decide what 'really' happened, but the prologue said the rose would bloom till he turns 21 and Lumiere says they were enchanted 10 years. Simply presuming he could not age unless the chairs... did as well redefines what are the rules of that particular fairy tale world simply to add to how much sin they can add to the backstory, which helps nothing.

    Okay, and another thing. The enchantress was cursing a literal child. At least in the remake the Beast was already an adult, so I see why she would have cursed that version of him. • @lexyruse603
      @lexyruse603 Год назад +5

      @jf k True but just because there's a good result from doing something bad doesn't make it right. If you get abused as a child and in turn that makes you want to be different from your parents and be a loving person does that mean the abuse was ok? Plus this technically teaches kids to trust strangers. I lobe Beauty and the Beast but honestly his punishment was way overboard.

    • @inky-rose6460

      @jf k I don't really agree with the statement that he changed him for the better. It's unlikely. He would've grown to be super selfish.
      I don't know you can't really expect a 11 year old to let you into his house if your disguised as a creepy old lady. That's like the first rule of anything.
      And if we're going off of all time being halted then that still doesn't seem fair. 21 is when a person has just finished their brain's full development, 21 is still pretty young though. You can't curse someone just because he didn't let you into his house, no matter what age it's still a bit creepy to show up as an old lady to a very young man's castle

    Honestly, I can believe a lot of what happened in the book. However, if any of it were to be adapted into the film's canon, the curse being drawn out and Beast almost being engaged a second time would need to be written out. Also, in the 2017 movie, it was shown the Prince's mother died when he was young, so his father raised him to be as selfish as he was. My guess is that this was exasperated further when his father died, and when Gaston entered his life. According to The Enchanted Christmas, it looks as if the Prince was cursed when he was 16, and the enchanted rose probably made his and his servants' lives slow down 50%. Also, spending 10 years as a Beast had to have been physically painful for the Prince, probably to the point of insanity.

    Yes in the song 10 years is mentioned but I see that as either a result of the rose or a reference to how long it had been since they hosted anyone from outside the castle…if Adam was that reached towards the enchantress and Christmas who would ever accept an invitation?

I thought time stopped for everyone in the castle, so they didn't age. I thought that when the Beast turned back into a human, he didn't age, so that's how he looked when he was younger, and got cursed.
      I never would have guessed that they were still aging in that castle. It's kind of twisted and dark that they age, because there's a child in that castle that had nothing to do with the Prince's behavior, and he turned into a cup.
      The wiki, It says that he was 7 years old before he was cursed. So that means Chip was 17 when he got turned back into a human. Imagine living your entire life as a fragile cup?
      What further made me think that time stopped for them is that chip doesn't look 17(though I didn't know his age at the time), he looks to be around 10 years old. That is simply not what I expect from a back story. Especially since the odd sisters seem to be of a similar nature to the three fates from Grecian mythology. Even if you do run with her narrative then Adam would never have befriended Gaston he was too far beneath him being the son of a tavern keeper as he was. Before you ask his trophies wouldn't have been displayed at the tavern if it were not his home thus making him a tavern keeper or at least the child of one.

    Serena Valentino is out to make all Disney villains into heros and heros into villains, if you dig into beauty and the beasts origin stories and past recounts by all the classical story tellers, the beast was a prince with whom the fairy was bewitched (even in one story she was his care taker, like an aunt who was hundreds of years old, who got infatuated with him when he reached puberty) and because he kept denying her (even Disney eludes to this story when the old haggardly woman tries to give the prince a red rose and he refuses it) got angry and cursed him as if to say yeah if I can't have you no one can. The beauty however never saw the goodness of beast but was only repulsed by his exterior until the final day came and he began to die, that's when she realized she loved him and the curse was broken. Serena Valentino is not very good at her job, she gives non sense backstories to fairytale characters which do not suit them one bit, and Disney of course always makes fairies as the heroes hence they blame the prince for being rude, like even if he was rude who gave the fairy the authority to punish him, who was she his mother? The scorned lover story of the classical story always made more sense, I always felt Disney version was very off since the story was not adding up, that was before the much worse version of Serena Valentino came out.

      @@angeldaly8181 well she may have been told what to do in the sense to give villains a back story, make the psychopaths seem human and sympathetic characters while heroes as not as good as they appear to be, the horrible story writing was all her doing no doubt. There is a million ways to make a hero seem bad and villain sympathetic, she just did a bad job. Absolutely zero research into the background of the story.

    adam should have realized there was more to women than their beauty because he was selfish and self absorbed only caring about one quality of a woman if i was in the movie i would be with belle instead of him because unlike him i love everything about a girl not just her beauty

    Who wrote the books? It just feels like everyone written something about Adam and Belle over and over. Yet the movie says he was 11. It’s just so confusing y’all. They are all different types of canon???
