1978 KZ1000 Project - Part 12 - New Exhaust Sound, More Tuning!

I'm back with Kawasaki's 1978 KZ1000 project. I have switched out exhaust mufflers in an effort to get more midrange power. The bike is running great above 1/8 throttle so I'm trying to dial out the small stumble I sometimes get below that throttle setting. New rear shocks are also in the works. What are the next steps? Let's find out together!

Gorgeous bike! I agree with you about the A model bodywork, looks better, but I do love the LTD front fender. I have owned a KZ900, and three 1000’s (including a Z-1R)….😢 I miss them!

Hi Jon what size main jets are you running ?

Because these are VM29s, I'm running 115 main-jets (as recommended by Mikuni). It runs great up top. Any richer makes it run worse.
