This location makes the most sense to me for the Avatar Experience. However, I want to throw out my crazy idea that Stage 17 would be a brilliant location for my favorite British import that's coming to Disney+ in November to come and visit for a while. A Whovian can hope.

i think that small building could house a small coaster. a gerstlauer or spinner like the nemo in paris. this park needs another roller coaster!!!!!! the marvel E ticket needs to be that but i have a feeling it’s gonna be another cheap no frills screen based ride😢

It’s certainly dead. I haven’t gone back there in my last 2 visits and never visited the Avengers store. Everything needs to be redeveloped back there. I wonder if they are waiting to do a master plan with a bridge over Harbor Boulevard.

Long shot but transplanting a clone of “Avengers Assemble, Flight Force” (that Iron Man/captain Marvel version of Rock’N’Rollercoaster would be perfect for the Hollywood Backlot area tbh.

It makes sense with moving stuff to avengers vault. But that section of dca is now definitely lacking.

The crowd flows and parade like instructions on a constant loop definitely lesson any enjoyment of that area. “Avenger’s Hallway” 😂

I was also just at Disney World and the muppet area and Pixar area look a lot like this. They don’t know what to do with the excess space so they just close it. It’s kind of sad

Traffic flow is definitely a problem in avengers campus. That is not a good place for a shop.

you had to have known it was closing. they told cast months ago. the shop was dead. hardly any noticeable different open or closed. the beer drives the hollywood backlot that is very crowded when it's beeroclock.

The only thing that’s going to fix the Hollywood backlog is a major attraction, and they just don’t have the space unless they bulldoze stuff and rebuild the whole thing. Monsters Inc and Philharmagic are not going to drive traffic back there.
As for Avengers Campus, the space above the vault was never designed to be a stage for fight sequences. We kno this because there is literally no where on the street where you can see anything that is going on…
It was designed to be the opening marquee of a major E ticket plus attraction and gift shop. But they got nothing at the moment.
So if it opens up as a gift shop, they’re gonna have to stop the fight sequences. The fact that they don’t actually have an attraction in that building. It’s just too bad. It’s not gonna happen anytime soon they don’t have a money for it and probably won’t have for another few years…
It’s literally just like the haunted mansion when they originally built it and didn’t actually open the attraction for decades.
But that is always been the key problem with DCA. Glendale thinks all people want these days are meet and greet, places to eat, and cool merch, a show/parade… But that is all “Software.” And that’s just not the way theme parks work. You got to have “hardware.”
So nothing is going to solve a Hollywood backlot problem short of some sort of coaster or large motion simulator. And nothing is going to solve the Avengers Campus problem, short of that avengers E ticket.

Thanks for the update. If Avatar takes over the back lot I will be happy they did something, but I will then know how the non Star Wars and Avengers fans felt. I haven’t seen any of the Avatar movies. I wouldn’t mind if they tie more Marvel in. Maybe they can make that a X-men campus ?

So many good points made in this video. I have never been impressed by the design of AC...it feels like a walk through experience. Nothing entices me to hang around. The addition of this store just makes this space even less appealing. Now there are two brick and mortar merch stores and a merch kiosk in that small space? I don't get it. We need a do-over...lol!

Man, Avenger Campus is SO bad... the MCU movie just don't have a striking enough design to work, it's too modern and ordinary! If they had made it a Wakanda Ambassy, or a chunk of Asgard or something that the Collector stole when it was exploding, that could have been WAY cooler looking at least!

  • @joshtodd6054

I feel like they should have just expanded marvel into the backlot, move the shows and meet over there and have them utilize both rooftops and stages. Kind of like and playground for the shows. Then the avengers e ticket can have room to breath and wouldn’t have an issue with the shop.
But I do agree that’s a good location for the avatar experience

Soundstage 12 & Soundstage 17 have been among the weakest parts of the HB. I recall when 17 housed the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" game & 12 housed Hollywood & Dine. In between them was the infamous Superstar Limo ride. lol. Jeez, DCA 1.0 was like Disney Meets Six Flags. The Backlot has always been bad show---exposed-steel-beam theming isn't too great. But in certain ways it's even more that today than it was in 2001. If it weren't for the Monsters Inc ride, the entire area should be flattened right now & replaced with Avatar Land.

A buddy of mine who is in the sound department, says the sound equipment in that building is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, hopefully it will go back to being used to its full potential. We had a literal Arendelle snow land in there once, it could be so much more than just a shop. 🥲
