- People on social media were frantically alerting the Secret Service this week after one of Donald Trump's aides revealed that he likes to get innocent people arrested. The aide, Johnny McEntee, boasted on a podcast of handing out fake money to homeless people who will then use the money to buy things and get busted for using counterfeit money. If his story is true, then this constitutes a crime under US Code, as Farron Cousins explains.

In Canada it is a crime to harass the homeless like this. They even put a pastor in prison for refusing to comply with court orders to cease demanding people have to hear a religious sermon, or not be fed at all.

Ramsey County, MN Sheriff Department gives out gift cards to homeless and at risk kids. They are provided by viewers of their YT and FB program Live on Patrol. About a year or so ago they got scammed with fake cards. Numerous complaints rolled in from homeless and businesses. Seems like a person with a like minded twisted brain.

I worked at a homeless shelter. Homeless people have jobs, have families and challenges that come together to result in being without an affordable place to live. Homeless people are people period.
Sometimes, they have multiple jobs, too. So, saying that the homeless should just get jobs is ignorant.

Secret Service’s primary created purpose is counterfeit cases.
Just him giving someone this fake money, under the impression that it is legit money, is a violation of US counterfeiting laws. That alone is punishable by up to 20 years, on top of whatever he could get for inciting someone to unwittingly commit a crime.

@653j521 I did. Farron only brought up one of the two crimes that I mentioned McEntee being guilty of. He could also be charged with essentially the same crime he's trying to get others arrested for, not just for inciting thr victim to commit a crime.

About a year or so ago in Ramsey County, MN a similar thing happened with a batch fake gift cards "donated" to the Sheriff Department which gives out cards to homeless and at risk kids who might distrust law enforcement. They are provided by viewers of their Live on Patrol program. Numerous complaints rolled in from homeless and businesses.
