I used to do this with my pit at first he would bite down hard and got my fingers then after a couple times he got gentle with it. But i used to wrestle with him all the time and one time he got to excited and bit my ear and i bit his ear back pretty hard and he took off whining and went to hide. The next time i tried to wrestle with him he sat there looking at me like i aint playing with you no more hahahahahaha i miss my pit we put him down a year ago just got really old suprising he lived as long as he did but he was well taken care of. Edit: everyone keeps talking about the putting the dog foen and letting them die naturally. He could not move or get up he would pee and shit himself and couldnt eat. It was his time and he let us know. No one knows your dog better then you do and i knew he didnt want to suffer anymote

I mean not really. If you treat them like a dog and not a baby they turn out just like every other normal dog. They are generally very friendly loving dogs and are very loyal

It’s amazing how most dogs don’t need to be taught how to avoid hurting you when eating from your hand. I know some dogs do need to be taught not to be aggressive around food. It just amazes me how gentle most of my dogs were even as puppies. If I wasn’t careful to make sure that they could grab the treat easily, they would practically spin their head around trying to find a position that would let them grab the food without any of their teeth grazing my hand even slightly. If they realized they couldn’t take the treat without pushing their teeth against my hand, they’d just give up and cry. I had a 180 lb very dominant territorial mastiff that always seemed terrified of accidentally hurting me.
As someone who is very scared of dogs because of stereo types its nice to see pitbulls being trained. Definetly helps me open up to trying to get over my fear!!
I used to dislike and be scared of pitbulls but a friend of my moms asked if we could take care of his pitbull and I was a little scared but I started petting it and then I became so attached to it and I loved it so much, we started playing a lot and now I’m not afraid of them, sadly I haven’t seen it again 😞

Oh my GUSH!!! I GUSH!! They GUSH cuteness OVERLOAD!!!!! I never really had problems with any of my dogs biting my fingers... I’ve had Chinese sharpies (4 of them), German Shepard, Rottie and pit. They are all my gentle babies to their mommy!!! Only their mommy. They were aggressive to everyone else to be honest.
Do you have any advice on pits with separation anxiety? I have a half pit half blue healer mix; it doesn’t matter if we leave for 5 seconds, he’ll tear anything up. We got a heavy duty crate and the first time we put him in it, he bent the bars and broke the door to the crate.
Grim KitKat you have to give the something that they can chew on and get distracted! Buy an XL Kong toy and the Peanut butter squeeze bottle, I found that this kept my dog interested for a while, also i recommended to buy a gate for either your front door or back door, open the door and slowly exit while having your dog on a sitting position. Everytime he moves, go back sit him down and repeat! It WILL get frustrating! And you won’t get it down for a while but keep doing it, it works! NEVER give him the Kong and peanut butter while you are around this defeats the purpose of a “treat”. Get him to understand that everytime you leave, he WILL get rewarded with the Kong that way it’s less stressful to him when you do exit!
That's me and my staffie dog :( i think pits are illegal here in the uk. But staffies resemble a smaller and leaner version of them. My bitch always ends up howling and messing around with things when left alone :((

Kyle Tidrick that’s literally the exact opposite thing you’re supposed to do. You’re supposed to take the food and move it towards their mouth using a really fast motion. This causes them to not lurch their heads forward, but instead they will pull their heads backwards. Then they will open their mouths and you gently pop it into their mouths. I’ve raised large breeds of dogs from newborn to fully matured and know for a fact this is the absolute best way of doing it.

You might need to get him a prescription for a mild anti anxiety medication from your vet if its that bad
