That's actually a fun run idea. Abandon starter ship and run around planet until you have enough money to buy one at a trade outpost. Stick with that one ship to the center of the galaxy.

I have played my own "live off the land" rules which includes no starter ship, no selling or buying. The only way you get off the starter planet is to find a crashed ship. Be prepared for a lot of walking and jet pack boosting. Last run took about 7 hours to get off the planet.
I have so many questions. Is Dirt the hub of the multiverse or is it Muddy? I'm currently leaning towards Muddy. Did Carl exist in the Long Dark? That might be the missing piece of the equation.
