    i love seeing our educated somali people maintaining the culture . we need the older generation of educated somalis to teach the educated younger somalis from the diaspora so we dont lose the culture by the will of Allah

    An interesting discussion. Professor Ahmed takes the language discussion to political extremes. Somali was not imposed on any part of Somalia. The political and pragmatic decision of the military regime made written Somali the version we all use. Spoken Somali briefly discussed by Professor Ahmed is a different matter. Dr Martin Orwin clarified the subjective element when a community language’s “af” is a dialect or a language.
